For some people, it might become more clear if they did some extrabiblical study on the ancient babylonian mystery religious system in comparison to what many religious systems teach today. There are sooo many religions out there that you will never have enough time to study about them all, but you can study enough about some of them to see this...

That ALL false religious systems are based on the exact same principle. They make up gods and make themselves god, with a small g. They worship the creation rather than the Creator and exchange a lie for the truth. This is the spirit of antichrist, meaning instead of and in the place of the Spirit of Christ.

1Jo 2:18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.

1Jo 2:22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.

1Jo 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

It is absolutely essential to recognize the real Christ to be able to spot fakes, so you must first get to know the real Christ. He has been revealed through the scriptures and will manifest His Spirit to those who...

1Jo 5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.

1Jo 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.

1Jo 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

1Jo 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

1Jo 5:5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1Jo 5:6 This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

1Jo 5:7 For there are three that testify:

1Jo 5:8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

1Jo 5:9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son.

1Jo 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.

1Jo 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1Jo 5:12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

1Jo 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

1Jo 5:14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

1Jo 5:15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

1Jo 5:16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.

1Jo 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

1Jo 5:18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

1Jo 5:19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

1Jo 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

1Jo 5:21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols.

The truth is shiloh357, you continue to deny the truth of scripture and side tract what others write when presented to you. No one here has absolutely said that Jerusalem is the whore; however, there are many scriptural truths presented to point to Jerusalem but because of your personal bias and/or blindness, you cannot see the truth.

No, the truth is you posted and defend a long article that drips with anti-Semitism and Jew hatred that states unequivcally that Jerusalem is the whore of Revelation. The author went to a lot of work if he was not really convinced that what he was saying is the truth.

What truth is it that I am unable to see?

You can continue to argue all you want shiloh357 but I will now leave you to talk and argue with yourself and you can continue to make no sense all you want shiloh357, you can continue to make all the false insinuations and false accusations all you want shiloh357 that Worthy Boards is so accustomed to everytime you involve yourself in a discussion, but you haven't proven anything except that you continue to discredit yourself, talk alot and say nothing.

Only thing is I am not out to "prove" anything. I simply stated that the identity of the whore of Revelation cannot be identified or proven at this time despite what the author of that article claims. If I am making "no sense" as you claim, engaging my the points I raised should not be a problem.

Obviously you cannot engage any of the points I have made in response to the article, so you default to your ususal whiny, blithering nonsense about false insinuations, and false accusations. Whenever you cannot engage in intelligent debate, that is your M.O.

Ah yes, here we go again...

Drunken with blood of saints and martyrs.

Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Rev 18:20Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Matthew 23

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

The problem is that Revelation 17:5 is not talking about the prophets in the Old Testament. It is talking about the saints who were martyred under the rule of the Anti-Christ, those who gave their life for their testimony of Christ. Therefore, Mathhew 23 is does not bear at all on Rev. 17:5. Secondly, there is no corroborating Scripture that would support naming Israel as the "mother of harlots and abominations of the earth.

Finely Clothed

Rev 17:4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

Ezekiel 16

10 I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk.

11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.

12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head.

13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.

14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.

This is just a heremeneutic trainwreck. Ezekiel 16 is a recounting from God about why Israel was in captivity and has nothing to do with any end-time description of Israel.

A Great Whore

Rev 17:2With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Ezekiel 16

15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.

16 And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.

17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,

Once again, you are taking a passage speaking about Israel prior to the captivity in Babylon and comparing it, out of its original context, to Revelation 17 and you have absolutely no hermeneutic/textual justification. The passages you string together are talking about completely different issues and have no corroborative relationship whatsoever.

Anyone can string a few passages or verses together like lights on a Christmas tree and make the Bible say whatever they want it to say, but it takes skill to handle the Bible is a proper hermeneutic fashion. Your method above is unreliable and demonstrates that you didn't really study the passages out before you put them together.

This is what I refer to as "scripture twisting", taking Scripture and twisting it to whatever suits your fancy.

I believe the Roman Catholic Church has something to do with it. I believe they are apart of the political and religious side of it. I believe they have their finger in the pie. Just by what you read in Revelation 18 explains her down to a T. Babylon is where all religions started from. God confused the languages and they took their ownbeliefs with them. So the whore of false religion is the Roman Catholic Church ad she has funded many crusaides to kill God's people throughout history. She has the blood of the saints on her hands and with all that money she can by off any political party.

Why would the nations cry over her because she funded them and made them rich and they felt safe with her. Now she's gone they don't know what to expect, think about all the riches that God destroys with her, they are probably more concerned about the riches than the hore herself.

[The Woman = Jerusalem

OK - so why are the merchants of the earth mourning the destruction of Jerusalem?

vs. 3 - "...and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries."

Since when was this descriptive of Jerusalem?

That is correct. The woman represents something more then just the city of Jerusalem. She is a world wide entity.

Myself, I think that the 'whore of Babylon', although not being exclusively the Catholic church, certainly includes it.

I (in my limited wisdom), would conclude that the whore is the whole of the 'prostitute religious system '......i.e.....NOT the 'Bride of Christ'......and that this would include any and every false religious system or belief which is not specifically in keeping with the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Mat 4:8 Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;

Mat 4:9 and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me."

Mat 4:10 Then Jesus *said to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"

Mat 4:11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Luk 4:5 And he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Luk 4:6 And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.

Luk 4:8 Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"

At the time of Christ's ministry on earth, the nation of Israel was under Roman occupation - a non-believing secular power that did not recognise the sovereignty of God.

What we find today is not much different in what are labelled "democratic" nations - "governments" that do not govern with regard to God and His Word.

What is apparent from Scripture, is that a time is coming where Satan will be vanquished and He will reign over all the earth.

Thankfully the days of occupation by secular "democratic" "governments" are numbered.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
