Did God leave this approximate 1 hour time change in effect?

2 Kings 20:11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.

Since I can get no authorities on the Old Testament here to tell me they have actual history back to Moses and just know there was no loss of time since, I'll just have to assume since there was approximately 12 hours added to time, that the Sabbath must have had to be 12 hours earlier than when God instituted it.

Now do I have any comments?

In Jesus' name

Biblically, days are measured from sun down to sun down.

One day being lengthen by the power of God does not change the next day.

How do you know God didn't just leave the days alone and just sped everything up in time? or move things back in time?

Gee, and I thought you knew me by now. Nah, I'm not a legalist and don't get drawn up tight about those things, but I think it's interesting that people in this day believe they know the exact day that the Lord rested other than Him stating it was the seventh day.

Since I was in debate about such things, I went online to ask what day the Sabbath was observed on, and the reply was: "Shabbat is always observed on the seventh day of the week, Saturday, wherever in the world one may be." Does this mean that somewhere in the world there are those observing the Sabbath on my Sunday since time zones vary? Which one is wrong in their observence? And just why didn't the Lord just call it Saturday if that is what it was? It was after six days that He rested and what if it started on our Wednesday instead? Then all those trying to observe something as critical to their doing God's will are wrong. I have one telling me to make a good faith effort is good enough.

Then I read in the Encyclopedia that in measurements of days using the Hebrew Calendar they counted 30 days to their month which I believe was a lunar month, but in real time was only 29 1/2 days approximately. Then I see this backing up of time by the Lord. Are you and I sure the Sabbath is not being observed on fifth day instead?

We can absolutely sure that nothing is amiss. The reason being:

1. The Jewish people have been observing the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath on the same day that they did in Jesus' day. Jesus did not tell them they were doing it on the wrong day.

2. Jesus life fulfilled the Festivals on the day prescribed by God in the Torah. If there was a 12 hour descrepancy, it would have showed up there, but it didn't. Jesus died on Passover between the evenings, was in tomb before Sabbath and rose on the first day of the week.

3. If we cannot know when the Seventh day of the week is, we cannot know when the 1st day of the week is.

4. God showed the Jewish people which day was the Sabbath day and He did so by not sending any manna on the Sabbath. The Jewish people have preserved the knowledge of when the Sabbath is for the last 4,000 years.

Brother Shiloh, that was a good enough answer for me and what I have been looking for as to the day being able to be known and that answer will go into my records. Thank you.

Questions -

1 - After being in Christ, where are any told that they must continue to observe the Sabbath?

2 - If they were to observe it, what parts of it are they allowed to put aside if any?

3 - Were there any penalties or blessings associated with doing it right or wrong since the law is fulfilled in us (not by us) who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit?

4 - Were Gentiles ever to observe the Sabbath?

I think it is an issue of conscience at this point. There is nothing wrong with keeping the Sabbath if one feels led to do so. There is no condemnation for those who don't.

2 - If they were to observe it, what parts of it are they allowed to put aside if any?
No sure what you mean.

3 - Were there any penalties or blessings associated with doing it right or wrong since the law is fulfilled in us (not by us) who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit?
First of all, no one other than Jesus has really ever kept God's law.

God's law, even if observed perfectly to the letter, can never be fully observed by us for one reason: Mere men cannot actually fulfill the righteousness of it. The only person to do that is Jesus. The law is not merely something we observe externally; rather it is something fulfilled within in us by the Lord Himself. Jesus not only kept the law perfectly, he fulfilled the righteousness of the law and He could do that because He did not bear the stain of Adam's sin. He is now fulfilling the rightesousnss of the law within us in the person of the Holy Spirit.

4 - Were Gentiles ever to observe the Sabbath?
I believe they were allowed to, but I don't find a hard and fast commandment to the Gentiles that required it. That is just my opinion, though.

In Acts, there is record of Jewish believers trying to force the requirements of the Law on the Gentile believers.

The Apostles put their heads and prayers together and determined that the Gentiles were not required to be yoked to the Law, but gave a few guidelines for them to follow.

The Sabbath was not one of them.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
