It is a testimony.

I guess I don't see it as "alive" or or how I draw near to God, as some have posted. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what they are getting at.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick,(alive) and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hello Book wirm,

The Holy Spirit causes the Word of God, the Bible, to become alive to us. When we realize that the Word is instruction to us and begin to take it personally, as a personal revelation from God to us, then we are also available to receive from the Holy Spirit the realization of the Truth of the Word in our own lives and as basic truth. Simply ask God to "reveal" the Word to you. Expect Him to do this revealing because it is his will to do so. And soon little by little as you read reality and truth will reveal itself to your heart.

May you be blessed by the revelation of truth as you read the Bible.

Here's a song that we sing with our young people:

"The Bible is God's breath; the essence of His Person.(2 Tim. 3:16),

God's speaking out through man; borne by the Holy Spirit (2 Pet. 1:21).

The Bible is God's speaking in the prophets and the Son (Heb. 1:1-2);

The Bible is the Holy Spirit's revelation (John 16:13).

"The Bible testifies concerning the Lord Jesus (John 5:39);

The Bible makes man wise, wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15);

The Bible causes man to be regenerated (1 Peter 1:23);

Our spiritual milk (1 Peter 2:2),

our bread of life (Matthew 4:4),

It makes us all complete (2 Timothy 3:17)."

Great song. :whistling::whistling:

In the beginning of the Church, when the followers of Jesus had just witnessed Him ascend into a cloud, Peteraddressed 120 or so believers and did so by first quoting Scripture to establish that Judas who betrayed Jesus would need to be replaced. (Psalm 109:8) Peter, who was yet to be filled with the Holy Spirit, knew that the best authority was God's Word and like Jesus Himself, Peter quoted it establishing the purpose and justification for replacing Judas. Peter, in doing so, established that Scripture was the authority that should ALWAYS be consulted before any action was to be taken. Paul later wrote a letter in which he referred to the Word of God as the sword of the Spirit, the ONLY offensive weapon to be used in the battle against the principalities of darkness...a fight for the one and only TRUTH.

Setting aside the Word of God is like a soldier setting down his weapon in the middle of a battle. Not a very good idea.

Excellent post, Wayne!! :whistling:

Ditto... :thumbsup:

(and Almost all of the above... :emot-hug: )

Anyhow..I noticed that all of the Scripture used to tell us about the Word in ovedya's post were in what we call the New Testament..

What they refer to is the Old Testament as at the time the New did not exist...

I love The Word... all of it...more than mere words can say...

To me, the bible, or rather the substance of the bible is the polestar of truth. It is stands amongst countless other thoughts of light, yet it alone has stayed constant and true.

Also, it is also something which seems to be similar to an object placed in the middle of a large group of onlookers, each seeing a perspective unique to themselves and often beneficial to others when what was witnessed or observed is shared openly. I love hearing what others see because it gives me a greater appreciation for His word and the wisdom with which He shares to me.

Unfortunately, too often we say to others that they are wrong and that is not what I saw.

So far, I think everyone here has been right on!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
