Yes, I am aware of the "modern sanhedrin sect", but their Biblical mandate has to be questioned:

1. There is no such thing as a modern Sanhedrin. They are just a group of men claiming, without any Biblical authority, to be the Sanhedrin. They have no power or authority—governmental or religious. God has not reestablished the Sanhedrin. And teaching that they are end-time agents is simply deception. They need Yeshua—just like you and me.
2. The last significant thing the Sanhedrin did was to add the 19th benediction to the Jewish prayer book late in the first century, declaring all Notzrim—Jewish believers—to be heretics. Since no Messianic Jew could recite this, it was used as a tool to root out Jewish followers of Yeshua from the Synagogue. Before that, they oversaw the martyrdom of Stephen—a Messianic Jew. Prior to this, they persecuted the apostles by beating them with the cat of nine tails; and before that, they missed the coming of Messiah and conspired with Pilate to have Yeshua crucified. They were not exactly a peaceful group promoting a Messianic or Christian dialogue.
3. If this group one day becomes recognized as the Sanhedrin, it seems they will make a deal with the antichrist for the rebuilding of the Temple (Dan. 9:27). So, I guess in that sense, they could have an end-time role.

In fact this week the Sanhedrin announced the preparation of anointing oil for the Messiah and Temple - they also are preparing the nations for Noahide Law -

They have a deal with Trump. He has their support. This dates back to 2016ish.

Yes, Trump still remains in the running for the dubious honor of being the Son of Perdition. (Hope that is not the case.)

Probably a better case might be made for Prince Charles, especially because of the poor health lately of Queen Elizabeth II, now 95. The 1998 book The Antichrist and a Cup of Tea once made a good case for this.

Charles may be a little god form of an ac, but he has not fulfilled prophecy as the one who proclaimed himself anointed. Trump has already fulfilled the plucking of the wings/wounded head as well as proclaiming he is the ‘father of the v. So by his own admission all those dead are his responsibility, as well as consigning all those souls to perdition who raced to embrace science over mankind. That book does not relate to prophecy. This man has tracked every major event over the last 10+ years and has presented a very strong case as to not only the times we are in, but also the events that have fulfilled prophecy. He has set possible dates in the past and they have been within days of the event happening that fulfills prophesy as he said it

I.e. a falling away, a withdrawal, a defection. Not found in the English Versions of the Bible, but used twice in the New Testament, in the Greek original, to express abandonment of the faith. Paul was falsely accused of teaching the Jews apostasy from Moses (Acts 21:21); he predicted the great apostasy from Christianity, foretold by Jesus (Matthew 24:10-12) which would precede "the day of the Lord" (2 Thessalonians 2:2). Prophecy originated as a Divine and imperative protest against this historic tendency to defection from the religion of Yahweh. In classical Greek, apostasy signified revolt from a military commander. In the roman catholic church it denotes abandonment of religious orders; renunciation of ecclesiastical authority; defection from the faith. The persecutions of the early Christian centuries forced many to deny Christian discipleship and to signify their apostasy by offering incense to a heathen deity or blaspheming the name of Christ. The emperor Julian, who probably never vitally embraced the Christian faith, is known in history as "the Apostate," having renounced Christianity for paganism soon after his accession to the throne. An apostate's defection from the faith may be intellectual, as in the case of Ernst Haeckel, who, because of his materialistic philosophy, publicly and formally renounced Christianity and the church; or it may be moral and spiritual, as with Judas, who for filthy lucre's sake basely betrayed his Lord. Christian apostasy has been with us from the beginning of our faith.  I did a little research to see what Christian preachers are currently teaching error.  The list was staggering.  Are our itching ears demanding a new gospel?

I tent to agree with what you had stated and have my doubts and opinions about the Sanhedrin...

For one thing, after the Maccabees regained the Temple, the priests were not Levites as YHWH had deemed. They were positions that were bought and sold.

I don't really think YHWH would have approved. The Levitical rebellion of Korah in Exodus 6:16 showed Elohim was not very pleased with this situation...Therefore, were any of the sacrifices even accepted?

The Ark of the Covenant was no longer present in the Temple, blood was placed onto the floor in the "Holy of Holies"
