Whatever you call someone, they will still be the same person on the inside. Some people change their name legally. And some people have nicknames. A name is not set in stone and so there is nothing false about using an alternative name. Hi Ervin my first name is Lawrence most of my friends call me Paul my middle name, I never really gave it any thought, though not sure if this could done after creating a account maybe through a moderator or something.
