It seems that many don’t believe that the promises in the OT are often only for the people of the OT.
However, this requires that we read the OT and pick and choose what can be true for us and what isn’t.
I don’t see where in the New Testament that blessings are cancelled. In fact, in 1 Timothy 4:13 it Paul told the new believers to read the scriptures, which was much of the OT at that time.

1 Timothy 4:13 NLT
[13] Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.

Psalm 25 says that those who fear him will live in prosperity

Psalm 25:12-14 NLT
[12] Who are those who fear the LORD? He will show them the path they should choose. [13] They will live in prosperity, and their children will inherit the land. [14] The LORD is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant.

Also

Proverbs 28:25 NLT
[25] Greed causes fighting; trusting the LORD leads to prosperity.

Are some blessings stated in the OT cancelled by the NT? If so, which ones and why?

Yes there who read the OT verses that promise benefits or prosperity always read verses that are applicable to a people group to individuals and equally they ignore the fact that the blessings are conditional on compliance with OT law.

I fully realize well meaning hymns have numerous errors in quite a number of them. Mom always loved gospel classics and passed that affection down to me. She often sang hymns and praise choruses even without the accompaniment of musical instrumentation. After all, we were Church of Christ and that particular branch of denomination does not accept pianos, organs, guitars and/or percussion instruments. (drums, cymbals, tambourines)

"Every promise in the book is mine - every chapter, every verse and every line."

You gotta love that! I most certainly do!

Every Promise In The Book Is Mine

Lyrics

Artist: Sensational Nightingales

Album: Miscellaneous

Genre: Christian

Every promise in the book
Every promise in the book is mine
Every chapter, every verse and every line
All are blessings of His love divine

Every promise in the book is mine
Every promise in the book is mine
Every chapter, every verse and every line
All are blessings of His love divine
Every promise in the book is mine

By His strive, the book says I'm healed
Until the day of redemption
The book say's I've been sealed
(According to the same book)
To prosper and be in health is right in line

Every promise in the book is mine
Every promise in the book is mine
From Genesis to Revelation
Every chapter, every verse and every line
They all are blessings of His love divine
Every promise in the book is mine

The book says, "Delight yourself in the Lord
You can have what's in your heart"
It also says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ
He's got a brand new start"
And it also says, "Knock and the door shall be opened
Seek and you shall find"

Every promise in the book is mine
Every promise in the book is mine
From the very first chapter
Every chapter, every verse and every line
Everything in between, all the way down to the end
Every line, they all are blessings of His love divine

Every promise in the book is mine
On resurrection morning
When that last trumpet sounds
And all that have died in Christ
They begin to rise up from the ground
Think about this

Then we that remain and we that still alive
Will then find out that
Every promise in the book is mine
Yes, it's mine
Yes, it's mine
Yes, it's mine

Yes, it's mine
Yes, it's mine
Yes, it's mine
Yes, it's mine
Oh, yes, it's mine

They all are blessings of His love divine
Every promise in the book is mine
They all are blessings of His love divine
Every promise in the book is mine

We cannot simply parroting OT verses such as Psalms n demand God to bless us like David.

Early churches were fed to lions, did David know this.

Thanks for your reply.
I agree that we cannot state we are a Christian and expect blessings to flow.

I use an analogy of an army squadron of my perspective

Most squads often sit around waiting for orders, not really knowing what is the plan is. Some squads are destined to be in the fight of the battle, some are destined to be on the supply lines, some are cooks,  some are destined to stay in the home country and train others. ALL are needed. All that train well and are committed are well regarded by the commanders and are recognized for their achievements. And those that are humble are especially well regarded by their commander.
Yes, some sacrifice a LOT more than others. And some make the ultimate sacrifice for sure. God’s blessings on their thoughts and hears is amazing. The other 80% to 90% that make the army work also need to train well, be committed, and will be recognized by the commander.

The Christians that make the ultimate sacrifice must fiercely have the spirit of the Lord in them. God is taking the clay and made them and blessed them, I would believe that God also richly blesses the clay that became cooks and mechanics and accountants that make the organization work.

Just my perspective, thanks for your insights.

Interesting when a conclusion is drawn by looking only at the tough stories. When looking at all the data, many true believers are hugely blessed. God is the potter and can make a pot and out where He wants for His purposes.  I don’t disagree with you that some believers have a tough life.
I don’t know the beggar Lazarus’ story. Was he as righteous? Was he a religious person that followed the commandments as best he could or not?  I don’t know.
We are called not only to be holy and righteous but need to think for ourselves. Was that Lazarus?

Thanks for the feedback, helps me to think out my original proposal.

I asked you did David know early christians were fed to lions.

Paul endeavoured to gather donation for the poor saints in Jerusalem.

Did David ever know that poor Lazarus died in front of the rich man's house n rested with Abraham ?

If this happened to David wud he still write praises in Psalms ?

Sometimes we all go through trials, sometimes severe trials.   But in the midst of suffering, we still need to be grateful to God and praise Him.   We need a thankful heart.   I think it would make us feel worse if we were not willing to thank God or be grateful in our trials.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
