If it makes you feel better I was a real man to the best of my knowledge. So the do exist, and you're not foolish for wanting one. I'd like to think that I still am.

Please don't try to start a family though.

Why is it not a good idea to start a family for her?

Ask and ye shall receive! :blink::24:

*guys my age are already divorced with children and lots of baggage;

Okay, I come close to fitting into the 1st category of divorced w/ children. I don't believe I have no baggage, lol! My soon to be ex-wife walked out Christmas and after years of putting up with lying, stealing, and cheating I'm not taking her back!

*guys my age who are single are likely gay or still living at home in their parents basement;

*too many guys my age are still tied to their mother's apron strings;

Oh yes, I am living at home again, but only because I couldn't get her to keep a job and it was the only viable option! I do plan on staying a bit as Mom is helping me with the kids, but I'm not attached to her apron strings, lol!

*guys my age are more interested in X Boxes than in cultivating a relationship;

X-boxes? Nah, not me! I still own an Atari 2600 and a NES Nintendo! :)

*guys my age want the sex but don't want the exertion of building a life together;

Okay, I don't want to be nasty here, but sex IS NOT all their is to a relationship and SHOULD NOT even be a part of it until the wedding night. The newness even wears off of that after a while, especially after you've worked 8 hour days and dealt with your kids, lol!!!!

Okay, I don't mean to come off that I'm advertising myself, lol! I do intend to date again, but it will be a while as there's nothing even final on my marriage yet. Even after there is, I know it's not wise to date for some time afterwards.

Marnie, can I offer a bit of advice? I've seen your profile picture-you're a very, very cute, and I might say, gorgeous woman! Don't slap me! Any guy who isn't interested in you, well that's his loss! I know it's hard sometimes, but if you don't wait on God's perfect timing, you wind up in the mess that I'm in! :24:

Why is it not a good idea to start a family for her?

Suppose everything goes wrong after she has any? Suppose they're born with birth defects or someone abuses them and she doesn't know? What if she marries someone who turns into a monster and she starts drinking and doesn't realize her kid is neglected?

Its not worth the risk is it? Have some compassion for crying out loud. Would you put children through what you went through when you grew up? I just don't want to have to have a person like her on my conscience. I don't want her to throw her life and/or someone else's away foolishly.

I hope she finds a good husband though. Althoug hpersonally I think she's better off not even thinking about associating with humanity any way. She should set her standards higher and better, like an great christian deserves to. People settle for less when they do this sort of thing anyway. I think all a person need is a relationship with God and thats all that's good for them. It's healthier. Anything else could only ruin one's being or something.

Oh honey...I can tell you've been hurt in the past...but that's no reason to believe that this is what's going to happen if she has a family. There are good men out there who would make real, good fathers (a bad father is no father at all). We need good people in our lives. Shutting oneself off from humanity is as unhealthy as being in the midst of those who hurt us, because that tends to be what we think about when we're alone too much. If you surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you, you have better things to dwell on.

Like I said before, be grateful you didn't get what I got---a man that cheated on me with another man for 14 years of marriage.

That's all I will say on that subject. If you want more info, go to the divorce support thread.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
