When you read the bible and you get revelation moments, can you explain roughly the process by how it works for you?

E.g for me, first I need to understand what I’m reading, and this starts to reel in the revelation if you like, then I keep re-reading it seeking deeper understanding, this might take days, and often, that’s when the penny drops on something.

How does it work for you?

I would be interested to see an example of this for you. I once seen the Bible as largely a book of secrets that a certain approach would open up for me. While I believe study occasionally opens those secret doors of revelation as we are told in 2 Timothy 3:16,17, I now see the Bible as a Christian maintenance book. A life instruction book. A way to see how God operates in some circumstances. A reminder to us about what God has done, what He is doing and what He promises to do. It's a collection of books that re enforce one another. In doing so these books pinpoint certain key ideas and doctrines. The book is all about how God deals with men. It is not a book of science. It's a book of things God wants to tell us all.

Re-reading a known passage might glean more info if we gradually pick up other things that solidify an idea in the Bible from other places along with the Lord's leading. We can get too carried away on repetition in much the same way some people think praying one prayer over and over will bring them closer to God. There's a point where I think we glean the value of the passage and move on. Sometimes a statement is at face value. Other times a statement has a deeper intention. Some passages are symbolic. Others are not. Mainly though if we seek the Lord's leading He will speak to us from those pages in seeing what is mean't. The unsaved person reading the bible doesn't understand what the Spirit is or what it means to be filled with it. Christians have an edge here in seeing the things the lost might miss or not understand.

You bring up a very essential part of any Bible study and a good point. Understanding what it is you're reading. Who was the scripture intended to address? Is it still valid for others today? What was the context of the scripture? What is the message in it for us? Is the meaning a way we can see a trend in the way the Lords works with others or is it a direct command to us for something? How does the passage tie into the rest of the Bible? There will still be times we don't completely understand something. God will make a statement as a statement he intends us to know but not necessarily understand. It is not abnormal to read these kinds of passages since we are told we won't know it all until one day when we are with Him and it is revealed to us.

The prophetic books especially need a lot of study with respect to how they all line up with one another. Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel and other references to prophecy are important to study all together. Many men have gotten it wrong. Many men think they have it all right. I don't claim to know all of it. I believe these are the "meat" books that a person doesn't just pick up and immediately know. They take some study and even then there are questions. Suffice it to say, the Lord is returning for all that are His on the day He designated. The day no one knows exactly. The closest we can get to it is "close".

Like Starise said it is like being in a closed room which suddenly opens up into a bigger room, and the air is a little fresher, and the light is a little brighter and you have a Homer Simson "Doh!" moment

and the feeling lasts for a little while until you start wondering about what's behind the next wall...and the digging begins again

I've had biblical revelations that happened weeks, months, or years after I read the passage. But mostly my revelations come in my daily walk with the Lord, I think.

It works by the Spirit living in you giving you a kick in the pants to say 'wake up, pay attention!'

There is no mechanical process that one can go through in order to have experiences of God.

All one can do is to follow the ten C, study scripture, pray intelligently for the needs of others and to generally seek God.

You can’t get revelation personally....only the Holy Spirit can give you revelation through his word, also he talks to us through other people....God communicates with his children how “ HE” pleases.

2 Timothy 2:15

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Usually, when I study the Bible, when I come across a passage of scripture that I don’t understand, I’ll ask my Father about it and perhaps consult a good commentary.  Sometimes I don’t get an answer right away, but the Lord is faithful.  I may be doing chores, playing frisbee with my dog, or whatever, and suddenly, it’s as if the answer to my question just gently drops into my head and I say, “Ohhhhh!”D7FC3647-1397-44F0-9CDA-BAB196847B0A.gif.c9c814eb33ad809c6edbaf80847862f4.gif

I do get revelations all the time.  But let me clarify.

There are NO new revelations.  God has said all there is to say in the Bible.  What I mean by a "revelation" and I'm sure the OP means this, too,  is when the Holy Spirit gives me a much broader understanding of what the particular text is saying OR when there is something I need to dwell on or repent of and my text for the day is on that VERY subject.

Without the work of the Holy Spirit.....it's just ink on a page.

But - with the Holy Spirit and BY the Holy Spirit - it's the living, breathing Word of God that changes, saves, humbles, and sanctifies.

I study the words. If I don't understand them I go to a source human or otherwise that can explain them to me.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
