Sunday 11-28-21 Kislev 22, 5782 1st. day of the weekly cycle, 68th. Fall Day

Job 5:17-27

17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

27 Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

Job’s story is famous for its treatment of the universal themes of personal suffering, enduring hope, and God’s sovereignty. Job suffered tremendously and endured his trials with patience. However, while he was going through his darkest days, three of his friends arrived to “comfort him” (Job 2:11). They turned out to be “miserable comforters,” in Job’s estimation (Job 16:2).

Job’s would-be comforters offered all sorts of possibilities for why Job was going through such misery, but, adding insult to injury, they focused on the theory that Job must have unconfessed sin in his life and that God was punishing him (Job 11:14–15; 22:4–7). Knowing his conscience was clear, Job grew weary of their accusations and blurted out, “I have heard many things like these; you are miserable comforters, all of you” (Job 16:2).

The words of Job’s three friends highlight the tendency in all of us to rush to conclusions. Their theology reflected serious errors, as they insisted that the only reason Job would experience such catastrophes is if he had done wrong (Job 4:7–8; 22:5). Unfortunately, that same idea has crept into Christianity under the umbrella of the prosperity gospel and the Word of Faith movement. Job’s “miserable comforters” are echoed in the modern teaching that God rewards the righteous if they believe hard enough, but those with weaker faith or secret sin will reap calamities. The conclusion of such thinking is that, if someone suffers a string of disasters, contracts a terminal illness, or has a crippling disease, he or she must not be doing something right.

The Bible does say that we reap what we sow (Galatians 6:8; James 3:18) and that God blesses the righteous (Psalm 5:12; 32:10). But the blessing given to the righteous does not always (or usually) take material form. If it did, we would have no way to explain the anguish and deprivation suffered by the apostles, martyrs, or faithful Christians around the world (Hebrews 11:35–40). God’s blessing on the righteous is often spiritual, as we are seated “in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). By the same token, adversity and calamity in this world are not always a sign of God’s displeasure. To equate disaster with God’s curse is to behave like Job’s “miserable comforters.”

Instead of following the example of Job’s friends, we can truly comfort those who are suffering by assuring them that God knows what they are going through and He cares about them (Psalm 34:18). We can remind them that, as painful as their situation is, God promises to use it for good in their lives if they love Him and trust Him with it (Romans 8:28). Trying to assign blame during a time of loss can turn us into “miserable comforters.” Sometimes the greatest comfort we can give a hurting friend is our quiet presence. Sometimes, as Job’s friends should have learned, the best thing to say is nothing at all.

God is faithful.

I think it's sad that we as Christians in the army of God, see a fellow soldier in the Lord, stumble and fall, wounded, as an opportunity to point the finger at him, judge him, instead of lifting him up and caring for him as he was wounded on the battlefield  against a great evil enemy.

Thank God for his great Mercy, and compassion....

He indeed was with me way before I found him!

I look back at all the times I should have been taken from this earth and I see he protected me

i came inches from a telephone pole drunken driving, Had guns pulled in my face when I was with bikers and in situations I shouldn’t have walked away from

He was always there for me even when I refused to listen, I have reaped some bad I sowed but it goes both ways

you can reap blessings if you sow them and my goal is to sow good because I’m promised to reap what I sow, we can all do that even a small handout to homeless person or helping an elderly neighbor

Bur God is present and watches our Deeds and judges accordingly

When people are grieving deeply no matter what we say it will be wrong because anger is a part of that grief so they lash out.  Often it is the person in pain who falsely accuses, just as Job falsely accused God. It was correct to say that saying nothing can be best.  And when our 3 friends falsely accuse us, don't forget to pray for them with compassion.

Heard a pastor say be careful what you quote from the Bible, it might be a lie

im veering off just for a second

The book of Job shows us that we need to mind what we quote because if you quote from what any of Jobs friends said you might be quoting a lie

JOB 42:7

After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.

The book also reveals how powerless satan is Against God because God sets the terms for the deal..tells Satan what he cannot do

Job1:12

Very well,” said the LORD to Satan. “Everything he has is in your hands, but you must not lay a hand on the man himself.”

Also shows satan is not omnipresent he can only be one place at one time

Job 1:7

7“Where have you come from?” said the LORD to Satan.

“From roaming through the earth,” he replied, “and walking back and forth in it

if satan was omnipresent God wouldn’t ask this

Job did indeed get a good tongue lashing from God after all that talking ( I think he was trying to get Gods attention because he felt cut off from God, the worst feeling for any believer… Well he got the attention ? but regretted it)

We learn how cruel even the closest of people can be…. His own wife told him just curse God and DIE .. that must have hurt a lot more than his friends remarks ?

We learn forgiveness, Job repented and was still forgiven by God

We learn what some might not realize, Job was a priest and once again we are shown that the Law existed before Moses

Job 42:8-9

8So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”

9So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD had told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s request.

How would they know the sacrifice of the Burnt offerings if they didn’t know the Law and only a priest can perform the offering ( Job)

This book is fascinating and revealing isn’t it

sorry I didn’t mean to derail.. I never know where the spirit will lead me I’m just along for the ride ?

But I agree that sometimes just being there without saying a word, just showing that you are with them is stronger than words?

Job is fascinating and later scholarship dates it much later than the wrongly held belief it is far earlier than many other books.

Well said I’m still convinced that is why Abram didn’t take anything from the king of Sodom he knew the wickedness in the kings heart and didn’t want to be subject of the king ever wanted something back in return

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
