I am sorry to hear you are in the same boat as me! It is REALLY hard trying to find a place, and our "people" in a sense.

"It's hard to be a Christian in modern day Christian society" THIS is a great observation and thank you for saying it, because YES.

I dress modestly but I don't want to dress to the extreme of modesty. I agree, such is life.

I'll pray that you find your spot and thanks again for replying to me!

It is amazing the power that is in God’s Word
John 8:32 (KJV) [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The over all embracing power is whether you choose to empower yourself by stepping out of your flesh and walking in the s/Spirit …(this all on us) but at the end of this time of flesh God will take care of it all -perfectly- you’ll just miss opportunities to let your life say not my comfort Lord but Your glory as I live, breath and exist for your pleasure now and not my own which will be your pleasure in s/Spirit just not always in flesh… God’s Word promises us if we will turn our will to His Will (that which is written down) God will provide whatever necessary to accomplish His will in us… we have but to turn our hearts to the obedience of His Word for the sole purpose of love He has supplied us by His Person the Holy Spirit ( no other purpose will work but love 1Cor 13, Jn 14:21) … So when I say
Philippians 4:13 (KJV) [13] I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
We have God’s perfect love and backing….  You two Sisters of mine can do it!!!

I'm living overseas and pretty much by myself.

I grew up independent Baptist and there are NONE here in Finland.

I've tried some of the English churches and while nice, it's just not the same. I'm still learning Finnish so my options for Finnish services are limited.

I've always enjoyed the online community and felt fellowship on here, etc.

I am just wondering if it's common to feel lonely sometimes...

I'm not interested in movies or music, and seem to more in common with Muslim people here than other Christians.

Just at a loss I suppose...I have been thinking of moving back to USA and getting my CNA training...but I feel God wants me here..

@Kat70s

Having worked in Finland many times here is some advice.

Fins do not like chit chat. They are a very quiet people.

Fins have two sayings "Modesty makes you beautiful" and "Silence is golden, speech is silver". They will never yell or act boisterous about anything because it's ingrained in thier culture to be reserved.

If you're looking for a church where they are waving thier arms in the air and carrying on, boy you chose the wrong country.

LOL! You aren't wrong there about the culture! :D Lots of the charismatic churches get picked on for being so loud and vigorous during service, especially the foreign based churches.

I do appreciate the quiet people, since I am pretty introverted. On the other hand I do miss being able to talk about Christian things, having a Christian friend, etc.  Maybe I just have become incredibly Finnish?

Thanks for the reply!

Blessings Kat

Welcome to Worthy......I will be praying for you to listen(& hear) Gods Still Small Voice on these matters, pray Discernment because I know the enemy would love to keep you where you should not  or need not be......remember to ask for confirmation,by 2 or 3 witnesses & the Word of God!

Kat,you mentioned you are more comfortable with the muslims than with some Christians there,I'm just going to give you a little food for thought & hope you consider my words.....Comfortable with preaching the Gospel to these folks? Comfortable professing Jesus is your Lord ,your Savior & God the SON? Comfortable saying the God of Abraham,Isaac & Jacob is the One True Living God ,allah is a false god? Comfortable saying muhammed ,muhammed, muhammed is not the name above every NAME,Jesus is-he was just a man?

I would never expect you to say most of the things I just said but I think you get the point, you are comfortable carnally because of how they dress, they are reserved but let me assure you, they will not be quiet & polite if you preached Jesus.....you are an infidel to them & should be killed.....dont forget it

Personally,I get the feeling you dont belong there,I will certainly pray about this and for your Direction & Guidance...with all of my heart.......and I pray the spirit of lonliness be bound & cast away in Jesus Name, you are alone in a strange land but alone is different than lonely.....just be patient & trust in the Lord because His Will is not that we should be an island,He Will send who you need, when you need & what you need in His Perfect Time!!!!

                                                                                                          With love-in Christ ,Kwik

Ephesians 3:…19of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, 21to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.…

1 Peter 1:7-9

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Philippians 4:7

Stand Firm in the Lord
6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things.…

When in Rome, do as the Roman's do. When in Finland  try the saunas.

In Scandinavian countries it is usually a taboo to ask about/ discuss religion with people you don't know or know well.

Thank you for your service!

Nursing is an extremely vital calling and profession.

The thing about being Christian means you are never alone. There are times of isolation from human beings, but the Spirit of God lives in you:

1 Corinthians 3:16 (AV)
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

The thing is... we seldom experience the fulfilling indwelling of the Holy Spirit with our other 5 senses.

And emotions tend to cloud our experience and judgment.

Like when we fall ill, we feel like we are never going to get better (even though we do).

One thing I have noticed / experienced over the decades is that Christians (though well meaning) tend to be

hard to be around... at least sometimes.

IMHO, there is a Tower of Babel aspect to being a Christian to prevent us from clotting together rather than

disseminating the Gospel to the lost world in every generation.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
