If you'd committed the unpardonable sin you wouldn't be concerned about losing Him. One who has been given over to a reprobate mind doesn't care about losing their salvation. Welcome to Worthy by the way! We're glad you're here. Please rest in Jesus, His hold on us is much stronger than ours on HIM and He doesn't let us go very easily. The Word tells us to dwell on good things. When these thoughts come in and start plaguing you, please go read God's promises. Truth drowns out the lies. 1 2

Hello Caitlin, and Welcome to Worthy! I don't think a person born-again, and saved, has to worry about the unpardonable sin. A person saved is indwelled by the Holy Spirit (indwelled means the Holy Spirit resides within those saved). To begin, the context was that Jesus was performing miracles at the time and had cast demons from a man. The Pharisees (a type of priest at the time), had credited the most evil in the universe, Satan, for the miracles instead of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was warning the Pharisees of blasphemy for their public statement to the crowd. Read this short passage to see the context. Matthew 12:22-31 (NLT) 22 Then a demon-possessed man, who was blind and couldn’t speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see. 23 The crowd was amazed and asked, “Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?” 24 But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, “No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.” 25 Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. 26 And if Satan is casting out Satan, he is divided and fighting against himself. His own kingdom will not survive. 27 And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said. 28 But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. 29 For who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger—someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house. 30 “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me. 31 “So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come. If you were there at the time, watching Jesus performing those miracles, and joined in with the Pharisees who said it was Satan instead of the Holy Spirit doing the work, I suppose it would have applied to you, too. But you were not there, you are here. Secondly, if you are born-again, and saved you won't lose your salvation if the happen to slip up and sin. Those saved are living under Grace, and not Mosaic Law. Of course, if a person goes out on a sinning spree after they claimed to be saved, they probably were not saved in the first place. Salvation is a gift from God that a person has accepted. You can see in the Scripture below that we are saved by Grace, and that God does not change his mind about the gifts He gives, and again, Salvation is a gift. (ESV) Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Romans 11:29 Amplified Bible (AMP) For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable [for He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call]. 2 2 2

But I feel better now Shalom Caitlin, Dirty cruel n profane words are abundant around us which came from people, readings, music n movies. This can penetrate into our subconscious mind and remain as memory because our body is weak and corruptible and sinful, inherited from Adam n Eve. We cannot erase those wicked thoughts from our mind as we are contaminated with dirty words everyday, until we inherit incorruptible new body, 1 Cor 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. Submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit of Jesus and ask for protection from His blood who has defeated the enemy for good. All sins even blasphemy towards sinful people will bring people to hell because we are called to forgive. So calm yourself, rebuke the wicked thoughts everyday with the Words of God and regain peace. In Jesus name Amen. Edited August 16, 2020 by R. Hartono

We need to remember to dwell on God's promises in the Word. And prayer helps our minds, too. 2 1

It's like a mental version of Tourette's and I feel really bad about it. But it turns out that this is a somewhat common problem and fear amongst believers. Probably because it's a very effective way for the enemy to get us locked down in fear and going around in mental circles. Aside from prayer and renewing our minds I think one of the best things we can do for ourselves when thoughts like those come up is to let them pass. For a lot of people when they do things like argue with those thoughts, mentally or verbally, it makes them stand out even more. That's actually been noted in certain treatment methods of OCD. Something else I've found helpful is to train yourself to respond in a way that doesn't draw attention to those thoughts. When they come up get in the habit of distracting yourself with something that doesn't engage those thoughts. Something like thanking God for the good in your life and going over the ways you've been blessed can be good. Find what works for you and don't be afraid if it takes a while and alternating approaches. 1

I'll share the words of our Lord before continuing further. "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." (Matthew 15:11) Your worry regarding these thoughts demonstrates they aren't intentional. If such things were springing from your heart then you wouldn't be concerned in the least. They would be an expression of the desires of your heart. Clearly they aren't. Yes, many of us have experience with such things so you're not alone. As others have written these thoughts can spring from a wide variety of sources, even the "random noise" of the mind. Take heart and trust in the Son of God who chose you before the foundation of the world. He is faithful to cleanse you of unrighteousness and keep you in Him.
