He atoned in the only manner possible for the sin of man against God. He satisfied His Father's wrath by becoming the substitutionary passover lamb. God became man to be the sacrifice that paid the full measure the penalty of sin against God which is death.

The reason is unknown, except for reasoned speculations; including speculation that man is a lesson to the angels that God is indeed sovereign over all things including His own wrath.

Yes. That was he purpose of the cross on one side - what is the purpose going through it to the other side?

Family to Fellowship with.

Gal 4:1-7  But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all;  (2)  but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.  (3)  So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.  (4)  But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,  (5)  that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children.  (6)  And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father!”  (7)  So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Heb 5:7-10  He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,  (8)  though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.  (9)  Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,  (10)  named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

Heb 12:1-2  Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,  (2)  looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Rev 5:5-10  One of the elders said to me, “Don’t weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome; he who opens the book and its seven seals.”  (6)  I saw in the middle of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.  (7)  Then he came, and he took it out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne.  (8)  Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.  (9)  They sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood, out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,  (10)  and made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth.

Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission (atonement/covering) of sin. (Leviticus 17:11; Hebrews 9:22).

The blood sacrifices under the law of Levitical priesthood atoned for sins for a period, a year at most.  But the law never justified  anyone in God's eyes (Romans 3:20).  Jesus came to perfectly fulfill the law and the prophets (Matthew 5:17), to put an end to the sacrificial system, not merely to cover sins for a year, but, as the perfectly unblemished lamb of God, to permanently take away our sins and the sins of the world. (John 1:29).

Jesus came as the promised seed of the woman to crush the head of the devil (Genesis 3:15), to destroy sin and death, the works of the devil (1 John 3:8), to fulfill the law and the prophets (Deuteronomy 18:15; Isaiah 53:3, 10), to do the will of God (Isaiah 53:10), to be a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)

Jesus prophesied His death throughout scripture: Matthew 9:15, 12:39-40, 16:21-28, 17:9, 22-23, 20:17-19, 28, 26:1-2; Mark 2:20, 8:31-33, 9:9,12, 30-32, 10:32-34, 12:1-10, 13:8; Luke 9:21-22, 43-45, 18:31-34; John 3:14, 16, 12:23-24.

Among other reasons, Jesus came to die:

To redeem all who believe. (Galatians 3:13).

To taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:9).

To bring many sons to glory.  (Hebrews 2:10).

To destroy the devil. (Hebrews 2:14).

To take upon Himself the wrath of God we deserve for our sins. (Romans 3:25; Galatians 3:13; 1 John 4:10).

To show us the steadfast love God has for His image bearers, though all of us be sinful, and forgive us our sins.  (Matthew 26:28; John 3:16; Romans 5:7-8; Ephesians 1:7; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 5:2, 25).

To perfect us and sanctify us, (Hebrews 10:14), to reconcile us in Him, (Colossians 1:22), to cleanse us of our sins and deliver us from this present evil age (1 Corinthians 5:7; Galatians 1:4), to free us in Christ so we may live not as we please, but to live as we ought for Him who died for us and was resurrected for us (2 Corinthians 5:15; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 12:3-4; 1 Peter 2:19-21), to rescue us from the wrath of God that is to come (Hebrews 9:28), and to grant unto us eternal life in glory with Him (John 3:16).

All blessings, honor glory and power to the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Forever and ever.  Amen. Amen.

Yes, Christ achieved so much by dying on the cross!  However, as many of your references show, that was just the beginning, which the cross facilitated - the end purpose of dying was resurrection life to us.  Ultimately the One Grain died to produce the many grains!

Great question there VA, as it points to God`s purpose.

God the Father `having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both of which are in heaven and which are on earth - in Christ...` (Eph. 1: 9 & 10)

So, all things will be in harmony and under Christ`s rulership - in heaven and on earth. Thus, Christ came to gain the victory over Satan and take His rightful place as sovereign ruler over all God`s great kingdom. This involves `putting down all rule and authority and power.` (1 Cor. 15: 24 & 25)

Righteous rulership will be in every realm of God`s great kingdom - in heaven and on earth. And all under Christ.

Righteous rulership will be in every realm of God`s great kingdom - in heaven and on earth. And all under Christ.

And verse 14 in Ephesians one tells us, "you also were included in Christ." And then verse 18 says, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people." Then verse 22-23, "And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way."

And, of course, the next chapter tells us we are becoming a "dwelling place for God."  And following that, that His wisdom will be made known through the church.  All this was produced by the One Grain falling into the ground to die; therefore the cross was not Christ's ultimate goal, but was needed to facilitate a much grander result.

And if Satan had known God`s great plan he would not have crucified Jesus.

`But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.` (1 Cor. 2: 7 & 8)

Interesting that God planned all this before the ages. It was not an afterthought.

If he had known God's plans, he wouldn't have let Eve take a bite of the fruit.    God's been three moves ahead of Satan from the very beginning.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
