I apologize for asking a stupid question but there are 1.5 BILLION people in China and about 80,000 got the virus and only a small fraction of those unfortunately passed away. And people said if China had handled it better even less would have died. Every life matters and we should do everything we can to contain the virus,  but this virus pales in comparison to the pandemics of the past.

Maybe I am missing something but it does seem like there is a bit of overreaction which is making matters worse and bringing down the economy.

I agree that we shouldn't over react, but it isn't over yet.

It’s not over and we need to follow the advice of our government, but it’s a problem that has a solution. I thought panic occurred when there was no solution. We seem to be causing additional problems by the way we are reacting to this virus. That is what’s scary to me.

The numbers are relatively low and contained only because of their quarantining and lockdown efforts.  Nevertheless their hospitals have been and are still dangerously overwhelmed to the point of having to deny life-saving treatment to many who need it, as in Italy.  Not to mention having to deny treatment to patients for other health concerns, who don't even have the virus, because of hospital resources and staff being allocated to deal with the overwhelming number of coronavirus patients.  This is a public health emergency, make no mistake about it.  Not that we should fear, but that we do need to take it seriously and do our best to avoid catching or spreading this virus, perhaps not necessarily as much out of the fear of dying ourselves if we are healthy/young, but FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS generally.   The fewer that catch this and need to go to hospital in order to survive, the better it will be for everyone...........and the more we all make the effort the sooner this will go away (we hope and pray).

It’s an emergency that needs to be taken seriously, but it’s a solvable emergency. I guess raising kids in the era of mass shootings, which there seems to be no solution, has made me not panic over things that can be solved.

In any case, I hope everyone does the right thing to protect themselves and others, and uses this time to bond with family and neighbors. In a strange way I think we needed this. Not the deaths but a reminder that we need God and one another.

Well, I would say it's not so solvable for all those who have died and are going to, and those who love them....and the economic fallout is not going to be a picnic....but I agree very much that we do need a wake up call and shaking in our sleepy complacent church and Christ-rejecting society.  In a strange way, it feels right...I know just what you mean.  For one thing it is to get us to look up.....when everything that can be shaken will shaken.

I think such precautions are being taken as to contain the spread as much as possible, or we can let things go on with some precaution and live with the results, which would be a social experiment of sort.   Better be safe than sorry may be the application that is being implemented now.    The experts in infectious disease who have been studying these things for years should be the ones to have the final say IMO.  Our spiritual side of life is what each believer has to  come to terms with concerning his mortality.

When the government shuts businesses down, they are taking away people's ability to support themselves. Maybe that should enter into their decision-making.

They are trying to flatten the curve -- so that business can be back to normal within 6 weeks.

Without flattening the curve, you'd have a lot of patients without healthcare because the system would simply be overrun with patients -- with many simply being left to die.

This is why the measures are being taken as they are.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
