If the earth is void of an atmosphere and/or has a different gravity at the time I could see it being possible.

From what I read it seems to me earth will pretty much be decimated at the end with everything being burned up and no water. This seems to indicate no atmosphere or anything to hold moisture. Reminds me of all the other desolate planets in our solar system.

There is also the idea that maybe the New Jerusalem will not physically contact the old earth. It has been speculated that the city is autonomous like a huge satellite.

An interesting thought:

Moral bodies will inhabit the 1000 year millennium. Where will we as true believers who have resurrected glorified bodies stay? Will the New Jersualem hover over the earth and that is where we will call our home? Although we will work with Christ on the earth during the 1000 year millennium.

"Where my heart is!

Where my heart is,

there's my Home,

and my heart it is with You!

I want it to be with You 24/7 -

until I reach Heaven!

In my own strength - this is impossible ; but by the power of Your Holy Spirit,

everything is possible!

So, help me to cling to Your heart

 - each and every day ; as my Home is with You up There, I

wanna be ready to leave from here. "

One of my poems. 😊 Last December, I got a vision (I believe) of Heaven, after I had longed for it a long time. It happened in the middle of an huge hardship, so I was so grateful to Abba Father for giving it to me. I don't feel like sharing it on a "public" forum, though, so I will treasure it in my heart.

But this I can say, you would not miss it for "all the world"! 😊

By the way, I understand the parable of the "precious pearl" better now.....

Heaven is a created place. Many Scriptures teach that Heaven is inhabited. (1 Kings 22:192 Chron. 18:18Matt.18:1022:3024:36Rev. 12:1213:6). Armies and hosts of Heaven are mentioned a number of times as seen in these passages and in Dan. 4:35Luke 2:13Rev. 19:14. These inhabitants are listed in part as common angels, archangels, seraphim, cherubim and other spirit beings. Heavenly bodies are mentioned in 1 Cor. 15:48-49. Rejocing in Heaven is referred to by the inhabitants in Heaven (Ps. 96:11148:14Isa.44:23Rev. 12:12). 8. Paul speaks of "the invisible things" in Heaven as being like the visible things on Earth; that is the things in Heaven are just like the things on Earth. (Rom. 1:20). The word "things" is used in many passages in referring to realities in Heaven. (Phil. 2:10Col 1:16-20Heb. 8:129:23).

We know from Scripture that in Heaven there are Cities (Rev.21), mansions (John 14:1-3), trees, rivers (Rev.22:1-3), fountains of water (Rev. 7:17), food (Ex.16:4Ps.78:25: 105:40; John 6:31-51Luke 22:161830Rev. 2:717: 19:1-10; 22:1-3).

ANIMALS are mentioned as being in Heaven in these following Scriptures; (2 Kings 2:11-126:13-17Zech. 1:8-11: 6:1-8; Rev. 19:11-1421Rom. 1:20).

All these things are mentioned, furniture, tongs (Isa.6:6), fire and coals (Isa. 6:6Rev.8:5) censer and incense (Rev. 8:4-6), smoke (Rev. 8:415:8), musical instruments (Rev. 5:814:1-515:2-4), clothes (Dan. 7:9Rev. 1:136:9-11), stones (Rev. 2:17), books (Rev. 3:55:1-710:1-1120:11-15), Also mentioned in Scripture are, vials or bowls, crowns, thunderings, lightnings, clouds, lamps, a sea of glass, singing, worship, palm trees, temples, silence, so there must also be noise at other times, trumpets, hail, mountains, keys and chains, measuring sticks, olive trees, the ark of the testament, doors, posts, girdles, pearls, diamonds and other precious stones, walls, gates, gold in abundance, streets, fruits, banquets, and many other innumerable things.

If the invisible things in the heavenlies are clearly seen by the things on Earth, as Paul taught in Rom. 1:20, then we have a right to believe that there are in Heaven the same kind of things that we have on Earth. We have no right to make an exception of any good thing that God created and intended for man to have before the fall.

This is a good biblical topic and interesting to talk about.

My biblical thoughts and view are: Heaven is coming to earth after the millennium, where God dwells, Heaven is. Our eternal home is going to be Earth, with the fantastic New Jerusalem as our eternal home.

I picture it in my mind as probably a lot like the Garden of Eden God created for humankind. Not only will we have glorified bodies free from what affects us now, but also a sin-free and perfect environment.

I suspect we will have responsibilities and assignments just like Adam & Eve, we will constantly worship the Lord in appreciation for what He did for us and sing praise songs. I also believe we will have an eternity to enjoy the new Heavens and new Earth He will create.

We will have plenty of time to get to know one another: 1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

We know we will have bodies like Christ, but just some of the details that imply. We were created to have dominion over the earth, we will be given authority to be God’s Imagers once again in His presence.

Because of sin, I wonder if something might have been lost in humanity? Why do some animals have much better eyesight (eagles, owls), hearing (owls, foxes, bears, dogs, etc.), smell (most animals), and endurance, than humans? Was this always the case?

According to science, the light spectrum is almost infinite, we can visually see but a tiny fraction. I’ve heard speculation in our glorified bodies, we may visually see notes coming off musical instruments, see millions more colors, smell colors coming off of flowers, hear plants praise, and sing. Whatever the case may be, we will not be disappointed:

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

At least a few of our members have done extensive study on the New Jerusalem. @Retrobyter being one of them.

I imagined it as a cube, but some think it to be a giant pyramid as @Retrobyters pic indicates.

I'll admit I have a little trouble wrapping my head around God as the light source for the city. Not that I deny it.

I often wonder what it will be like. Will we be allowed to go to other places? What is it like living there? I imagine worship will likely be the biggest thing happening there.

A city of The Lord and a kingdom as well.

There are only two geometric shapes the New Jerusalem can be like you said, a pyramid or cube. A very good case and arguments have been made, that the Great Pyramid of Egypt could be representative of the New Jerusalem. I don't know, but the evidence presented is pretty interesting and compelling.

Consider the size of it 1200 to 1500 miles across and up and down....  something like that is simply not possible under our present physical laws.....   everything will change so I doubt we can even imagine how the light will function

I have wondered about that myself? Will the earth's atmosphere greatly expand, or will there be no need for oxygen to breathe? The Bible does not say if the New Jerusalem sits on the earth, or is in geocentric orbit or what?

The laws of physics did not apply to Jesus in His glorified body on earth. If we have a glorified body like the Lord, I'd say those laws would not pertain to us either. The first creation we are placed in is this three-dimensional creation, with the laws of physics, plus time. In the eternal state, is there time, if so, what is it measured by? With no sun or moon, there is no solar or lunar?

As a side note: Evolutionary and Big Bang science just don't get it. Just as a cardiovascular system cannot evolve and develop over time, it had to be created and operational all at once, for the original pair of humans. Time, space, and matter had to be spoken into existence at the exact same time.

You need space to put something in, something to put into it, and time to do it. Mind-blowing stuff.

The New Jerusalem, which is also called the Tabernacle of God, the Holy City, the City of God, the Celestial City, the City Foursquare, and Heavenly Jerusalem, is literally heaven on earth. It is referred to in the Bible in several places (Galatians 4:26; Hebrews 11:10; 12:22–24; and 13:14), but it is most fully described in Revelation 21.

In Revelation 21, the recorded history of man is at its end. All of the ages have come and gone. Christ has gathered His church in the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:15–17). The Tribulation has passed (Revelation 6—18). The battle of Armageddon has been fought and won by our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:17–21). Satan has been chained for the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth (Revelation 20:1–3). A new, glorious temple has been established in Jerusalem (Ezekiel 40—48). The final rebellion against God has been quashed, and Satan has received his just punishment, an eternity in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7–10.) The Great White Throne Judgment has taken place, and mankind has been judged (Revelation 20:11–15).

In Revelation 21:1 God does a complete make-over of heaven and earth (Isaiah 65:17; 2 Peter 3:12–13). The new heaven and new earth are what some call the “eternal state” and will be “where righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13). After the re-creation, God reveals the New Jerusalem. John sees a glimpse of it in his vision: “The Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband” (Revelation 21:2). This is the city that Abraham looked for in faith (Hebrews 11:10). It is the place where God will dwell with His people forever (Revelation 21:3). Inhabitants of this celestial city will have all tears wiped away (Revelation 21:4).

The New Jerusalem will be fantastically huge. John records that the city is nearly 1,400 miles long, and it is as wide and as high as it is long—a perfect cube (Revelation 21:15–17). The city will also be dazzling in every way. It is lighted by the glory of God (verse 23). Its twelve foundations, bearing the names of the twelve apostles, are “decorated with every kind of precious stone” (verse 19). It has twelve gates, each a single pearl, bearing the names of the twelve tribes of Israel (verses 12 and 21). The street will be made of pure gold (verse 21).

The New Jerusalem will be a place of unimagined blessing. The curse of the old earth will be gone (Revelation 22:3). In the city are the tree of life “for the healing of the nations” and the river of life (verses 1–2). It is the place that Paul spoke of: “In the coming ages [God] might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:7). The New Jerusalem is the ultimate fulfillment of all God’s promises. The New Jerusalem is God’s goodness made fully manifest.

Who are the residents of the New Jerusalem? The Father and the Lamb are there (Revelation 21:22). Angels are at the gates (verse 12). But the city will be filled with God’s redeemed children. The New Jerusalem is the righteous counter to the evil Babylon (Revelation 17), destroyed by God’s judgment (Revelation 18). The wicked had their city, and God has His. To which city do you belong? Babylon the Great or the New Jerusalem? If you believe that Jesus, the Son of God, died and rose again and have asked God to save you by His grace, then you are a citizen of the New Jerusalem. “God raised [you] up with Christ and seated [you] with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). You have “an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade” (1 Peter 1:4).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
