I am fully convinced to the depths of my soul, with my heart and with all my mind, that the Lord Jesus Christ is the true God. He was that as the Word of God even before His birth, after His birth as Man in the flesh, and even now in 2025 Jesus Christ is God.
That He is called 'the Son of God' makes no difference at all, because for the Jews 'Son of God' is completely equal to God Himself.
Making themselves 'the Son of God' was and is for the Jews just as bad as Jesus Christ 'making Himself God', there is no difference! Note how the Jews react in both cases:

John 19:7 KJV 
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

But why am I completely certain that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, besides the above Scriptures? Simple, because that is literally what it says in your Bible.

Joh 1:18 KJV

The “only begotten God” is found in the oldest manuscripts we have of John: Papyrus 66 (c. 225), Papyrus 75 (c. 225), codex Sinaiticus and codex Vaticanus (both c. 325).

Jesus and John the Baptist stood in the Jordan River beside one another and John the Baptist said that the HEAVEN OPENED and the distinction was made between him and Jesus by the Heavenly Father. 

Just before the Baptist John said to Jesus that I want what you have, prophetically of course, and that it was not about the Holy Spirit which will come to Jesus when the Heaven will open as it was that Jesus had the Life of God and it was between him and John the Baptist who had the Life of the High Priest in him.

A witness that Jesus came from above from the Heavenly Father and at that time the Heavenly Father gave his Testimony that he has only one Son and soon in Jesus Christ will have more children but John the Baptist at that time was not one of them. John testified that he needed to have what Jesus had the Life of the Heavenly Father. 

At that time John was not in the Heavenly Father because anyone in the Heavenly Father is in his Heavenly Father’s Heavenly Inheritance through his Son Jesus Christ. 

John was in the inheritance of Abraham.

Adam had a glory when he was created the same as Eve who got the same glory from Adam and Adam got it from his  creator who gave him life. 

At that time as Adam was he was the Son of God because he had God's life in him. He had the Glory he had at that time as he was. He could be in the presence of God when God came to see him.

But he couldn't go to where God was in the Heavenly and the Heavenly host. He was confined in the Garden. Till the time everything changed and God lost him. At that time he descend and all the people after him till the time Jesus Christ inherited the Heavenly Inheritance and not only for himself but for everyone IN HIM who is also in HIS Righteousness and in His Life and IN HIS INHERITANCE. 

This is why those who are IN HIM are ASCENDED like He ascended after his death on the Cross and so we will be ascended after our death to be with Jesus Christ who gave his life on the Cross for us and we can be his children and the children of the Heavenly Father Sanctified and Justified by his blood and to joint him in Heaven after our death. AMEN

I challenge that "Angels are referred to as sons of God." I believe that it can be shown that everywhere "sons of God" are seen in Scripture, they refer to human beings, not angels.

I will have to beg to differ as we see Heavenly Entities or beings or angels referenced to in the Book of Job as " the sons of God,along side satan---- could not be humans ( Job 1:6 ,2:1 ) and then again in 38:7 " all the sons of God shouting for Joy" The verse describes the morning stars singing--- must be angels,right?

From God’s perspective all of His created beings may be viewed as children…we do not know. What we do know is His Desire of a family after ‘Kind’ and this is who we are as sons sharing His very Nature in Christ.

This is briefly covered in “Salvation is Relocation”.

Get that stuff right and all falls into place.
