Best answer: "The word “us” is spoken by God the Father to the Son and Holy Ghost, who were each of Them concerned in the creation of all things, and particularly of man. –John Gill

Hi, and thanks for your reply! Though I understand why you say what you're saying, I do have to disagree with you on these statements. It's my understanding that God is the Father and God of the Lord Jesus (Jhn 20:17). The Father is the only God there is, and the Son and Spirit are occasionally called God for the purpose of representing God as if it were Himself.

Quote

Phil 2:5-9
 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,  6  who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9
ESV

Quote

John 1:1-4
  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3  All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
ESV

The first is somewhat explaining what was meant in John 1:1-3

Our God is three separate beings that work together as one.    None are created and were here eternally past.   Jesus just lowered himself to take on our sin.  Jesus is the old testament God that Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and David all knew and dealt with.

The way you express things removes the deity from Jesus.  Not many people I know would agree with that.   I might agree with one point.   Now Jesus and the Father are on equal existences, however it is said that when all thier enemies are made their footstools that Jesus will submit himself to the Father.

Maybe we should discuss what the people at the time the penning of the Bible considered what the word translated God meant.   I don't think it is the same as most people today.   I truly think that is the problem with most people's problem with the trinity.

There is only one God, the Son and Spirit are of God , but they are not God. The Father is the only God. Christ said that the Father is His Father and that God is His God (Jhn 20:17), hence that Jesus is the Son of  Father or of God; and the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of the Father (Mat 10:20) or of God. This answers to why we never see Scripture say Jesus is "God and Father" (2Co 11:31Eph 1:3Eph 4:61Pe 1:3).

All references to the Lord Jesus being God or the Father is only in the sense of representation of the Father or God (Col 2:9).

Some cults believe the above, but it isn't Scriptural.

Joh 8:58  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Not sure what you mean Jesus is not of God. If you mean He's not from God we could discuss it. God bless!

Jesus is equal, in unity and of the same mind as the Father & Holy Spirit. However, in function there is an order -

Divine  Procession.

Godhead  - At the source there is the provision by the whole Godhead,

Father - with the initial movement of the Father;

Son - the administration of the Son;

Holy Spirit - and the direct agency of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit proceeds

* from the Father and

* from the Son and

* so through the Body of Christ and it members.

The word `Son` in relation to the Godhead is not of procreation but means the express image of.

`God ....has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power...` (Heb. 1: 1 - 3)

Just to show what you just pointed out using scripture

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down FROM THE FATHER of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Jesus had to receive that gift from the Father in order to give the same to men

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you FROM THE FATHER even the Spirit of truth, which PROCEEDETH  FROM THE FATHER, he shall testify of me:

Jesus receives the promise Spirit of the Father in order to give the same to men

Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, AND HAVING RECEIVED OF the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost
he hath SHED FORTH this, which ye now see and hear.

Psalm 68:18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: THOU hast RECEIVED GIFTS FOR men;  yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

Ephesian 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, AND GAVE GIFTS unto men.

Perfect addition Marilyn C showing that through the body come the same by the laying on of hands,

Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Every good and perfect gift is given us of the Father, even Jesus Christ

John 10:29 MY FATHER, which GAVE THEM "ME", is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

God bless you Sis

Here's a few verses showing "Of God" in the Son "OF God", or the Lamb "OF God", or the Christ "OF God", or the Holy one "OF God"

A couple of examples,

Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

John 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Luke 9:20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

Luke 4:34   I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
