Just last Sunday I was chewing gum and singing and my gum flew out of my mouth and onto the Bible of a young man in front of me.

My little brother farted once during a church dinner. I couldn't stop laughing.

On a serious note. I often feel stupid when I come home from church. I just feel like I am an embarrassment. Maybe it is Satan trying to make me quit going to church again. So far I am straining with all my might to move forward in my relationship with God. I hope that I don't fall away from God again and live the way I have been living. Life apart from God is not worth it. I want Psalm 128 to come true in my life. I believe that God promised it to me if I am obedient to the Holy Spirit.

That probably gave God a chuckle. He has a great sense of humor!

I received a guitar for Christmas. A neighbor taught me to play single notes. I could not get the chords. At the same time I was writing songs. I wrote the lyrics and could pick out single notes that the Holy Spirit put in my mind.

I was a wanna be muscian and singer. No one ever told me I could sing. I practiced and practised almost day and night. My teacher thought I should give it a try in Church.

Not far into the song, I fell flat on my face (not literally) I was so embarrassed. I felt sure the congregation wanted to laugh at me.

A glutton for punishment, I tried it again at another church. I got through with another song I wrote with many starts and stops and off key singing. The playing and singing was terrible but the song itself was good. It has been played and sung different places by a couple in their music ministry.

I realized the 26 songs I wrote weren't for me to perform but to help me in my walk with Jesus. They were a few of my trestimonies set to music. One thing I learned is that God doesn't laugh at our weak attempts to glorify him. He is pleased that we were bold enough to try.

I was asked one night to speak at a church across town as the keynote speaker. The older man that was to introduce me to the audience had met me one night 20 years earlier. He had come to my aid in the middle of the night because my car was stuck in the woods I was up to no good. What was he going to say? I knew I was forgiven, but at that moment I lived that night all over again.

I am not sure I can follow up the chewing gum story with one as funny, but here is mine. I was singing with a friend of mine in church. We were in the middle of the song, in front of the congregation mind you, when a fly landed on my friends nose. She was trying to shoo it away gently so that nobody would notice. She got it to leave her nose and would'nt you know, it went and landed on mine. I also gently tried to shoo it away without it being noticeable. About this time me and my friend were both close to laughing, but we hung in there a bit longer. That is until the fly landed back on her nose again and we both burst out laughing. I am not so sure the congregation got much out of that song that day.

It is my church custom to invite the whole church to stand and invite special visitors.They decided to change it one time.The pastor said let the Isreal Delegates stand up and lets welcome them.Which was the other way round.I stood up and started clapping.My Church buddies started staring at me.LOL

My last name is spelled Enniss. It is pronounced just as any English speaker would think; short vowels before double consonants; so it's just like 'tennis' without the 't'.

Still, it throws people. I am accustomed to being called 'Eeeeeenis.' After signing my name, with the middle initial 'F' in a business license application in Phoenix, I even got a business license from that esteemed city made out to "Leonard Penis."

But at church--at least in Pentecostal circles--one runs into lots of Oklahomans. As key-note speaker one night to a large group of Ministers and their wives, the Oklahoman who chaired the convention introduced me as "Brother Anus....." Friends who knew me chuckled, I just started my message sans comment on pronunciation.

back when there were no such thing as cushions on the pews... we were a large family, an it seemed that no matter what time we got up on Sunday morning, that we were always running late ( 6 kids and all to get ready, the youngest an infant ) so we always got one of the front pews...... and the ushers would always escort us up the aisle..... a small parade t osay the least.... then we had a certain order in which we were to sit.... my older step brother and me did not sit together, and my two younger brothers ( Kevin and Johnny ) couldn't sit together.... and then there was Diane, Bill was the infant, so no proble m there....

one day, as the congregation got real quiet, just as the pastor was getting ready to speak, Johnny let one fly, and that wooden pew, just resinated the sound so wonderfully, that the pastor stopped with a look of bewilderment and surprise.... Jerry was sitting next to Johnny and just froze.... we heard giggles all the way from the back of the sanctuary ( would hold close to 1000 people )

i always wondered if the microphone picked up the sound, of if it was just loud enough for everyone to hear on its own merit.......

what use to be imbarassing for me was for some one to call upon me to speak, ( to lead prayer, or anything like that...... ) one on one, i could, but not with more then two...... always feared messin up....

now days, forget it.... it dont matter if I mess up, cause i know i will..... but with the Lord, i do not have to worry..... He will take care of it.....
