Hey Kevin, just wanted to clarify something here.

There are 2 seperate Bible translations that Journey talked about.

The Living Bible

and

The New Living Translation

LB is older and NLT is sort of recent.

PS If you like the Living Bible then check out the New Living Translation. It is awesome and nothing like the Living Bible.

Your are right Steve :t2:

most people keep their doubts

to themselves about bible stuff,

a good watchman for the Lord will

point them out!

Always get God's final meaning of His word

by asking Him for it! amen

man (the devil) has been editing for quite a while

just finishing up reading Foxe's book of Maryters(sp)

how the bible got thru the 200's and 300's

is a miracle indeed, amen.

I have a reprint of Tyndale's 1534 New Testament Bible with notes from his 1525 Bible. I do believe he tried as hard as he could to translate this Bible in very difficult times. Men had already burned many of his books and were seeking to burn Tyndale. This is a reprint of the revised New Testament of 1534 and his 1525 first New Testament written in English.

In Tyndale's 1525 Bible he wrote a transcript to the reader as follows:

"Them that are learned christianly, I beseech, forasmuch as I am sure, and my conscience beareth me record, that of a pure intent, singly and faithfully, I have interpreted it, as far forth as God gave me the gift of knowledge and understanding, that the rudeness of the work now a the first time offend them not; but that they consider how that I had no man to counterfeit, neither was helped with English of any that had interpreted the same or such like thing in the scripture beforetime. Moreover, even very necessity, and cumbrance (God is record) above strength, which I will not rehearse, lest we boast ourselves, caused that many things are lacking which necessarily are required. Count it as a thing not having his full shape, and put out, if ought be added superfluously, and add to, if ought be overseen through negligence; and will enforce to bring to compendiousness that which is now translated at the length, and to give light where it is required, and to seek in certain places more proper Engish, and with a table to expound the words which are not commonly used, and will endeavor ourselves, as it were, to seethe it better, and to make it more apt for the weak stomachs; desiring them that are learned, and able, to remember their duty, and to help them thereunto, and to bestow unto the edifying of Christ's body, which is the congregation of them that believe, those gifts which they have received of God for the same purpose."

Tyndale was never happy with his translations and after the 1534 edition he wrote and published another edition in 1536. This was the first man to translate the Bible into English. How long would we have waited for it had it not been for this man? Many words were changed in his later edition because he felt they better suited our English translation. For the most part, I beleive we have the true word of God. God is not going to let His true word become corrupt.

Tyndales word "superfluity" was changed to "abundance" by the Committee of 1611. Tyndale's words are probably closer to the original meaning than the revisers of 1611 or 1881. I add this just to show that it is true that none of our Bibles are exactly correct. The Hebrew and Greek have words in their language that does not translate exactly correct into our language. However, God in his mercy has allowed us to have His word as close as possible translated from the original language.

I thought it might be interesting to quote a passage from Tyndale's Translation.

Mark chapter 10: These scriptures have not been put into verses and numbered as have our newer Bibles. I am spelling this exactly as Tyndale did.

"And ther came one of the Scribes that had hearde them disputynge to gedder, and perceaved that he had answered them well, and axed him: 'Which is the fyrste of all the commaundementes? Jesus answered him: the fyrste of all the commaundementes is. Heare Israel: The Lorde God, is one Lordel And thou shalt love the Lorde they God with all they hert, and with all they soule, and with all they mynde, and with all thy strength. This is the fyrst commandmaundement. And the second is lyke vnto this: Thou shalt love thy neghbour as thy silfe. Ther is none other commaundement greate than these."

That may be worse then/than (I be a high skul dropout and don't no gud gramaer) the original KJV. Has anybody here read any of that?

It is extremely hard to read. They did a good job of revising it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
