and just as a note to some,,,,   I have friends who simply could not handle the reality of it....   and I think that's why we poke fun at it...

However how do we really deal with the things that go on Halloween night....    there is very very little darkness that is involved with the season in public...   and very few here understand what goes on within the darkness....      but the question is do we condemn the funny things and the jokes that deal with it....

I'm glad you believe Halloween is a night that evil, and those who accept it, are more active.

There are several reasons we ought not to take part in the funny parts of Halloween. First is because we are supposed to be emulating Jesus. If Halloween had existed in His day I think He would have done His best to ignore it. That's what I do. Second by posting jokes about Halloween it's like you are condoning it. Most Christians are weak willed. Remember what Paul said about eating meat that had been sacrificed to an idol? (actually I often wonder if Paul realized there were real demons behind those idols) Paul said since those idols meant nothing to him he could eat that meat. To Paul it was simply food and food was rare in Paul's day. But if a weak willed believer saw Paul eat the meat sacrificed to the idol that could stumble that believer, so Paul wouldn't do it. I doubt that many people here don't think you are a Christian. You are one of the long time members and new believers probably look to you for what a Christian should behave like. I think I'm now in this category too. Haven't you noticed how many newer members don't even know what a sin is. I'm aghast by this. I'm going to say an odd thing but think about it awhile before you respond. I was raised RC but I left them 51 yrs ago. Today many Protestants are joining them. One reason, I was told, is because they agree on what things are. One good thing is they always taught their kids what sins are. If  I asked a Christian 18 yr old to name some sins he'd be hard pressed to answer. But if I ask an 18 yr old Catholic he'd probably have a list of 20 to 40 and then he'd tell me which are the most serious in the eyes of God. So even though the CC did nothing to feed me, I'm glad I grew up in the CC. I never thought I'd say that.

I'm not saying we should condemn anyone who celebrates Halloween, I'm saying we shouldn't take part in it. One of my neighbors likes Halloween and she got excited about it one day, but she's not a believer. All I said to her was I don't like Halloween. She caught on.

Same. I'm just here to be light hearted in the midst of the others.

I just want to say. That I am old enough to remember when none of this was an issue. I mean the church even had Halloween parties. It was just about fun and candy! That was all it ever was about.  I am glad I got to do that growing up. I am glad that I lived at a time before Halloween became an issue.   Now everything is an issue. Can't even put a tree up at Christmas without someone questing your love for Jesus.  Well that is all I have to say about that.

That is all fine and well. But I find myself being overly judge by other Christians on nearly everything I do. From what tv shows I watch, to what music I listen too, to what books I read or video games I play. Even what movie/tv streaming service I use. For me, showing the world the love of Jesus should be evidence of my Christian faith.  How I treat others should be evidence of whom it is I serve.

I'm sure you'll get a chance to say it again....    if no one gives you the chance I may just make sure myself....   I think it's healthy for everyone to express their feelings about it all....    and new Christians need to understand that we don't all agree on everything.

I'm OK with folks doing the pagan things in some cases, but witches for me is a special no no...   and the Easter bunny is pure evil...   we can discuss that come spring.

I just want people to understand that there are underlying things about these holidays that need to be addressed along with the fun....    and this is dealing with some things that God has not tolerated throughout history.....     talking or dealing with the dead and witchcraft are special no no's.   And it bothers me when people only look at the funny side and never really ponder on the reality of the darkness.....

It is indeed. That is known as our fruit. To the pure all things are pure but to the defiled, nothing is pure and everything is corrupted (Titus 1:15).

I anxiously await this years. I will decorate my Christmas tree while I read it. :24:

I too await the Christmas threads . . . but I can wait because its still a bit too early for that!

Which reminds me:

Back when I had my 2 cats, Christmas trees were a jungle gym for those two fur balls. One was a 17 pound Maine-Coon. She taught me that having the tree in the corner and anchoring it to both walls kept her from knocking it over. The other cat was a generic short hair who liked to steal the ornaments and hide them around the house from time to time. Non-breakable ornaments were a good idea, but I'd still find a few hidden around the house months later.

There is a "King Of The Hill" episode about this very thing. Anyone here watch "King Of The Hill?"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
