Well, "communication with the dead" is actually getting in touch with them... like channeling....for example...

(snip)

Asking for intercession is just asking the person or saint to pray for your intention.

There is a huge difference.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If you are not "getting in touch with them," then how do they "hear" the prayer?

...as she has been exalted above all mankind.

Not even close! Only Christ has been exalted above all (Phil. 2:9; Eph. 1:20-21; Heb. 1:4; Acts 2:33; 1 Pet. 3:22)!

Her Son sits at the right hand of the Father and she sits at His offering prayers of intercession on our behalf and extending God's grace to us.

She sits at Jesus' right hand? Not so! Mary has no part in extending God's grace to us. Only Christ Jesus does (John 1:17; Rom. 3:24; 5:21; 1 Cor. 1:4; 2 Tim. 2:1; Eph. 1:6)!

She, like Ruth, is the one who harvests the fields for God. She is the one who brings the lost to Jesus and Jesus to the lost.

Wrong again! First of all, the angels are the reapers of the harvest in the last days (Matt. 9; 13) Secondly, in this age the ones who bring the lost to Jesus are us the children of God in the church! Mary has absolutely no part in the spreading of the gospel in this age or in the age to come.

Ok, we've about done this to death IMHO. Most 'real' or authentic Christians believe it's WRONG to pray to anyone OTHER than Jesus. Lets be done with it ok.

The Catholic Church does honor Joseph as a great Saint, but Mary is honored as the greatest Saint of all. She was the vessel through which Jesus became God/Man. Joseph is not the actual father of Jesus, but Mary is the Mother of God. This is very hard to understand for many people, even Catholics. I wouldn't expect a non-Catholic to understand this, but I at least want you to have an idea of what the Catholic teaches. I hope this answers your question about Joseph.

Let me add this about Mary. Mary alone had the priviledge of being the Mother of God the son, Jesus Christ. The theological term is theotokos, which is Greek for "the God-bearer". Giving flesh to the "Word made flesh" grants Mary an excellence and a dignity beyond any other creature. This thread was started by a person calling Mary just another "ordinary women." Can you imagine the intimate union and spiritual effects of having God physsically present in you for nine months and then giving Jesus his human nature??? Because Mary as true Mother gave to Jesus what our mothers gave to us, a nature like her own, she is rightly the Mother of God. Mary was not just an ordinary women.

It should be noted that this greek term is nowhere used in the New Testament, but is a term developed by Catholic Theologians. I just wanted to affirm this because people might think because a greek word is used it is implied that the greek was taken from the NT. It was not

Grace to you,

Let me add this about Mary. Mary alone had the priviledge of being the Mother of God the son, Jesus Christ. The theological term is theotokos, which is Greek for "the God-bearer". Giving flesh to the "Word made flesh" grants Mary an excellence and a dignity beyond any other creature. This thread was started by a person calling Mary just another "ordinary women." My Goodness? I have seen twice tonight in this thread darn near Blasphemy if not outrightly so?

Mary gave Jesus her nature? Her nature was one of sin. She was born of the will of man.

It was God's Holy Spirit that fostered the nature of Jesus. Mary is renown for her Obedience and Faith to God's Word. This did not make her God.

Pax,

You just said that Mary Created God? In so many words. Is that what you are trying to say? Think about this clearly now?

If Mary was not just an ordinary woman? What was she? Did she have parents of the nature of Adam first?

I wouldn't expect a non-Catholic to understand this

I'm being sincere here. I was Catholic at one time so I do understand exactly what you are saying.

It's not really too hard to undersatnd at all. You are elevating Mary to some status she didn't enjoy in this world and certainly not in the Kingdom. You are saying she has Christ's ear and that He does listen to her counsel. That she gave Him His nature. Gave flesh to the Word made flesh. Yet no flesh shall Boast before the Lord. If Mary boasts in anything other than Christ? What then?

Is Mary greater than Jesus? That sure is what you are saying.

But look at what the Scriptures say:

Matthew 12:46-50

46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." 48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."

Does it look as if Jesus exalted Mary?

Luke 11:27-28

27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!" 28 But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"

And BTW - God gave flesh to Jesus, not Mary! All Mary did was to donate an egg an her womb. God did the rest (to include teh forming and fashioning).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
