How can you have assurance of salvation ?

ITs God who gives a born again person the power (Grace) to live the separated/ holy life.

If you try to keep the commandments in your own power, then it will be "effort" that will fail.

But everyone who looks lustfully on another person has committed adultery. Have no Christians done that?

There are 2 types of Adultery found in the Bible.  One (1) is not spiritual.

1.)  Having mental or literal sensual/sexual relations with someone who is not your wife/husband.

2.)  Spiritual Adultery.   Is when a Christian no longer trusts in Christ alone to keep them saved, and they begin trusting in themselves to keep commandments, keep the Torah, etc, to try to stay saved.  Any SELF EFFORT that is committed by a Born Again Christian to try to stay saved, is an act of adultery committed against God/Christ.

A born again Christian is married to Jesus, and when you, as a Born Again Christian turn from your marriage vow of SALVATION and go back to the LAW to try to maintain righteousness, (remarry the law) you are literally trying to put yourself back under the Law's dominion as your spiritual husband, which totally rejects the Grace of God that has saved you thru Christ.

This is spiritual Adultery.

We can obey the Lord, or we can let Satan help us rationalize why it's okay not to obey the Lord.

I empathize with Jimmy Carter......I “ commit adultery in my heart every day.” So, what’s the point ? If we choose to go down the “ Performance Road” for our Salvation, the Standard becomes “ Perfection”. If the sin of lust does not trip you up—— I can ASSURE you, something else will. This was the ENTIRE POINT of the Law......it was given to “ shut you up”, become Contrite before the Lord, ADMIT that you can not and DO NOT obey the Laws Of God. Paul referred to the Law as “ an impossible system” , one that he nor his fathers could not keep—- and you think that “ You” have a chance?

Open your eyes ( you should know that only the Holy Spirit can do this saving act for you ) , swallow your Pride and do like the Publican did and cry out, “ Lord have Mercy on me , a Sinner”. After you are Saved, I can guarantee you that you will still have  lustful  thoughts and even Hateful thoughts.This is where you have something on the guy that did NOT turn to God, putting your COMPLETE Faith in Jesus..... “ His” impure thoughts and other countless sins are continuing to build up in a Book That will be opened at the Great White Throne Judgement and He will be damned because of them.On the other hand, if you have turned to God with Faith in the Gospel Of Grace...... “ Your” Sins have been forgotten , God “ remembers them no more” Pray to God that He shows you how to REST in His Grace, a Grace made possible by the Finished Work Of The Cross or discover when it is too late that they are being kept track of in detail and will be used to condemn you.Grace will cover ALL of those impure thoughts of lust  and hate— sins that you are not even aware of.Grace and forgiveness is available for all! All you have to do is “ cash in”. Do that by RESTING in the Gospel Of Grace.Plus Nothing.

So, the problem isn't the person, its that they didn't start at the right Theological/Doctrinal gate,=  so they never got on Track.

Here is how you get them on Track, starting 10 mins after they are Born again.    

Start with Hebrews 13:9.   That's the starting gate, and if a brand new believer is not taught this, then they will end up chasing for life,  what that verse says not to chase.

 After you get them grounded in that verse, then you take them directly to PAUL's Epistles and only the Gospel of John, and you keep them there till they can Teach not only "Justification by faith".. but WHY its only "justification" by faith.

Once they are Theologically there, then its time for them to leave the nest and shine the Light, and you never have to worry about them showing up on a Christian Forum trying to prove if you don't keep the commandments you can "lose your salvation".

I woke this morning, with this scripture--or shortly after waking.

Psa. 27:5 For in the time of trouble

He shall hide me in His pavilion;

In the secret place of His tabernacle

He shall hide me;

He shall set me high upon a rock.

Psa. 91:1    He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

It has seemed to this one, that the warfare has been jacked up a notch of late.

I would advise someone who is committing adultery every day in their heart to stop doing it.
