Ghosts are the spirits of departed people who have died, or the disembodies spirits of someone doing out of body things (which a very dangerous and not smart thing to do).

Where we run into problems is that human spirits have a place to go when we die, however unfortunately for us the spirits of the dead Nephilim have no God given place to be until God destroys this world to replace it with the new.       So they roam around looking for things to get into.

As was said the only real ghost that the Bible speaks of is that of Samuel brought up by the witch of Endor.     Proving that at the very least if God permits it is possible.  However it is very easy to get in touch with one of those demons that Jesus was addressing to come out of people....   they roam around looking for something that will let them in.

It is my personal thoughts that is why God forbids us talking with the dead....    it is really talking to some really evil things.    And we as individuals have no authority or power to tell them what to do....   we have to have the Holy Spirit deal with then through the name of Jesus.    So basically you need to make sure you are very close to the Holy Spirit before dealing with them.

If your Christian friend is a born again Christian they should be able to deal with any spirits in the house...   but if the son has invited them in it makes things way more complicated.  As the Bible says one can exorcise a demon but if the person exorcised does not invite the Holy Spirit to reside there, the spirits will come back with extra help and the person is in worse condition than in the beginning.

Getting the friends son born again is the best answer for them and we are not allowed to force them to do that.....    Prayer to God is what is needed.

So all that to say this.    Pray for them and ask the Lord in intervein in the situation.

If you are led to fast and pray, be sure to do so according to Isaiah 58.  There you will find why we should fast.

You are correct. There are no ghosts. As Christians however, we do have power over evil spirits in the name of Jesus.

Mark 16:17 17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;  KJV

We must take authority under which Christ gave us the power to do so. I'm speaking from personal experience concerning the issue.

I would think very carefully before ever trying to confront an evil spirit. Surely prayeris the best weapon we have? Please tell us or privately tell me of your experience.

Yeshua gave the 70 the power over evil spirits. This signified who He was and that He also came for the 70 nations scattered at Babel.

We are sons and daughters of the King of Kings. We have been elevated by the death and resurrection AND our belief in Yeshua.

It does not matter who we are or at what 'level' we are in the Christian Faith. I have witnessed even children having Spiritual power. The power comes from Yeshua, the Spirit of Yeshua. Not ourselves.

I have witnessed this power first hand, and it DOES require a steady hand and some nerve. Pray before you act, but do not pray against the evil because your prayers should be directed to God alone. As Yeshua, said ALL POWER is given unto Me.

1 John 3 3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:

So get your believing friends with you, and go do it for the sake of the one that may be oppressed.

P.s. Added This: Beware of this season right now. Make sure NOTHING to do with halloween is ANYWHERE near you. No trick n treat. Nothing to encourage the presence of those nasty evil creatures.

Hi Melinda,

if you are in a position to intervene, remember, we do not have the power to cast out devils, But it is only by Christ in us that we can do so. So When we invoke Jesus Name, we are saying he will do the casting out. If You go into acts, there is the story of the sons of Sceva who invoked Jesus and Paul's name, thinking they could cast out a devel, but they were overcome by those devils because they did not know Jesus, and have him in their hearts. (You can find this in Acts 19:14ff)

Then there is the episode in Jude where Michael, and archangel invoked the LORD to rebuke the Devil, Meaning there are some entities we have no power over and we need to understand this.... I recommend if this is the first time you have handled this sort of thing you follow Michael's example. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. (Jude 1:9)

The Spiritual world is very real and unseen by most. Invoking the Blood of Jesus as a covering over you will protect you when you are dealing with the spirits of devils. "I plead the Blood of Jesus over you as you deal with these principalities, That they may not overcome you, In Jesus Name, Amen"

Remember, You are Just the earthen vessel, Jesus and the Holy Ghost in You are the Power by which you cast out devils. All Glory and Honor are the LORD's. I have seen many men go into these situations with religious pride thinking they are demon fighters, and come out of these situations overcome by those devils as the sons of Sceva did. Your heart must be right with God and you must be totally trusting in His power to overcome them.

Sending up prayers for you, God bless.

Quite right. I have no such power. But prayer i can and am doing. I believe those who are deep into addiction are in the grip of multiple demons who are not easily going to let go. I will not meddle in such things but will pray hard daily for Jesus Christ to save this young man.

Question: "What does the Bible say about ghosts / hauntings?"

Answer:
Is there such a thing as ghosts? The answer to this question depends on what precisely is meant by the term “ghosts.” If the term means “spirit beings,” the answer is a qualified “yes.” If the term means “spirits of people who have died,” the answer is “no.” The Bible makes it abundantly clear that there are spirit beings, both good and evil. But the Bible negates the idea that the spirits of deceased human beings can remain on earth and “haunt” the living.
Hebrews 9:27 declares, “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” That is what happens to a person’s soul-spirit after death—judgment. The result of this judgment is heaven for the believer (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23) and hell for the unbeliever (Matthew 25:46; Luke 16:22-24). There is no in-between. There is no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form as a “ghost.” If there are such things as ghosts, according to the Bible, they absolutely cannot be the disembodied spirits of deceased human beings.

The Bible teaches very clearly that there are indeed spirit beings who can connect with and appear in our physical world. The Bible identifies these beings as angels and demons. Angels are spirit beings who are faithful in serving God. Angels are righteous, good, and holy. Demons are fallen angels, angels who rebelled against God. Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive. According to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.” Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating a deceased human being definitely seem to be within the power and abilities that demons possess.

The closest biblical example of a “haunting” is found in Mark 5:1-20. A legion of demons possessed a man and used the man to haunt a graveyard. There were no ghosts involved. It was a case of a normal person being controlled by demons to terrorize the people of that area. Demons only seek to “kill, steal, and destroy” (John 10:10). They will do anything within their power to deceive people, to lead people away from God. This is very likely the explanation of “ghostly” activity today. Whether it is called a ghost, a ghoul, or a poltergeist, if there is genuine evil spiritual activity occurring, it is the work of demons.

What about instances in which “ghosts” act in “positive” ways? What about psychics who claim to summon the deceased and gain true and useful information from them? Again, it is crucial to remember that the goal of demons is to deceive. If the result is that people trust in a psychic instead of God, a demon will be more than willing to reveal true information. Even good and true information, if from a source with evil motives, can be used to mislead, corrupt, and destroy.

Interest in the paranormal is becoming increasingly common. There are individuals and businesses that claim to be “ghost-hunters,” who for a price will rid your home of ghosts. Psychics, séances, tarot cards, and mediums are increasingly considered normal. Human beings are innately aware of the spiritual world. Sadly, instead of seeking the truth about the spirit world by communing with God and studying His Word, many people allow themselves to be led astray by the spirit world. The demons surely laugh at the spiritual mass-deception that exists in the world today.

What  Tz... has said is true, ...back in the States there was a girl in our youth group that was into Heavy Metal music, her bedroom was filled with their memorabilia, when she became born again she suffered from demonic "oppression," ...which in turn caused her to start pulling out her hair, ...so she always wore a captain's hat, ...her mom told us she didn't like to go into her room because she felt there was "something" in there and her younger brother refused to go in.

One night her mom awoke to the sound of her daughter saying, "In the Name of Jesus!" she said she jumped out of bed and rushed to her bedroom door and when she opened it she stood "frozen," she saw her daughter escorting a demon out of her bedroom and down the hall all the while pointing her finger at it and repeating, "In the name of Jesus!" as the demon slowly back down the hall exclaiming all sorts of filthy, crude, obscene blasphemies about Jesus (her mother told us later) and finally backed through the exterior wall of their house and was gone.

The mom immediately called our pastor, who had been a missionary in Brazil and had observed and experienced many such things, ...he came to their house and they started playing Worship music in the room, singing and praising the Lord while they removed all of the Heavy Metal memorabilia, ...he asked the girl if they had it all and she said there was one particular item that she had been looking for for some time, one of here favorites, but couldn't find it, they went through the room looking in every nook and cranny and finally found it "hidden" in her room where she said she had/would never put it there. They placed all of the memorabilia in a steel garbage can and the next day they burned all of it, like they did in Acts 19:19.

My advice is to thoroughly search the room, the obvious will be recognized immediately and then, as if with a magnifying glass, ask the Holy Spirit to help you, you will know because when you find something occultic, He will react inside of you, you will "sense" it, collect every thing and burn it so that someone else won't stumble on it accidentally.

After the room is thoroughly and completely cleansed and purged, then dedicated the House to the Lord, give it to Him, ask Him to guard it, (this is what we have done with our house living on this very dark and occultic island), place a Bible in the boy's room, ...maybe after he is freed from outside influences he might even pick it up and start to read it.

This is already too long, so I won't add the similar experience when my wife's nephew brought an innocent "talisman" home from school into the bedroom where he and his sister were staying when they were young, ...we handled it the same way.

Lord bless

Many places that want business and more money advertise that there has been ghost sightings at their place. People are curious so the business gets more money.

Interesting. This reminds me of Achan in Joshua 7 and Rachel in Genesis 31.

This is true about the unfortunate young man. However, you needn't allow Satan to run rampant in your own personal matters. We do have authority over evil entities and influences in the name of Jesus, and we do not need to fear them. No one needs to be an expert in exorcism to pray against evil. Again, I'm speaking from experience for what would be almost 45 years.
