That is what the two of them that lived with me from 1974 to 1979 told me, more than once.

I view these things in the following manner.

The sons of God (angels) who left their first estate --- the fathers of the giants of old --- are imprisoned in darkness, awaiting their judgment. 

Spiritual powers of darkness (Ephesians 6), who themselves might be reckoned as mighty angels, are of the kind who delayed the angel sent to Daniel (Daniel 10). That power of darkness was called the Prince of Persia, who was overcome when the Prince of Israel, Michael, intervened. These dark princes rule over principalities of wickedness which, I believe, correspond to the civilizations and nations of man. 

Unclean spirits, also known as demons, the spirits of slain giants who roam the "dry places" of the earth.

I believe it's a strongly Jewish historical view. He can correct me if I'm wrong.

I see no support for it as in otgher texts  it says there were giants. Plus, how do we explain the large sleletons and structures. Also was Goliath a wood cutter? I seriously doubt it.

Can these examples be used to make the point in any way?

Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Because the LORD just shows Satan goes to and fro in the earth itself there

Then here with the man with many unclean spirits or devils he asks

Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name?

And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

Those devils or unclean spirits besought Jesus that he would allow them to enter into the swine if they were to be cast out, so in a sense one could say they roam from house (person) to house (person or pig for that matter) because it says here

Luke 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, 
I will return unto my house whence I came out.

This one shows an example of that same spirit (that abode as one in "that" man) and after he has gone out of that man, can take to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself and enter back into a human house/body, and be a resident there.

If anything, it looks like people can be occupied haunted houses
