I am interested to know what you think about Jesus Himself asking God why, as follows . . .

Mat 27:45-46  Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.  (46)  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"

Only recently have I taken the time to ponder this verse in scripture.

My answer will surely be immature, but out of respect for your inquiry, I will share.

God and Christ existed in relationship together before time. A relationship not human realizable.

The difference between our relationship between ouselves and Christ, and Christ and God I believe is stated in the scripture "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love; as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in His love". John 15:10. There appears to be a oneness shared by Christ and the Father outside of their relationship with us. A relationship so pure that there was no "decision" on Christ's part to become incarnate and made man.

Christ's relationship with man was a relationship between a man, Christ, with the heart of God, and mankind.

When Christ went to the cross He took with Him the breach in reality that occurred when Adam and Eve sinned. The new reality, they were naked, and in darkness, separate from of God. In order to shift the reality to one of resurrection, Christ had to repair the breach. Christ entered into the sin at which point He was fully human without God. The relationship was breached and so Christ cried out to His Father, MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?

I would like to extrapolate a bit further but a new day awaits and I need some sleep.

Thank you.

A question that I have encoutered frequently, as it relates to out relationship to God, is whether or not it is acceptible to question God. Specifically, to ask God, Why?

My answer is "no" and this is my reasoning...

"Why" is a control question. We want the answer, typically during difficult circumstances, in order to regain control over our environment.

For example: When you ask, "why did this person have to die" aren't you really saying, "please give me the answer to my suffering and confusion" which would in turn, if God chose to answer the question, would give you "control over your situation and alleviate the discomfort".

Another example: 'why did I have to get laid off? I have a wife and kids at home that count on me." Aren't you really saying, "please tell me why this happened so that I can alleviate this discomfort." "I am scared."  "Please rid me of this unknowingness in order for me to gain back control over my circumstances."

We are asking"Why" to regain control of our lives during, usually, emotionally difficult situations.

God is not in the business of giving us control," ...for the righteousness shall live by faith". Galatians 3:11

It is during times of uncertainity that we are given the opportunity to receive the continued blessing of relying on God and His control while enriching our faith!

Life is a series of processess. When you are in one, there appears to be no end in sight. We want control, we want to ask "Why?"

It is relying on  God's "sight"; Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

And the Lord says, "I will never leave thee or forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5

For it is in His name we pray,

Blessings.

I think it's fine to ask God why. Moses, Joshua and david asked him, why? Several old and new testiment saints did. And so did Jesus. Why have you forsaken me?

Understanding is a gift of the Spirit. God makes clear his purposes to us. John 17, Jesus said,  this is eternal life. To know the one rrue God and his son. We will never know him or Understand him if WE we can"t ask him, why?  His thought abs ways are not ours.

Yes, the Lamb of God became the perfect sacrifice to appease the wrath of God in the divide between righteousness and unrighteousness. The contrast between the first and last verses of Psalm 22 is prophetic of this.

Psa 22:1  To the Chief Musician. Set to "The Deer of the Dawn." a Psalm of David. My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?

Psa 22:31  They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, That He has done this.

I was telling my wife about Moses talking to God "I am still not a good speaker. You know that I speak slowly and don’t use the best words.” Then the LORD said to him, “Who made a person’s mouth? And who can make someone deaf or not able to speak? Who can make a person blind? Who can make a person able to see? I am the one. I am the said to him,"

To just think about that is.. mind blowing. It didn't make God happy yet He picked AAron.  I said we think will just DUH do anything He says. In my own life when HE said "run" I didn't say ok lord.. no I said WHY? haha.. He said when God tells you to do something you don't question it you just do it. To simple cast all our cares on Him for He cares for us.. yet we hold onto things we know we can fix.. or at least I do at times praise GOD..

Jesus I'll never forget what you've done for me.. song playing 'Never Forget"

Try reading the Aramaic version. That is what they all spoke in those days. ;)

There's nothing amiss with asking why. Is this not why the Lord is our Teacher, so we may learn? There is a way to conduct ourselves before the Lord, a way which our Father in heaven esteems highly:

Honestly, withholding nothing from Him. The forthright please the Almighty for there is no lie upon their lips.

Nothing is hidden from His sight for God knows all things, to include the secrets of our heart. What measure of love, courage, and faith are required to speak truly to the Lord God? We seek His judgment in such a way and the Lord is pleased to grant our request, for this is in accordance with His will.

If we are angry at the Lord, confess this to Him. Rest assured He is intimate with our anger and the courage required to speak truly is commended by God. Indeed, when the Lord delivered me with a mighty hand I was angry with Him for a little while. Why? Because I wanted to die and He denied the longing of my heart. I pleaded with Him to destroy me but Christ declared that I would live with Him forever.

If we don't know or are confused, confess this to Him. Trusting in the Lord is also commendable, and those who place their trust in the Living One will not be dismayed at any time. I didn't understand why the Lord delivered me and so I asked this of Him; His Spirit was faithful to reveal His will so I might understand.

Be honest before the Lord and it will go well for you. :)

I've sometimes asked God "Why?" (as have many, many others).  I find that he sometimes tells me (much simplified, I'm sure) and sometimes not.  He is our loving Father and, like a human father, sometimes explains the "why" to his children and sometimes tells us simply to trust him.

I have experienced the Lord answering a question I hadn't asked yet, but was musing over a subject. This happened wonderfully a couple months ago. In doing so, He also let me know I was on the right track.

Perhaps He wants us to ask why in order that we will listen carefully for an answer in order to receive valuable information from Him.

Yes, this is probably true sometimes.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
