Why has the Christian today become desensitized? What has the Christian become desensitized to?

Dentists use a numbing agent to desensitize nerves. Satan uses the world to desensitize a Christian of sin and error.

There's truth in this as it pertains to our own conduct and bearing. Our words and deeds either display that religion which is pure in the sight of God the Father, or they testify of a hardened heart defiled with hatred and falsehood.

We have faults, and it pleases the Lord that we do. If we stumble, He steadies us; if we fall, He commands us to rise again. We learn from error and grow by the grace and power of the Spirit of God, who is conforming us to the image of our Lord Jesus Christ from glory to glory.

It doesn't matter how others dress or conduct themselves. All that matters is our faith which God gave to us so whatever we do, regardless of where we happen to be, let us do it unto the Lord. What's rendered by faith is pleasing to God.

No amount of griping, grumbling, or castigation will change a single thing in this world. Wouldn't it be lovely and altogether good if we occupied ourselves with walking in those good works which we were created to do? Yes, we were created for good works in Jesus Christ. That's all we should care about! :)

How strange, the world according to you has not been influenced  or  changed by Christianity.

So Christians in the roman world didn't  stop the practi of exposing unwanted babies, the gladiators games.

That the medieval monasteries  research and preserved education, that the Christian wor.d view influenced science, ( can you explain why maths works, or science works? )

Look at the work of Christians in science, society protecting the poor, fighting slavery, reforming prisons etc etc etc

To say that christianity does not affect those around one, is to say one is not a Christian.

Somewhat, MM. This is how it goes:

We are responsible for our own conduct. We should never forget that Almighty God holds us responsible for every idle word and deed. For us, this determines our reward (or lack thereof) when our Lord Jesus Christ judges our faithfulness according to what He gave us in this world. (Bema seat)

We are responsible toward others, both brethren and the unbeliever alike. How we treat others matters to the Lord who commanded us to love our neighbor as ourselves. To love our enemies and bless them; to bless and not curse. To be thankful in all things and rejoice in the Lord.

Does it matter what the world is doing? No. We know that God is in control and everything proceeds according to His will. Here's a passage from Revelation which expresses the truth we ought to walk in every day:

Let the one who does wrong still do wrong, and the one who is filthy still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous still practice righteousness, and the one who is holy still be holy. (Revelation 22:11 NASB)

So our own conduct and bearing is what matters to us most of all. If we react to what others say and do, then we join ourselves to their words and deeds. If a brother or sister walks in love, and we also have love and seek to lift them up, then we join ourselves with them in Christ. We walk in light as the apostle John wrote.

However, if we endear ourselves to the cares of this world which is in darkness and prove ourselves to be no different than this world, then we have stained ourselves with this world. The apostle James warned us about that.

My neighbor is my business insofar as Christ has commanded me to serve them and look after their needs. I bless them. I don't curse them. :)

I think that people in this world are so much in denial regarding desensitization that it is an incomfortable topic for them to digest. I am not even going to say "Christian" because the word Christian today has lost a lot of its significance. God knows who is His.

The problem with this idea is, where do we draw the line in what Christians are to think is "desensitization".

I think we would all agree that sins are sins and to continue in a sin is rebellion. God will deal with rebellion. To look at a sin and say it's ok is just as bad as committing the sin IMO.

Some believers will say drinking a glass of wine means a believer is desensitized to sin, or believing a different narrative about the end times is a sin and desensitized. Legalism could enter into this thinking and it probably would.

Then you are looking at compromise which can be very dangerous in the Christian world

All human including christians have GALL inside them. Which is Greed Arrogancy Loathe and Lust and its up to us to follow it or to repent and resist it. Nobody is created holy and become holy without repentance.

Hi mm,

We are not to judge the Lord`s work. We are to believe that the Lord is well able to build and mature His called out ones.

`I will build my ekklesia...` (Matt. 16: 18)

`Till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God to a mature man...` (Eph. 4: 13)

Are we able to see into the hearts of the millions upon millions of believers across the world?

Marilyn.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
