Please help me decide

I know, everyone says "follow your conscience in such matters", but i feel like my Conscience can't speak, that i can't really tell right from wrong by myself, which is why i need someone to tell me what's right, either other believers or my conscience "wakes up" momentarily in moments of extreme burden over the consequences of something wrong i already did.

 

Okay, so the Digital Devil Saga(also called Avatar Tuner) series(there's only 2 games) is one of my favorite video game series. I'm not sure if a Christian should really be playing this though, because it has heavy Hindu/Bhuddist themes, and enemies/bosses include all sorts of mythological creatures and even gods, end game bosses in them being almost exclusively Hindu gods. There's also the Biblical Archangels as bosses in 2. I know with the exception of the Archangels, it's all stuff from other religions and stuff, but there are Bible verses that seem to say, maybe i'm not reading the context right, to stay far away from anything to do with other religions, even if you know its false.

This series caused HUGE backlash from Hindus BTW, not that it's important, just wanted to bring it up.

An idol is anything that dominates your life. The rightness or wrongness of something is irrelevant, because even good things can become idols to us. I suspect that gaming has become an idol for you, because it's starting to cut you off from God. 

The only thing to do with idols is give them up. Totally. It will be hard. But it will clear your mind.

It seems to me you already know the answer, your just looking for someone to talk you out of it. Let me explain.

See...we do have a conscience...and what is it telling you?

Dont get me wrong....im not saying the game itself is good or bad. The real questions are, is it affecting your walk with Christ, and is the holy spirit convicting you of it.

I play some pretty violent video games on occasion. Ive never been convicted of it other then the time spent (i used to play them a LOT) but ive cut back on my time spent on it for that reason. It doesnt affect my prayer and worship or time spent with my family or my attitude. Its more of a detoxer for me. I prefer outdoor activities and shooting but those arnt available to me.

Does this game take away from other things in your life that should take priority, like church or family? Does it negatively impact your attitude? Do people around you complain that you spend to much time on it or your moody after playing it?

If it doesnt negatively impact your life do you feel ok playing it? If the answer is you dont feel convicted to stop and it doesnt negatively impact your life in any way then the game is largely harmless. Maybe not the best use of your time but harmless

But, something tells me thats not the case. Often if we have to wonder if we shouldnt be doing something, then that is the holy spirit convicting us of it for some reason and it time to sit back and listen. This isnt an answer your going to find from strangers on the internet, this is a question your only going to find in prayer and Bible study.

Listen, the Holy Spirit is talking to you.

If you are a Christian you have the Holy Spirit that guides and directs you. You are right you should not buy that unless you do not want to do what glorifies God.

He does always warn us but when we don't listen that sweet holy Spirit stops talking until we repent and get it right. Would you keep talking to just be ignored over and over?

We to tend to look at GAMES as if thats all it is. As if since its not real and made up its ok todo all kind of things that are 100% against the word of God. In all this I make sure I am talking to myself 1st. 

He is talking to you.. and you are listening.. you just can't see it. Bless you. If we ask and listen will give us a peace. Yet for me in cases like this.. I need no peace for I already know the answer as you do.

I am probably too late to effectively comment on a topic older than a day or two, but I will anyway.

IMO any of those intrusive so called 'games' are devised to entice any player away from the straight and narrow of G-d's path. To my way of thinking, continue with those satanic games and then end up in Satan's clutches.
We are given a conscience for the sole reason of differentiating between right and wrong, so as other's have stated, you already know the correct path to follow.

I am not an expert, and I am not criticizing or judgmental, but I have an opinion.

You are conscientiously aware it is not right just by asking the question. There are some activities a person can engage in that can be “portals” for a demonic invitation, influence, or even possession if not a Christian.

We have portals, gates if you will, our eyes, ears, and senses. Once they enter, they are hard to dismiss. Occult music, Ouija boards, entertainment, games, reading magical material, occultic pictures, movies, TV shows, etc., are invitations to the demonic realm.

The things we engage and participate in that are not of God, are from the devil or the world. Both want to distract our attention away from Salvation and become a follower of Jesus, our Lord, and Savior.

There are two paths we can follow in our lives, righteousness, or unrighteousness (right or wrong). We are created with the free will to follow one or the other.

No it isn't easy in this world to be obedient here in this... but Jesus was very clear in how hard it would be

 Not only that Jabre but that little thought prompting you to ask is what is called the conscience, something just doesnt seem right.... Clearly you do know right from wrong. Now I dont put too much stock in anybodys conscience & besides that I dont really believe that little prompting thought is anything other that the Counselor- yes, Holy Spirit- He is here to HELP!

 Im not familiar with the game but it doesnt sound like anything a Christian should be focusing on..... Do they not have any Christian games?Even still, whatever pulls you away from God is not a good thing
