Jesus himself was tempted by Satan that if he bowed to him he would give him all the kingdoms of the world. Let me share a little bit of my vision for the ministry in a parable. Let's say I'm throwing a big party and am inviting the world to the party (the forums) and I want everyone to have a great time, eating (reading through posts being fed), drinking (being encouraged to walk in His Word), and having fellowship with one another. In Israel, we have Shabbat meals -- and whenever you have 2 Jews -- you have 3 opinions -- it's GREAT to be opinionated. I encourage discussions ... but during our Shabbat meals ... we never ever get to the point in disagreements whereby food is being tossed and seriously yelling takes place! And if someone comes into the meal ... and starts throwing food ... and yells at everyone -- what do you suppose the head of the Shabbat meal will do? He'll escort those causing problems out of the house! Why? Because the whole reason for the gathering was to learn from one another ... to have a great time of fellowship! Some people like to constantly throw food and yell ... they won't last on Worthy ... because they missed the point of the party ... it's a prequel to the true party -- the Lamb's Supper! All I'm trying to provide is a place to allow true fellowship ... and discussions in love ... in the hopes it will be a catalyst for true REVIVAL based on REPENTANCE! Read psalm 82 and see that the sons of God let Him down miserably, so their portion was the nations. Deut 32. Thus God chose for Himself a people - Israel. Of course these erring sons of God (some of His heavenly host) did it all even worse and the 70 or so nations went after Babel's ideas (until God scattered them). These principalities and powers (Archons) do rule to some extent since God put them there. But that Psalm also says to the transgressors, "you will all die like men" so they are somewhat already judged. When Yeshua let Himself be sacrificed it was to accomplish Salvation for the whole world of man and also to put to rights the Gen 6 incursion of the angels that cohabited with women and produced Nephilim. These are our current demons that roam around like ha-satan seeking whom they may devour. Yeshua's act also led to Pentecost and the beginnings of missionary work all over the world. God has stated that he will regather the nations and bring back the lost tribes. For an Israeli, this was the Tribulation; the exile from God's country of the other ten tribes. Yeshua put everything under His feet. And if we are the righteousness of God in Christ, we can also put all spiritual assailants under our feet. Just like Yeshua/Jesus did/does thru us. Problem is, due to man's nature and much error, we let these principalities and powers entice us to ALLOW much sin. We sided with them and so their smoke and mirrors have attracted us to do their bidding. They are defeated, yet we encourage them to prosper because we do not rightly divide the word of God. We teach all kinds of weird man-made doctrines and basically hamstring ourselves right into the courts of the ungodly workers of iniquity. When Yeshua/Jesus died, the veil in the temple split from top to bottom. His blood sanctified the WAY from the Cross to the Holy of Holies. Blood was a cleansing/purifying ritual and it 'cleared the path' for believers to enter the Courtroom of the Most High and make our petitions known directly to the Father. The archons are judged and have little time left, whereas we believer have all eternity left. We will eventually replace the sinning host of heaven and dwell with the remaining obedient hosts in God's Holy Court. His Holy Blended Family. The scriptures say we will judge those fallen ones. So in the meantime, they are 'hell-bent' on stopping us of course. That is why we see a lot of evil. We just need to oppose it at every turn and, "seek the Lord while He may be found". It's my thought that at the fall in the Garden of Eden, Adam gave up his dominion over earth to Satan, until Christ comes back to reclaim what is rightfully His at His second coming; Satan and his minions are our enemies. The below verse tells us whom we are fighting with. I think that for the most part you're right. But remember they don't own the earth, it belongs to God. I don't know how old you are, I'm in my 60's. I was amazed in the 1960's at how the rock band The Beatles enjoyed almost unheard of success and they changed the sound of music. They couldn't record a bad song, it was uncanny. By 1968 - 69 the truth started to show, their music lead many a teenager to use drugs and they promoted promiscuous sex. Most of us consider this sin. They had spiritual help, but they were bad spirits. There's another interesting connection with your idea. Ever hear of Dr. Michael Heiser? He is Christian and an expert in ancient languages including Hebrew & Greek. I read the account of the Tower of Babel many times but I never noticed what he does. Although you have to read the ESV to see it and I usually read the NIV. You probably know mankind was supposed to be filling the earth but instead they were trying to build a tower to heaven. God punished man back then but He also gave certain angels authority over the nations. These angels were supposed to rule righteously, they did not. We learn that in Psalms 82. God is very angry at these other divine beings because they ruled poorly. So you're right, ungodly angels were given power over the earth. But ever since Jesus was here God has been taking the earth back. It's a 1 by 1 task. I'm still learning Dr. Heiser's ideas but I think he's right.
