Your body stays in the grave until it is resurrected. If a person is a true born again believer their soul goes to heaven. If they are not a believer their soul goes to Hades until they are judged in the great white throne judgment and then sent to hell.

This is actually a deeper study that I realized it was. If I were not looking into something else I would actually bring more to the table.

Suffice it to say I have gone back and forth on it because I read various scriptures that if not compared with other scriptures can be misleading.

JohnD have you looked at the other scriptures concerning this? I'm sure you probably have.

Is it reasonable to infer or otherwise assume the body of Jesus was walking around without its soul or spirit? If that's what you or anyone else believes I would truly like to see the case for that view. Otherwise, I recommend that we don't proof-text individual verses and not abandon reason and logic but instead rely on whole scripture, not just the part we like because they support our position.

Such a thing is not suggested.

Jesus' physical ascent to heaven was post resurrection (Acts 1).

His Spirit ascent was pre resurrection (was while his body was in the grave (Matthew 12:39-40):

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Read the story of Lazarus n the rich man n Abraham is in gehena too under the earth.

There is life under the earth /gehena/sheol

Rev 5:3....no one in heaven or on earth or UNDER THE EARTH  is able to open.....

You know what spirits are that don't have bodies?   The evil ones that need to be cast out.
