Nuggets Of Hope-Who Has Encouraged You?

Here is a thread to build each other up in the faith. "Therefore encourage (comfort) and edify (build one another up), just as you are already doing. (1 Thess 5:11) 

Quotes, true stories and poems are all great ways to do this.

I invite you to join with me in sharing uplifting things your brothers and sisters here have previously posted that have been a blessing (especially edifying) to you.

Don't forget to credit the person they came from. 

Things by others who are not members (such as people in your life, famous quotes that are inspiring, original stuff)...are all welcome. 

Please, no debate-triggering topics or negative posts. We all get enough of that. (Even on the daily news. lol) God bless you.

Not every discussion has to be a debate. Only posted this one so far,   but it sure did speak to me! 

"I just want to praise the Lord, and bless Him, and say that truly, there IS none like Him!

We are so frail, so feeble, and many times we fail, but God really is the Strength of our lives, and our Portion forever.

Sometimes we get so down, and are ready to give up.  It seems like all of God's waves and billows are going over us, and we feel like surely we are going to be overwhelmed and carried away in a flood dark and deep.  BUT GOD...oh those two words!!  BUT GOD...HE it is Who is Faithful.  HE WHO began a good work WILL PERFORM IT till the day of Jesus! 

I too have been going through mighty struggles both within and without; yet time and again, the rod and staff of Christ comfort me, and teach me to fear no evil, for, whether I see anything or not, or "feel" anything or not ' HE IS WITH ME, as He is with all of His flock!  We walk by faith and not by sight!

To everything, too, there is a time of season.  I have been saved 36 years now, and wow.  Sometimes we're on the mountaintop - and sometimes in the valley; sometimes we lie in green pastures near those quiet streams, and other seasons it feels like we're walking through that barren howling wilderness!  God exercises His people in many ways, for He is continually working things out of us and working things in us!  Praise His name!  He is the Faithful Potter, and He uses many tools to work our lumps out and make us good clay so that He can fashion us to be vessels of honor for His glory!

May the Lord continue to shower you all with grace and mercy, light and truth, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and soon-coming King!"

Hi, There are so many that encourage me I could not possibly name them all, besides most if not all have done so to the glory  of God alone and would shudder at seeing their name given glory instead of our Lord. For they try to do all that they do to the glory  of God. They are the quiet servants seeking no praise nor fame for themselves.

But in general my encouragers are the many that  go about their day  rather consistently in appreciation  of our Lord's grace and mercy. They clean toilets in the local body of Christ buildings, they study all week to present the bery best  sermon they  can deliver, they fix widows air conditioning systems, they teach children in spite of their own very harsh to their body disease, they sacrifice time and personal assets to go about sharing the gospel of  Jesus. To me they are all heroes of the faith of Jesus. Each are soldiers in the army of my Lord and savior. None seek recognition  of their own service, yet I recognize so very many of them by the manner in which they do glorify  God.

This thread is both to glorify God and encourage one another. These are not mutually exclusive. One does not negate the other. 

When believers become aware that something they said or wrote helped a person, it gladdens their heart and strengthens their faith. They rejoice that a good outcome came of it.

They in turn give the praise back to God that the seed which they planted has blossomed. It is not as a way to seek recognition. They are satisfied simply to be a vessel used by God.

But it is nonetheless uplifting to them when someone communicates that they've blessed them by what they've posted. I believe this is the reason George has the reaction icons here. 

 

 

1 Corinthians 16:17-19 

¹⁷ I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.

¹⁸ For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge them that are such.

Acknowledge them. Paul told them to do this... We can see that edifying in this manner was a regular practice in the early church. So there is a biblical precedent for it.

"Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement)"...  In Acts 4:36 we see Barnabas was being given credit in that he was recognized (for his encouraging ways) by his very name  they gave him.

I mentioned this because it is actually the law. It is for clarification purposes so you don't lead people to think you were the one who wrote it. I underlined the "famous quotes" above because you can see how this could cause plagiarism.

I hope we can use this Nuggets Of Hope thread to lift up the name of Jesus and encourage each other through quotes, poems and stories. Be blessed, Worthy family.

There was a gentleman who came here, and told me the reason for having been placed, was due to a stroke of some sort. As we spoke together about it, he had apparently experienced this while driving, and crashed his car into a tree. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured, but it did result in a paralysis on the left side of his body. And he's now wheelchair bound. 

The other evening I visited his room, and programmed the television for closed captioning, as he had some rather difficulties with hearing adequately. Donald is a very sociable person, so we spoke for quite some time about a number of things. I used the opportunity to ask if he was a believer in Christ, and he said that he had been for quite a number of years.

Further taking the chance, I then asked if he wouldn't mind if I prayed for him. He told me he'd be ever so grateful for it, so we both joined together in prayer. Taking hold of his hand, and the other on his shoulder, I simply began asking the Lord about all Donald's concerns. The pain in his shoulder, his partial paralysis, and overall confusion. It was very evident. 

He in turn began praying for me as well. What a sweet gesture in turn this gentleman had! He asked God's blessing upon me, and how thankful he was that someone there was willing to offer to pray for him. Afterwards, I asked if he had a bible there in his room, and Donald said his was at home. We had some copies of the Gideon's, so I brought one to him.

Just yesterday, Donald came strolling into my room in his wheelchair, and thanked me profusely for just being willing to pray for him and his concerns. Such gratitude I've not known in my entire Christian experience! He expressed such a relief of anxiety and strain on his confused state of being. I just about cried right then and there. Wow. What a sweet guy.  

Paralysis is most often caused by damage in the nervous system, especially the spinal cord. Other major causes are stroke, trauma with nerve injury, poliomyelitis, cerebral palsy, peripheral neuropathy, Parkinson's disease, ALS, botulism, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, and Guillain–Barré syndrome.

Corrie Ten Boom was such a lovely lady! Thinking about her brings a smile to my face. She and her family rescued many Jews during the Holocaust. The price for this was the Concentration Camp. Her father was killed. Some of you may remember the book (and movie) "The Hiding Place." If Corrie were still here, I'd love to personally thank her. I'm sure you who know of her feel the same.

There are many wonderful quotes by her.  Here are a few I'd like to share with you. Enjoy.

I must say, I've been encouraged, uplifted and strengthened by everyone here at worthy, to those who listed there names,and to those who are quietly praying and uplifting me and my family. A special thank you to each of you, you all are important and I appreciate you all.

I also have so many preachers and teachers to be thankful for, over the many years God used many TV preachers to bring a word so many times when we needed it. As my husband layed in the hospital one day a preacher came on tv and began teaching that God is our strength and stronghold, oh how we needed to hear that at that moment. I was sent a book by a tv minister along with a personal letter that they felt lead to do this. I needed that because of what I was going though at that time. I was in a prayer line once and the minister made someone go get a book and gave it to be because of what was going on in my life. I was sitting in a garage once and a older lady came to me with a encouraging word then just left. God always knows what we need.Their are truly so many people from those in the local church, to family friends and strangers I am thankful for,really only God knows the countless times people have uplifted us and we them. I believe we will know this heaven... 

A special thank you to all of you here, really I mean that, each of you do a lot more then you may realize and I for one want to say I appreciate you, may God bless each of you ?

Absolutely dear friend, I agree with you. We do give all glory to God and we are to encourage each other.

The bible says ( Let not then your good be evil spoken of) I believe this is good and I  pray all will understand why you began this thread and can truly say thank you for helping us to give God glory and praise and be an encouragement to others. Thank you
