Ominipotence and Pantheism what are the diffences?

they are both viewed as being  everywhere and therefore to do with God.  i still have confusion over these two. i do realise that Pantheism is more about mankinds version but it still all about something being in everything. thats as far as i have got. can someone explain this without  getting too technical many thanks

Omnipotence is the easier word so I'll take that 1st. This may not be all the definitions but I think of omnipotence as being all-powerful. As a Christian I believe that only God is omnipotent.

Pantheism has several meaning. It's the belief in many gods. I think all religions except Christianity, Judaism and Islam are pantheistic.  At this point I need to address an important issue. In the Bible, especially the OT, our God is talking to other gods. And it's the same Hebrew word being used. Does this mean Christianity & Judaism believe in many gods? No, not at all. The word elohim is used for any spirit being, even the prophet Samuel after he died. All of the elohim are created beings except for the Most High Elohim also known as Yahweh. Yahweh is unique and the one & only, no one else is the equivalent of Yahweh, the Most High God.

i don;t believe that God is omnipotent and that he is everywhere.  God is in heaven, his spirit goes out to all the earth where believers are but God is absent from the presence of evil.

Greetings, nobleseed…. You have not known for some reason that our Father is not only Omnipotent, but He is Omnipresent and Omniscient.  He is everywhere at work in the midst of us all.  Read below what is written in Psalm 139.  I hope this will convince you.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

yes, among believers, but i do not think he would be at the bottom of the sea if nobody was there

So then, let me I ask you this. Do you think God's present in a sinful bar located in a sinful city?

Btw, Omnipresence means being present everywhere, omnipotent means being all powerful.

This topic interests me, as the previous summer I came across some people who were into Sarah Young – Jesus is calling. And to begin with I thought gosh this is good and then I looked online to find out about her, as I take nothing at face value anymore. And was shocked to read that she was described as having Pantheism outlook and then I had to look that up as I had never heard of it. she was leaning more to the created rather than to the creator was the general gist i think i got to.

In the end what got me was that she was inferring that Jesus was talking to her and thereby decided to do this book. And then I think whoa there isn’t that kind of adding to the bible. And then I started to notice on another visit that there were other books that were questionable

I never heard of Sarah Young but always be cautious of anyone going beyond the Bible and there are too many doing that. Some of them are saying great sounding ideas but these ideas are not Biblical. One early tip off is when someone tells you, You need to know this, or you must hear this. Those folks are always wrong even if they use Jesus in their false ideas. ...................... There's a guy on Sunday mornings in the NYC area who's show is called The Key of David. He's a false teacher and he starts many statements with phases like, friends you need to know this. Everything he says is based on the teachings of a false prophet named Herbert W. Armstrong, who died some 35 yrs ago. I was taken in by the great sounding stuff Armstrong said, 40+ yrs ago before I was saved. It's sad 1 of Armstrong's followers is starting this again. Armstrong used to say the proof of his ideas would be Jesus returning before he died. Well, I got saved, 5 yrs later Armstrong died, his church fell apart, but it took me 20 yrs to clear his ideas from my mind. Be very careful Mabel, when in doubt don't even listen.

thanks JTC...yes we are the generation that like our ears tickled...the book i was talking about and another book, different author, were full of what i call 'right on language' even though i was 'comforted'

i did my research...and this person said to me, when i phoned them up and i said what i had found on the web. they said that you have to becareful what you read on the web! and wasnt even of the opinion to find out for herself about whether indeed that what i had found had any merit. unbelievable really that told me all i needed to know. and even seemed to be furthering my confusion, gut wrenching disappointment. this was to be my oasis in a wilderness season. shocking but it taught me much. i was in a vulnerable state also but PTL the Lord had me covered.

i so needed that place to be the place but i have to accept it isnt and just lately its gone from bad to worse is about the size of it.

so i have once again to go it alone. so tired of these so called christian centres.

Hi mabel,

Interesting topic. Now we know that God is Spirit and thus can be everywhere. (John 4: 24) Truth.

Pantheism is the thought that God is in everything -rocks, trees, birds, insects etc. So...I just stood on God! (a rock) Nonsense.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
