1 Peter 4 : 1 ....whoever has suffered in the flesh stop from sins.

Drugs, alcohol, porns, smoking are most common addiction of people of all age.

Why people choose enjoyment instead of stopping it and keep blaming God for not stopping their sins.

I don't believe any person who wants to draw near to God enjoys any addiction that keeps them away from Him.

Addiction- The fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.

By the very definition people who live  in the flesh are strongly compelled to do whatever it is. This is often a physical activity that holds a strong physical dependency for the individual because the body is in some way rewarded and that reward feels very good.

I'm not justifying addictions, I am only saying that addictions are never easy to give up since they have such a very strong hold on the person. For this reason pending a miracle most people can't snap their fingers and be free of addiction. It takes a lot of help and determination, God can change a heart to run away from these things or find them disgusting to the point where we want nothing more than to give it up. EVEN SO, some of these things have very potent powerful grips on people which means it might be a process and not a sudden change.

I question anyone who claims to be a Christian, lives in open sin or does something very unhealthy and is ok with it to the point of explaining it away as ok or in some way acceptable. Any sincere Christian caught in an addiction wants nothing more than to be free from it. The Holy Spirit won't let us rest living that lifestyle. The willingly sinful run from the light. Those who want to be clean run toward the light so they can let the Lord work in them.

It has to be said that just as guilty as those who partake in these things are those who make it possible. If no woman agreed to take take her clothes off for public movies and or pictures, if no one engaged in the drug trade, if people would stop growing tobacco ( even some of my Amish neighbors) This would make it more difficult to engage in these activities. Making a temptation readily available to a person who has a known weakness with it will have implications for those people on judgment day unless they get out of it and ask forgiveness.

I have never done drugs, but as I understand it they are easy to obtain if you want them bad enough. Cigarettes are sold almost everywhere. Booze is in many common places as well. How about porn? I compare it to an alcoholic with a well of booze. All he has to do is turn on the spigot. All anyone has to do is press a few buttons on a computer and they can be in places they should not be. Unlike booze porno is free almost everywhere. I'm not sure how the people promoting it even make any money?:noidea: Must be a satanic conspiracy to destroy the family and make Christians ineffective. Even in these circumstances I believe the Lord can deliver you. Find a brother or sister to hold you accountable.

The Christian only has one right choice. Give it to the Lord and allow Him to make changes in you. It might not happen overnight but it will happen if you persist and keep praying.

We suffer with our sins until God builds us up by His Spirit, and then removes them by His Holy Spirit.

It is by His grace that our sins are removed. This way, it is God who gets the glory. "Where is boasting then," Romans 3:27.  If we are able to overcome all our sins, then why did Jesus die? We have no control to stop our sin no matter how we try because we are dealing with the flesh which is very powerful. We can't do it, and will never be able to do it. But, only by the Power of the Holy Spirit can the flesh be subdued, and all of our sins be removed out of the way.

Some sins are very difficult to stop, like addictions, as others have said on this post.  Sometimes God don't just wipe the sin away, but will bare long with us for our benefit and growth.  This allows us to cry out to God, and want to change in our inner man.  This process strengthens the Christian and build them up.  This is God's doing.

Sin has a powerful allure, but it only leads us to unhappiness and suffering.

People who have drug or alcohol addictions are miserable. They are NOT having a time of their life. Stopping drug or alcohol abuse is not that simple as saying to one' s self... “ok, no more illicit drug abuse” and then simply not doing it. The body itself has become dependent and when the substance suddenly stops, the body can become violently ill and produce a range of withdrawal symptoms as it tries to adapt to the sudden absence of drugs or excess alcohol.

During addiction, the brain stops producing dopamine on its own and comes to rely on the illicit drug or alcohol for these effects. When people abruptly stop using them after becoming addicted, their brains produce lower dopamine levels — leading to symptoms like anxiety and depression.

Withdrawing from drugs and or alcohol can cause worse feelings of anxiety or feelings of nervousness, depression, jumpiness, brain fog, insomnia, nausea and vomiting, rapid heart rate, appetite loss, dilated pupils, clammy skin, tremors, agitation, hallucinations, severe confusion, seizures, pain, sleeplessness, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, or hot and cold flashes.

The above list of withdrawal symptoms is very, very unpleasant and makes it a difficult challenge to get off the addictions. It is NOT good for people who are drug or alcohol dependent to attempt to withdraw from the addiction on their own. They need medical help along with trusting God to see them through the process and on the road to recovery. These are folks who need our prayers, not our scorn.

I have witnessed a man in the grip of delirium tremens (DT), a life-threatening condition caused by withdrawal from alcohol. DT can arise two to three days into withdrawal.

There is shaking... shivering... sweating... hallucinations... and as I learned some time afterward, high body temperature and seizures may occur which results in death. @appy is quite right that addiction has a palpable effect upon the body and is nothing to be trifled with.

Since that time I have stood by, watching and listening to the agonizing ordeal of addicts suffering from heroin withdrawal. At times I can hear them on the street in this very room, and so I weep and pray for their sake. It tears the heart to hear their cries.

I omitted the mention of death being part of withdrawal symptoms because I am trying to encourage those with additions to seek medical help and be monitored by a medical professional during the process.  I don't want to scare people away from seeking help for getting off of illicit drugs.  They can die from drug and alcohol abuse as well.  I would rather see them get a second chance at life.

Amen.

And you forgot to mention that another withdrawal symptom can be death.

That's why you have to do it wisely and seek help..

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
