The technical term for this is Modalistic Monarchianism, a.k.a. Oneness. To be precise, Oneness teaches that God manifests in three different "modes" which are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The discussion goes on & on & on - finite beings trying to describe the infinite One who created us.  So is it 3 in 1 - or 1 in 3?  I suspect the correct answer is yes.

I hear you brother. Some, perhaps, think they do…but I think it’s impossible to fully understand the Godhead.

For myself, I tend to avoid attempting to. When I have gone there, my sense is like waking up at night in the dark and unable to see where I am going.

Indeed!  One can find scriptural basis for going in various directions and it's akin to "endless genealogies."  I suspect it's beyond an ant trying to comprehend a human.

I finally decided to read this thread to see what's been posted.  I once planned to make a list of every verse that clearly indicates the impossibility of Jesus being the "only God".  But there are just too many verses.

Finally, the whole issue of who "God" is can be easily understood from the first chapter and verse of the Bible.

Gen 1:1 - In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heavens and the earth.

elohim: God, gods, divine beings, judges

Original Word: אֱלהִים
Part of Speech: Noun Masculine
Transliteration: elohiym
Pronunciation: eh-lo-HEEM
Phonetic Spelling: (el-o-heem')
Definition: God, gods, divine beings, judges
Meaning: gods, the supreme God, magistrates, a superlative

Word Origin: Derived from the root אֵל (El), meaning "god" or "power."

So, the very first refence to God is in the plural form.

Then, to solidify that fact, we have a discussion:

Gen 1:26 - Then God (Elohim) said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Gen 1:27 - So God (Elohim) created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

So, v.26 is obviously a discussion BETWEEN Persons.

In v.27, the singular pronoun "him" (singular) emphasizes the fact that "God" is One in unity and character.

I don't know how the "oneness" ilk explain Gen 1, and I don't care.  The obvious is glaringly obvious.  In the NT, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all said to be God.

So Gen 1:26,27 easily refers to the fact that God made man with 3 parts:  body, soul and spirit, which is plainly stated in 1 Thess 5:23.

So, the "oneness" people do not believer or understand the Bible.

That's not UPCI "Oneness Pentecostalism"...however...UPCI "Oneness Pentecostalism" teaches that Yahshua "Jesus" is God. They get it from Isaiah 9:6 NKJV  "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Tatwo...:)

Do people ever think (ask God for His Wisdom) about a verse prior to using it as alleged proof for some nonsensical doctrine?

Isaiah was a PROPHET of God.

God's Prophets PROPHESY things that come true, sometimes hundreds or even thousands of years in advance.

This particular PROPHECY states the following:

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Please note well it does NOT say that the Child will be those things, or even that any of these titles will be his name, or that all of these titles are necessarily true/representative of him. It only says that people will call him these things, which they have done, in spades (and often in error).

Greetings @A Freeman...

Well friend I have never heard anyone explain it like you do before. I am not a member of the UPCI or any denomination. This is a primary scriptural Truth A Freeman…most do not understand the mystery of the Truth about the Godhead…which is why some believe in something called the “trinity” while others believe in something called “oneness.”

To go along with that…they perpetually argue about it because the mystery has not been revealed to them. Who God the Father is…who The Lord Yahshua Christ is…and who the Holy Spirit is…has been made plain in scripture…for those who cannot see that…are blind to this Truth and typically cannot and do not want to be shown it.

Let’s have a look…Israel’s prophet Isaiah wrote…emphasis mine…here’s how I read it.

For unto us a child is born, [the virgin birth of Yahshua] unto us a son is given: [Sacrificial Lamb of God…Yahshua] and the government shall be upon his shoulder [Yahshua]: and his name [Yahshua] shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  (7)  Of the increase of his government [Yahshua's] and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, [prophetic reference to Yahshua] and upon his kingdom [Yahshua Christ] to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

You can have your translation of the passage…and you are right…it does not say He “will be” those things…it says He “is” those things. This actually goes very nicely with what Paul once wrote…for example consider Colossians 1:15-20

“He [Yahshua] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  (16)  For by Him [Yahshua] all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him [Yahshua] and for Him. [Yahshua]  (17)  He [Yahshua] is before all things, and in Him [Yahshua] all things hold together.  (18)  He [Yahshua] is also head of the body, the church; and He [Yahshua] is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself [Yahshua] will come to have first place in everything.  (19)  For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, [Yahshua]  (20)  and through Him [Yahshua] to reconcile all things to Himself, [Yahshua] having made peace through the blood of His cross; [Yahshua] through Him, [Yahshua] I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.”

The reason so many stumble here...is that they do not grasp the concept of “Spirit” and that being only “one Spirit.”

for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.” Ephesians 2:18 NASB

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling” Ephesians 4:4 NASB

“Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;” Philippians 1:27 NASB

Grasp the "Spirit" grasp the the truth about the godhead.

Greetings @D. Adrien...

Well...dare I say that it was not flesh and blood that revealed that you you brother D. Adrian?

He is known as Father...and to be a Father you need a family. The eternal God is revealed in a spiritual man known as Christ...He is here...and He will be here to at least do His part in the cleanup and judgment of the dragon, the beast, the harlot, the lawless one so we need to grow up into the full measure of Christ...which the grace of God is more that sufficient to accomplish.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
