We must do that with unbelief as well. We are limiting tbe Holy One of Israel, refusing to believe we are new  creatures with new natures. knock off some rotten apples may seem like the. correct solution, but the problem is, the tree will just crank out more, maybe different ones, hut still sin.

Until we come to finally HATE our old nature and its constant bringing forth bad fruits, divorce included, and lay the axe to the  root of the tree of self by reckoning it dead, we will simply sit here debating one another with our religious wisdom and the world will continue to refuse to listen to us or seek the Savior, because rhey do not see Him IN us, divorced or not.

Yes - 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 - New English Translation (2005)
1. So, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2. I fed you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready, 3. for you are still influenced by the flesh. For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people?  -

behaving like unregenerate people - In the life of mercy and grace when we are waiting to pass over into victory - you must ask the question - what was Paul talking about? 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 - Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 17. If someone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, which is what you are.

For God's temple is holy - this is what we have lost as a people of faith.  We made Jesus as we take Jesus into our life what we want Jesus to be not who Jesus is.  You would say that can't be true - Paul says it clearly in Corinthians.

As this church as a modern church of business with paid Pastors and buildings we have little of that which heaven sees as needed.  Throw out 90% of those that teach in this modern church to get down to the core groups that have a measure of real faith in hope of salvation.  The blood of Christ is taught as the only hope of salvation.  That salvation becomes the primary subject.  You need John 3 and all is well.  Then you need to understand you took the magic pill and you are healed for life.  There is a measure of truth in that statement based on the nothing but the power of the blood of the Lamb of God.

There is life in the blood for the one who walks with Jesus Christ.  It is your walk that brings you closer to the Holy Father.  He our Father is in the throne room of God.  Are you walking in the outer court with just enough of God?  Do you have a concern about your walk ?

The walk with Jesus hand in hand would have to be a Holy walk.  If you see Jesus walking with you as you enter those dark place that the flesh of your life always takes you are foolish.  If you don't have Jesus as the jewel of your life and the center of all that you do you walk a foolish life as a fool with the blood of the Lamb at the door to heaven.  One foot in the flesh of life and one foot trying to keep it in the Kingdom of God. If you live the life of sin and confession you mock God.  You take the blood of the Lamb as a gift to allow you hope in your sin for heaven. The blood of the Lamb is the door to allow you to find the Holy way.  Grace and mercy have been offered to allow you to find the Holy way.  Not for you to walk in sin knowing that all you have to do is pray for mercy.  I am a sinner is the statement of the old man.  I was a sinner is the statement of a soul that has been cleaned and washed in the pure clean water that flows form that fountain.

You are lying to God and to yourself as you fall for the lies of Satan in the death of this flesh.  You have to die to find life and this death leads to a life in victory over sin and IF you do sin you have one to call out to.  Jesus will not be mocked - if you are trying to hold onto the life of sin and find heaven you are double minded and will never find the rewards of that city.  To enter into that city your walk of hay wood and stubble will not be found worthy to enter into that city and you will suffer lose as your life is measured.   You will not lose your soul but you will suffer lose.

Most of all you lose that daily walk of peace with our Lord.  You don't think there is anything better than your salvation and you would be completely wrong in that understanding.  It is the joy of the pure Holy way that brings a peace that is heaven on this earth in your flesh before you move to that next place.  It is faith and a complete faith that is expected of you.

Blessing

It shows you that people are only getting married to obtain more wealth and not really for Love.

Yes, this is nothing new. There have been many who have married for weath and power through the years. In 2 Samuel 3:13 it seems possible that David taking back Michal could  have had something to do with obtaining more wealth and power.

Jesus consistently taught that David‘s example should take priority over the Law of Moses in establishing the New Covenant?  It turns out that not only does God consistently approve of David‘s example of breaking up divorce and remarriage and returning his wife to himself, her first spouse, but God actually considers David‘s actions so perfect of an example that, from Jeremiah to Hosea, God constantly uses David‘s example as a picture of his insistence of returning Israel to Himself (excerpt vic66)

Jesus consistently taught that David‘s example should take priority over the Law of Moses? Are you sure, Vic?

Jesus specifically asked, Have you not read what David did? Matthew 12:3Mark 2:25Luke 6:3 (1 Samuel 20-22, Psalms 52

A critical unbiased analysis needs to be done, Vic.

A critical, logical, unbiased analysis needs to be done. I understand that it is a lot to read and no one is going to read it. But, whatever :read:

Another affirmative amen from me on that.

How unfortunate is the situation in where a woman is beaten senselessly and her husband abandons her and her children after several years of this tri-weekly drunken tirade. Leaves and never returns home again. The spouse and her children are then virtually penniless and unable to keep up the house payments, thus losing it in default. They do not receive child support, neither does the wife obtain alimony.

The church they have attended does not excommunicate her or the children, but does nothing in spiritual support. Does not call on the phone or make a visit to the home either. Therefore, he also abandoned his ministerial pastorship duties as is stated in the word of God to do. I AM THAT CHILD. But let me tell you something else. While that church and their congregants ignored our needs, allow me to state this:

The Lord NEVER left or abandoned US!

RE-EDIT - RE-POST

I just wanted to make a clarification on my previous post to personalize this. This is me and my family.

Thank you for the opportunity to make this statement.

True, salvation is certain for us believers:

But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:8-10)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:26-30)

i do not read Jesus saying if you divorce, you aren’t saved or are excommunicated from the church.

Thanks for bringing this up Kristin. ?

On 7/13/2020 at 9:19 AM, Exegesis said:

Long-winded.  Self-righteous, but it isn't what I asked for.  I'll try again:

You have yet to provide evidence, textually, that says a person who remarries is in a continual state of adultery.  Show biblical proof for that.  Divorce is not always wrong and it is certainly not unforgivable.  Neither is adultery.  If I am married, and the other person divorces me, for whatever reason, I am under no obligation to remain unmarried, whether that other person lives or dies.

You are saying, without putting it into actual words, that divorce and/or marriage are unforgivable sins.  And you base that on no biblical standard, because there is only one unforgivable sin in the Bible.   I'm waiting for textual proof.

You are cherry-picking, and this is by no means good, or accurate exegesis.  You are also clearly saying that God punishes one person for the supposed sins of another.  We know that is false.

GENESIS 2:21-24
21 And Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place:
22 And the rib, which Yahweh God had taken from man, he made a woman, and brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cling to his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

MATTHEW 19:3-9
3 The Pharisees also came to him, tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4 And he answered and said to them, Have you not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cling to his wife: and they two shall be one flesh?
6 Therefore they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man separate1.
7 They say to him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement?
8 He says unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
9 And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery: and whoever marries her who is put away commits adultery.

Mark 10 King James Version (KJV)

10 And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

Luke 16:18
“Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery."

1 Corinthians 7:39 kjv
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

Roman 7

For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Mal

14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

people who claim to be Christians and remarried while their first married spouse is still alive are not saved and in adultery. see above
