2corinthians 4:6

For God is he who said: "let the light shine out of the darkness," and he has shone on our hearts to illuminate (them) with the glorious knowledge of God by the face of Jesus Christ.

Since reading recently the thread by Tah, about recipes, I have been living solely on a diet of green tomatoes on toast.

I heartily recommend it, as it is cheap and easy.

Never felt better in my life!.......Why, just the other day, I took first place in the Mr Punyverse contest!

We do quite a lot of walking so I try to remember to always bring a waterbottle so we don't need to buy drinks.

I have always been accustomed to living simply. I do think that people can save a lot of money if they are willing to entertain at home rather than "going out" all the time. Accepting a simple lifestyle is always a better choice for your nerves as well if you have indeed learned contentment.

My one indulgence is yarn but it is not expensive yarn and it is used to create items for our local pregnancy support centre and other missions around here.

Mentioning shampoo...has anyone else realized what the shampoo company (I swear there is only one out there now) has done to shampoo. When I was a kid, Saturday night really was bath night and you washed your hair. I do admit that by Friday night your hair needed to be washed again but it was Friday and not Sunday night. "I have to wash my hair!" was a valid excuse for not dating a guy

I will look forward to more of this thread. Always looking for a good idea or two.

Every peice of clothing I own except of course th socks and under thingys are bought by my wife at yard sales, goodwills and other discount or used product places. I have designer stuff including suits most of which had never been worn and I cannot begin to tell you how much money she saves us. You just have to be picky at those places and look hard for the defects. God Bless

*laugh* I wish I'd been able to tell guys in highschool "I have to wash my hair" as an excuse to not go out with them! Instead I had to come up with other ways to let them down easy :emot-pray:

I don't think it's just the shampoo companies now...I think a lot of it also has to do with the trends. For a long time, most women wore their hair up during the day. Now, the style is mostly to leave it loose or loosely styled, which means (especially for light-and-fine-haired girls like me) that any oil shows like crazy! Even though I still shower every day, I try to wash my hair as infrequently as possible (I can go as long as three days, if I wear it up the last day), so I shower with my hair up a lot of the time, because I totally agree that too much shampooing is not good for the scalp...but as I said, I've been cursed or blessed with this light colored hair that shows EVERYTHING. *sigh*

Saving money is un American. Spend Spend Spend has always been my philosphy but now that I find myself in debt I'm working on a better cash flow plan through a course taking called Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey.

http://www.daveramsey.com/

I broke my car lease and paid a hefty penalty but my parents helped me out and now my car payments have been cut in half. Also, I learned that if I take public transpiortation to work I will save $140 a month. Now I'm looking at either lowering my phone bill or getting a cheapier phone service.

I'm still working on my cash flow plan/ budget, but it is getting better.

I like Daves enevolpe system and so far all of everthing he says

ted, you not wanting to share your cereal???

and he who is married with children should be careful as dw just might be looking over your shoulder.. :24:

and about the shampoo..as with everything about this it is totally personalized..

I have short hair and cannot use conditioners on my hair as it makes it yucky for some reason..

lucky me I don't have to buy it..

I also wash my hair every 3 days too..

I don't know about the once a week bath..unless you are European and used to that idea..

That sure would save on the towels for sure..

You could go 7 weeks without washing them... :noidea:

I woke up this morning thinking about families with children who need food and shelter help..

I hope something in these posts will help you to use what you have to the fullest of its use.. :noidea:

When you feed your kids juice half it with water..

My son does this and it saves a lot on their juice bill..

Kiara does not tolerate milk products so she drinks juice..

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
