[Firm Foundation]

Hebrews 4:4-6. "For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.  And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.  Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief."

The Sabbath was originally on the seventh day, Saturday, because it represents God resting, but it was to point us to another rest, one we enter into when we stop trusting in the law to save us and place our faith in Christ.  To be continued.

Hebrews 4:7,8

"Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.  For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day."

Under the law of Moses, they were required to rest on the seventh day.  The penalty for not doing so was severe.  Still, some refused to obey.  Today, we are told not to harden our hearts, but believe on Jesus.  We are not required to keep the Sabbath rest based on a calendar, but based on faith.  To be continued...

Hebrews 4:9-11. "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.  Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."

Once the creation was completed, along with the plan of redemption, God rested.  After Calvary, we entered into a new covenant.  Jesus said, "It is finished."  Now, we are to accept what Christ did on the cross, cease from trying to save ourselves by trusting in Moses, and enter into His rest through faith in Christ.  To refuse to believe is to continue to trust in self or Moses, and that won't work.  Just as it cost everyone 20 years old and above, except Joshua and Caleb, the promised land, thus spiritually they never entered into rest, unbelief will keep us out of God's Kingdom.  Jesus is the only way.

I always thought we enter the rest at his second coming. We will be finish from our fight against sin. All our sorrows will be gone.

Some are trying to be saved......others are trusting to be saved.Those that  are trusting  are the ones that are resting.Resting in  the   Finished Work Of  the Cross.They have abandoned all self- effort in getting saved or staying saved.

Entering into God's rest has NOTHING to do with OSAS.  It only has to do with believing in Jesus, that he is who he said he is, and putting our trust in him.

OSAS has become an idol to many, where they trust in a doctrinal belief to be saved.  They don't worship Jesus.  They worship OSAS.

You aren't saved by placing faith in Paul's gospel.  Paul didn't die for us.  We are saved by trusting in Christ.
