Prostitute = Whore = Harlot. Work it out from the preceding verses...its a metaphor.

The whore of Babylon is a metaphor depicting all the very real corruption, deception, and exploitation of sinful man attended by the chaos and confusion of Politics, Commerce, and Religion under the power of Satan. The final zenith of the natural wickedness of man results in the deposing of the whore of Babylon from atop this metaphorical first beast from the sea where she has become a restrictive burden, and in juxtaposition to this fulfillment of prophecy we have the man of wicked nature who is the second metaphorical beast from the earth, rising to the pinnacle of power to be enthroned in Christendom as a P.O.P.E (President Of Planet Earth), whence he imposes his mark on those who are deceived into receiving him as their prophet. The apostasy from genuine Christianity will facilitate the insinuation of this false (possibly Jesuit) prophet into the hearts and minds of false converts, leaving only a remnant who will be martyred for their faith during this great tribulation.

I believe it is the United Nations (of the world) spewing forth their so called moral values that everyone is supposed to obey and follow.

GLOBAL MOTIVATION

 

A Global Government needs the hearts and minds of the people to agree with it. Thus there is needed the motivating force of religion to drive people towards a Global Government. It is the unifying reason that people will give allegiance to.

 

Thus we see that the United Nations has become the International

 Institution to promote the New Age one-world religion spirituality.

 

 

THE UNITED NATIONS (UN)

 

The UN has issued a Global Charter called `The Earth Charter.` This is promoted as the `new scripture.` It stresses that man is his own saviour. By saving `mother earth,` they say, that we will once again return to an idyllic garden of Eden.

 

All aspects of society are being involved - religions, business, education, health, entertainment, sport and civil society. Everyone is to work towards the same goals, with the same moral values. These goals are called the `Sustainable Development Goals,` (SDG) officially known as `Transforming our World,` and popularly known as `The Future We Want.`

 

To achieve these Sustainable Development Goals the United Nations uses the Common Values of the `Earth Charter.` The document makes a declaration for a just, sustainable, peaceful global society and its mission is to promote -  

 

`A Global society founded on a shared ethical framework.`

 

Global Moral Values & their meaning.

 

These are – respect, responsibility, justice, trustworthiness, civic virtue & citizenship, etc

RESPECT – like tolerance & inclusive – means appreciation for people & lifestyles (pagan & promiscuous, different sexual preferences……)

 

RESPONSIBILITY – refers to the `common good` of the community, where individuals must yield to the collective interests. (Socialism)

 

CIVIC VIRTUE & CITIZENSHIP – are also open ended. Compliant citizens must be ready to conform to changing rules & evolving duties.

 

People are made to think that they are to blame for all the world`s ills, diseases, poverty, crime, inequality and thus to get rid of these guilt feelings people give over their personal responsibility to the UN`s plans and goals.

 

The Global Charter was drafted in coordination with a hard law treaty designed to provide an integrated legal framework for all environment development law and policy. It is called the `International Covenant on Environment and Development.` Governments are required to adhere to its ever increasing requirements.

 

Thus we can see that the United Nations, the arm of the G20,  is bringing together all areas of society to believe in this new religion  of `Mother Earth.`

The Whore of Babylon?  The prostitute?

Well, it's not a literal or singular woman.  It's not literally Babylon - as in one geographic nation on a map.  It's a spiritually blasphemous "grip" on many nations, peoples, and religious organizations.

• Some say it's the Catholic church gone 100% into heresy.  Yes.  It's that, in part.
• Some say it's Rome, the nation.  Could be, in part.
• Some say it's Jews refusing to come to Christ and opposing him.  Yes, could be.
• Some say it's Protestant churches entrenched in their own heresies.  Yes, it could be.

Whatever or whomever it includes, it is a system of beliefs practiced HEAVILY and with great PURPOSE in opposition to God and his truths.  It will encompass people groups from all over the world.  It is what will be destroyed when Christ returns.

Hi there, brother....  In chapter 17, we learn that the great whore who "sitteth upon many waters (peoples of the world)" is not a woman at all, but is in fact that Great City, (Mystery Babylon) which will reign over the kings of the earth, the city where the beast, Satan, sits atop the one world political and religious systems; the city in which the son of perdition sits in the temple and claims he is Jesus Christ. The woman is that great city, Jerusalem, where also our Lord was crucified.

This is pretty close conceptually.  The OT uses the symbol of a harlot most often in association with apostate Israel.  That doesn't automatically point back to Jerusalem though.  Apostate Israel has had tremendous influence in the U.S. in the past couple of centuries.  If I had to pick a city as the center of their influence, it'd be NYC.  That's also where the globalist government, the UN, is headquartered (the feet of iron and clay).  It would be worth the effort to research the influence of apostate Israel's money in the US and around the world for at least the last century. 

When Jerusalem was referred to allegorically in Rev 11:8, God chose Sodom and Egypt to do so, not Babylon.  The term "great city" is not a unique identifier and shouldn't be used to link Babylon to Jerusalem.

Agreed.  Babylon, in its broadest context, is the influence of Satan's kingdom on the human race.  In its end time context, it is the influence of apostate Israel on the world, largely through the U.S.
