Lust or love?

The word "love" is defined in 1 Cor 13:4-7.

One might see it as selflessness.

Lust can be a consumptive selfishness and burning desire.

The way I see it, love is love. Brotherly love is from God I assume. Therefor its Godly love. Look at Jesus words about the pharasees loving the chief seats. You guys are saying Jesus was just being sarcastic but other gospel writers tell the same story using another form of love. So there is no hidden irony.

I won't answer for anyone else. Might have been a misunderstanding. Jesus was clearly condemning the pharisees. I don't believe they knew what love was.

We wouldn't know what love is either had God not told us. Gods love suffers long. We dont like that part of love. We like to receive it but not necessarily give it.

i don't know how old you are, but with time and life experience and getting closer and closer to God, He can and will remove the problem of lust.  coming to Him with all our concerns, and being willing to let go and learn from His ways, leads to transformation in becoming more and more His new creation, and less of our old flesh nature. Just never give up asking Him for help and clinging close to Him for His guidance and answers.

I think adoration and reverence are partially descriptive of a "godly love" or a genuine reciprocal love for GOD. Not that GOD would need to revere us though. I think mercy/ grace, and loving kindness are also somewhat descriptive of the long suffering and patience of GOD...

Yes he was condemning them, but there was no hidden meaning to love in his words.
