why are some so negative hear i came back to the post just to see what others have jotted down and its just amazing to what i am hearing if we are to go back to gods word and only do it from gods word how many can honestly say that young people today would pay attention to them

have any walked the streets in their countrys they live in and see for them selves what some young people get up to have you seen the violenxe have you seen the amount of drinks a young person can take in a night have you seen what young women get up to ?

i walk the streets in the town i live in till 4 am as most of these youth i know will not step foot with in a church some have and most have been let down by so called youth pastors and leaders not being able to meet their needs

and when a question is asked from gods word and the young youth want to have this explained it is not explained to them

just have a walk one night in the towns you live in if any go on out reach go with those people for the night offer some help or your time and you will see what other youth get up to

the kids i know fight among them selves i have seen 5 yr olds 6 yr olds 7 yr olds hanging out with their brothers and sisters when then should be at a youth group or in the safty of their homes i have seen 13 to 16 yr old girls asking older men to buy them alcahol i even know of sevral young ones sleeping around with older men

so if we are to play devils advocate or what ever i cant see what harm games will do if you use this to reach out to a younger generation wear it can draw them in

i know sevral 11 to 15 yr old males that steal sell drugs and no one person in their family is worried because mum and dad do the same

i hope then that leaders will come up with effective ways to attract a generation that does not want to step foot in church if we cant use our head to just try to win some souls into the kingdom

i have say with 12 young people in an open space and this was at 3am talking and then i was able to bring in a short gospel message and alow them to share wear they are at this is what hurts me many will have a lot to say but wil most open up and try at least to make this genration that is on the edge to be welcome and then show them that you mean what you say when you are intrested in them and not just try to add extra numbers to grow that youth group

i have even had two kids from my church with me just to show them what their younger genration gets up to so at least they do not complaine that their parents are being to harsh on them and these kids thanked me as i had the parents permission to do this as they wear safe in my care to wear i would let no harm come to them

ok that is what i will say on this

I don't know why I'm a bit shocked by the comments. What else (other than the Scripture of course) are we going to use to "lure" people into our churches :24:

It's pretty simple, they won't be receptive to the word if you use it alone. they have been bombarded with humanism so long that their not going to set foot in a church as they percieve it as evil now days.

Plus what is wrong with kids having fun at church?? I mean come on, one of the reasons i refused to go to church for so many years is because its boring as heck if you don't have socials. Quite frankly if all you do in life is read the bible and go to church to read the bible, then you don't have a life! God put us on this earth to experience life, not to bore ourselves to death. Why else did he say to go into the world and preach and teach. You can't go into the world without experiencing the wonders it contains!

Kids want to be kids and have fun, so you use what they like and enjoy and incorporate it into teaching Gods word. then you have their undivided attention. If you don't have their attention, you can beat them over the head with a bible and it won't even faze them.

Along with all that, teaching the bible from a practical aspect that relates to their lives and what they have to face is also a requirement, otherwise their going to tell ya "yeah right, like thats going to work in my world"

Interesting that you used this phrase in the same sentence as "reading the bible and going to church" and both in contrast to actually having a life.

I agree that kids should have fun and enjoy going to church. Never mentioned beating them over the head with a Bible though. There is nothing wrong with a pizza party or something at church. I think churches should do more to make people (especially kids) want to come but I don't think Halo 3 is the answer.

Excellent statement, 4given1. There's nothing wrong with video games in general. The problem arises when the game chosen has a 'Mature' rating for Blood & Gore, Mild Language, and Violence. I'm not saying that the games has to be kiddie games like 'Ratatouille: The Video Game' or 'Barbie's Horse Adventure', but let's don't go from one extreme to another.

I believe it is some of both. :)

John 10:10 (NIV)

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10 (KJV)

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The trouble is that parents (and I am one) allow kids to spend hours on end playing video games. Call me old fashion, but what ever happened to rock climbing, hiking, camping, biking, boating, fishing, playing ball and the likes? Getting kids to enjoy something outside of the tube should be a goal, don't you think? Enjoy and experience what God has given us with each other ... only He knows how long we will be here.

Okay, I don't know this video game firsthand, but I know from the "M" rating that it is probably something that's not appropriate in church (my husband has a few of these games and I have to leave the room because they're so disgusting in terms of violence and blood shed).

I know of a lot of churches who have "youth nights" and play games, watch movies, etc. Would you allow your child to go to one of these events if they were playing an R rated movie? I'm guessing that no one would because that would be innapropriate.

So my question is if its innapropriate to watch R rated movies at church, why is it okay to play essentially R rated games at church? Is there no other game that does not contain such violence that could be played instead?

And whatever happened to outings? When I was a teen our church used to put together fishing trips, horseback riding, sports, etc! The beauty of this is that not only were we learning about Christ, but we were also getting some much needed exercise!

I totally agree with you, my kids did all that, they went rafting, rock climbing, they even went to this uhmm event every summer where groups of teens went and helped those less fortunate in cities around the country. uhm can't remember waht it is called.

But theres nothing wrong with playing video games either.

You think jesus didn't have fun?? i'll bet he had plenty of fun. he did growup as a kid you know. As a grown up he attended wedding party, guess what, wedding parties are fun!

No, God put us on this earth to experience Him and only through Him do we have life.

no he put us on this earth to experience life all of it. It is preparation for what is to come. yes we do have a life here on earth! It is supposed to be lived to its fullest!

Interesting that you used this phrase in the same sentence as "reading the bible and going to church" and both in contrast to actually having a life.

Actually most churches are so boring that to ensure there is any life in them at all you have to poke someone. when you have to sit and listen to some boring singsong sermon that puts everyone to sleep, its time to make changes!

I agree that kids should have fun and enjoy going to church. Never mentioned beating them over the head with a Bible though. There is nothing wrong with a pizza party or something at church. I don't see a problem with halo3, or rainbow 6. Again, your kid is going to see more violence on the tube or in school or at their buddies house, or even in the street than their going to get in some fantasy video game.

Besides, what are you going to do when one of your kids joins the military. Their going to be exposed to more violence than you know what to do with. In fact, kids throughout the millenia have been exposed to more violence than any kid today. they used to train for battles, used to wield the sword, wear the armor for battle. theres a story about a young boy that slew a giant with a rock. he wasn't very old when he did that!

We coddle our kids too much these days.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
