  1. Past hour
  2. @Michael37 You end your post asking "What's your story?" so allow me to share a 4th topic that changed my perspective in all areas of my life: Sense of entitlement. More than a decade ago, a few things were not going well for me and I didn't know why, until I came across one of those silly lists that people share, with a title like "5 things that are preventing you from being happy". I have some prejudices against this kind of stuff, but the last topic was "Sense of entitlement" and my scornful smile was immediately humbled. Most of my issues had roots on that "sense of entitlement". And then I remembered Joseph, Daniel, Jesus(!!), the prophets, the disciples, the persecuted... and thought "Who am i?! who am i to think that i am owed even the air that I breath? Some people are in jail for being Christians, for doing what is right. Who am I, with this plate of cookies in front of me?" We know what sailors say: Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
  3. As for myself I worship what is. I do so individually and also under a corporate privilege of church congregation fellowship. I just do not worry myself about the tapestries hanging on the walls of religion. Long as they do not form a barrier wall between what I worship and myself I am good with it all. The Holy Spirit sweeps on in when corporate worship is in play . The Holy Spirit is always there for me individually too, especially to take over for me when I cannot form words to describe my prayers.
  4. The common denominator among the atheists, skeptics, agnostics and so on is the varying range of omitting the metaphysical / supernatural / transcendental. The atheist especially focuses only on the physical. Their dilemma is that if by only physical means, the universe and everything in it could not exist in the first place. 1. nothing physical is or could ever be eternal (2nd Law of Thermodynamics) 2. nothing physical could come into existence from nothing (1st Law of Thermodynamics) Only by the metaphysical which supernaturally transcends physical law can anything exist. 1. the eternal source / creator existing forever without beginning or end 2. who (as the deliberate design of all things demands is an intelligent being) is supernaturally able to create everything else from nothing Atheists and their ilk will always be stopped (by their own stubborn refusal to accept and acknowledge the truth) at the border of fact for the origin of all things. They invent circular arguments and grasp after rabbit trail arguments about the implementation of time or lapse into some other form of blind faith fairy tales (ironically the very thing they accused theists of doing). But they refuse and will not face the facts. Without God nothing would even exist.
  5. Religion is a complex concept with no single definition due to its diverse manifestations across cultures. Scholars identify seven common characteristics shared by most religions, including stories/myths, belief in supernatural beings, use of symbols, rituals, clerics, altered states of consciousness, and evolving beliefs/practices over time. Religion is intertwined with culture and plays a vital role in preserving collective memory and identity. Despite variations, all religions share a mystical core that involves a profound connection with a transcendent reality. The study of religion involves understanding its multifaceted nature rather than reducing it to a set of universal principles or ideologies. Embracing the diversity of religions can foster mutual understanding, humility, and peace among different belief systems.1 1 New Testament Theology and Its Quest for Relevance: Ancient Texts and Modern Readers This technical definition reminds me of the successful ecumenical propagation of Pope Francis and his success in bringing back the “protesters” under the umbrella of the Catholic (Universal) Church. The “letters of agreement” were signed by the Vatican and some Muslim sects, and Abraham's commonalities were shared, leading to the One World Religion. As we all know, Christianity is not a religion. It is faith, trust, and a personal relationship with a person, and we know who and what that Person is.
  6. Great summary! The makings of a grand conundrum . . . Any ideas what the solution might look like?
  7. Today
  8. Agreed! I just didn't want to make it sound like Israel has never done anything sideways . . .
  9. I read a little book* this morning that really simplified my thinking. It said that there are really only two religions in the world - the religion that says we must do something to please God; and the one that says it has already been done in Christ! Put another way, one is a religion and the other is actually a relationship. Therefore our role is simply to believe (in Christ & His wonderful & complete atonement work) and let (Him operate in and through us)! What great blessings He has bestowed on us . . . this is truth and The Truth is making us free! * "done." by Cary Schmidt
  10. Hi, well I guess I am doomed to be the contrarian yet again. Or at least start there. For I can't help but think of and question then that God can and does turn some over to their own strong delusion. "God" and "their", where is Satan to be found in this? I cannot blame Satan and be excused because of him. I am accountable for myself. I was never innocent. I was born in sin; evidently capable of sin even before my birth, much as has been shared about Jacob and Esau wrestling in their mother's womb, jockeying for position; a wrestling (battle) that effects all of us to this day. Well at least me. I have only that hope that is certain to both fall back on and go forward with in total confidence and joy. That hope is in the faith of Jesus; His provision for me my eternal security with God Father Son and Holy Spirit. Satan did evidently deceive the first of wo-man; but the man the first man Adam was he deceived too? Seems not. The first Adam chose his lot, naively perhaps, deceiving himself perhaps. Satan the ruler over this present world, rails against God for sure, but is limited by God. He influences of course, but he does not foreknow nor predestine. He is a creation fallen, and not the creator. The question might be would Adam or Eve have eaten of the forbidden fruit if there were no Lucifer?
  11. Shalom, Cntrysner. I agree; we SHOULD listen to what Yeeshuwa` said, and the LAST THINGS He said were these: Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." Amen. You HAVE ADMITTED that the disciples - the apostles (sent ones) - could not do what Yeeshuwa` did; therefore, this is a WATER baptism! The word "baptizing" above is the Greek word is "βαπτίζοντες" which means "submerging" or "dunking" them! And, prior to this, the disciples were doing just what John had been doing: John 3:22-24 (KJV) 22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. 23 And John also was baptizing in AEnon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. 24 For John was not yet cast into prison. John 4:1-3 (KJV) 1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. Then, we read this: Acts 16:14-34 (KJV) 14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. 15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, "If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there." And she constrained us. 16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, "These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation." 18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, "I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And he came out the same hour. 19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, 20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, "These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, 21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans!" 22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent (tore) off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. 23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: 24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, "Do thyself no harm: for we are all here." 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31And they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. Now, I agree that God does indeed immerse us in His Ruwach haQodesh - His Holy Spirit - for His Son's sake, but we should not neglect the OTHER SIDE OF THE SAME COIN, namely, that Yeeshuwa` said to baptize with water - IMMERSE them IN WATER, as well. We baptize with water - not for the redemption itself - but because Yeeshuwa` TOLD us to do so and for a clean consciencce before Him.
  12. Beyond more childish snipes, I agree. You are so biased with the English translations, and your apparent fear of the idea of a very old earth, it is useless to share FACTS with you. They aren't sinking in. Casting doubts? I've not left any "doubt" to cast. I've provided the biblically defined meaning of "tohu wabohu" but your bias prevents the FACT sink in. Moses understood what he wrote. And so did Jeremiah, which is WHY he quoted from Gen 1:2 to describe the coming TOTAL DESTRUCTION of the land by a besieging army that destroys nations. Do you honestly believe that after such an army finishes with the nation it destroys that the land can be described as formless and void? Rather, the land can be described as an uninhabitable wasteland. This is what Jeremiah was warning about: Jer 4:20 - Disaster after disaster is proclaimed, for the whole land is laid waste. My tents are destroyed in an instant, my curtains in a moment. Clearly, Jeremiah wasn't describing earth at creation. Why do you default to evolution. I've been very clear throughout that evolution is evil and anti-biblical. Too bad you don't have the honesty to at least read what I post so you actually know what I believe. Seems all your posts are just your WRONG opinion about what I believe, and you equate my view with evolution, demonstrating your inability to think straight. Of course creation isn't a mystery. The Bible clearly says that God spoke everything into existence. That is easy to understand. However, creation wasn't detailed by God. What was detailed was the restoration of the earth after it became an uninhabitable wasteland. Then WHY do you keep defaulting to faulty English translations? So, what's YOUR excuse? It is very clear that the Hebrew words have no great meaning to you. Your bias has prevented the truth from penetrating your skull. Well, now you are just lying outright, since Ex 20:11 the word isn't "create" bara, as in Gen 1:1, but "made" as in asah. But you don't want to know the truth. News flash. God doesn't need anything. He created the heavens and earth by speaking them into existence. A great big BANG! And all the angels witnessed that magnificent event, and sang for joy. Job 38:7 You weren't there. but Psa 33:6,9 says He spoke things into existence. God is not required to do anything. He alone is sovereign. He gives us the details that He wants to give us. Including translations. Amen to all of this. All of man's knowledge (including translations) are subservient to God's knowledge. All generalized statements must be clear. Unlike the one you just made.
  13. Micah chapters 2 and 3 describe what is Israel, violently killing people who are averse to war (Micah 2:8). As a result, the Lord is angry with those in power and abandons Israel for their sakes to be plowed under, in order to eliminate the chaff for their their unjust ways (Micah 3:12). Following this cleansing, Micah 4:1-8, then describes a future Israel (after their gathering from the 4 corners of the earth), becoming the foremost of large nations (Micah 4:1), where people from all the worlds nations will go to for enlightenment (Micah 4:2). Obviously, this time is when the Lord has commenced to reign. After this telling of what will be the future state of Israel and the worlds nations; Micah 4:9-13, then describes in retrospect, evicted Israel throughout the worlds nations as a woman in travail experiencing birth pangs, who upon bringing forth, is made strong in the Lord (Micah 4:13). Micah 5:1-3, then goes further in retrospect to describe why the Lord Jesus has given up His days on earth, until this time, when she that travaileth hath brought forth, and the remnant of His brethren are gathered together with Israel (Micah 5:3). As these events of the travailing woman and bringing forth correlate with the travailing woman in Revelation 12, which is during the reign of the beast; we can then realize that the unjust actions of current Israel in Micah 2 & 3, are precursory events to those in Micah 4 & 5, and Revelation 12. Micah 2:8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war. Micah 3:12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest. Micah 4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. Micah 4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Micah 4:13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. Micah 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
  14. I am real. Don't you understand what you post? My response was to your post. That is variable forms. If an object has 3 dimensions, then it HAS FORM. From the source your quoted, which supports my claim that the earth cannot ever be formless. Your comments are just hilarious! The source you quoted explained the DIFFERENCE between shape and form, information which I appreciate. Thank you. Your source defined "shape" as having 2 dimensions, and "form" as 3. So you claim something whose form keep changing/shifting/etc as only 2 dimensions?? Really? If you can see an object, you are seeing its form. FACT. No, that's what you have done. Repeatedly. That is what you have done. No, it comes from what Moses wrote in 1400 BC, and two biblical writers wrote in 700 and 600 BC and Greek and Hewbrew scholars translated in 300 BC. So don't tell me anything about the 70's. My FACTS come from the Bible. Unlike your view. Which is only an English translation dated around 1611 AD. This wonderful passage doesn't even address Genesis 1 or creation. All the Bible is real evidence. Including what Moses wrote, and clearly defined by Jeremiah and Isaiah. But you don't believe evidence from the Bible. Only others who believe what you do about English translations. But not all English translations.
  15. It is Satan that is the deceiver of the whole world and all sin including your personal sin originated with the first rebel. So yes, Satan is the source of your troubles and he has been judged. Granted, once sinful habits have been established within you, they are self perpetuating.
  16. Unlike the cranial configuration of certain people, this discussion is pointless. Those who trust in God's word won't be swayed by attempts to cast doubt onto it or to weave false doctrine into it. Those who do not will readily accept whatever lie Satan concocts. The Mormons certainly did. They created their own "bible," based on a false prophet. Scientology is another false religion, as is the Jehovah's Witnesses. They may be steadfast in their commitment to the false doctrine, but it won't save them. Neither Revelation 16:18 nor anything else in the Bible is indicative of an ancient earth. There are no passages in the Bible that support evolution. Our creation is not a mystery to us. It was detailed by our Creator. We need no other authority but His word. If we have the Holy Spirit, God's word reveals all to us. If we don't, the words have no great meaning to us. The truth is not revealed to all, but to those who seek it the truth is easy to find. God Himself said it plainly in the Fourth Commandment, that in six days the Lord created the Heaven, the earth, and all that lives in it. He didn't need millions of years. He didn't do it in a nanosecond. He was not required to tell us anything of our creation, but who are we to doubt His word? Every word from man is contaminated by man's sin. Every word from God is holy and true. There is one true and useful knowledge; that Jesus Christ is the lamb of God; that He came to take away the sins of man; that He gave His life for our sins on the cross; that He rose again on the third day and confirmed all of what He had been teaching. All other knowledge is subservient to this.
  17. Shalom, @JoeCanada. Okay, I'm going to quote your original post, but I need to be able to break it apart to insert my additions. I don't know what is different, but I can't just break it with a well-positioned [RETURN]; so, it's going to require making quotes and cutting/pasting your stuff into those new quotes. And, in fair warning, this is going to be a long post. Just sayin'. First, Christians have been making a LOT of assumptions down through the last millennium! Some are not too bad; others are disasterous! IMO, one should DROP the "pre-trib," "pre-wrath," and "post-trib" labels and just start with the Scriptures. Come to RIGHT conclusions from Scriptures and let the chips fall where they may! Let's start with a proper understanding of 2 Peter 1:20-21: In the King James Version, this reads, 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Here's the Greek of these two verses: 20 τοῦτο πρῶτον γινώσκοντες ὅτι πᾶσα προφητεία γραφῆς ἰδίας ἐπιλύσεως οὐ γίνεται· 21 οὐ γὰρ θελήματι ἀνθρώπου ἠνέχθη ποτέ προφητεία ἀλλ᾽ ὑπὸ πνεύματος ἁγίου φερόμενοι ἐλάλησαν οἱ ἅγιοι θεοῦ ἄνθρωποι Transliterated, we get: 20 touto prooton ginooskontes hoti pasa profeeteia grafees idias epiluseoos ou ginetai; 21 ou gar theleemati anthroopou eenechthee pote profeeteia, all' hupo Pneumatos Hagiou feromenoi elaleesan hoi hagioi Theou anthroopoi. Translated word for word, we get: 20 this first knowing that any prophecy of-writing/Scripture of-its-own interpretation not is. 21 not for by-will of-a-man was-brought once/ever a-prophecy, but under Spirit of-Holy being-carried spoke of-the holy of-God men. In American English, we would write: 20 knowing this first, that any prophecy of Scripture is not of its own interpretation. 21 For a prophecy was not ever brought by [the] will of a man, but being carried under [the] Spirit of [the] Holy, men of the Holy God spoke. I've heard a MULTITUDE of misinterpretations of these two verses; so, we needed to clear this up first: This is NOT saying that a person can't understand the Scriptures on his or her own! Peter is telling us that the Scriptures which contain prophecy do not stand alone. They ALL come from men under the "inspiration" of the Holy God through His Holy Spirit. And, therefore, they do NOT stand alone! All the Scriptures that contain prophecy are interrelated because there is only ONE GOD! Therefore, we can also conclude from these verses that there are NO CONTRADICTIONS among all thr prophecies of Scripture. I agree with you that there is a difference between a return and a coming, and you are right that Matthew 24:29-31 describes the Second Coming of our Master Yeeshuwa` haMaashiyach 'Elohiym (our Lord Jesus the Christ or the Messiah of God). Have you ever looked up the word "shekinah?" It comes from the Hebrew word שָׁכַן transliterated as "shaakhan" (H7931) which means "abide; lodge; reside; or permanently stay." The word for "glory" in Hebrew is כָּבוֹד transliterated as "kaaVowd" (H3519). It means "to be heavy, weighty." Since it can also be talking about the "weight" of gold and silver, it is about BEING VALUED or VALUABLE. However, the word "glory" in Greek is δόξα transliterated as "doxa" which means "very apparent" like a wealthy person among the simple or like a bright white light among the darkness of space. Thus, it can mean "splendor, brightness." "Heaven" is from "Old English heofon, of Germanic origin; related to Dutch hemel and German Himmel." It's secondary meaning today is actually its original meaning and its historically primary meaning: "2 (often heavens) literary 'the sky,' especially perceived as a vault in which the sun, moon, stars, and planets are situated: Galileo used a telescope to observe the heavens." The same is true for the Greek word "οὐρανός" transliterated as "ouranos." It means "the sky." It is the root and primary component of μεσουράνημα transliterated as "mesouraneema" which means "mid-sky" where the fowl of the air fly (Rev. 19:17). All of these Greek words are found in Matthew 24:30! With these translations in verse 30, we will read it as: Matthew 24:30 (KJV with alterations) 29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the sky, and the powers of the skies shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in the sky: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of the sky with power and great brightness. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other." THIS is what the Greek is telling us: It's not saying that Yeeshuwa` will come "from heaven"; it's saying that He will come "from the sky!" This may seem trivial, but it is FUNDAMENTAL to the understanding of how the Second Coming will occur. When "stars fall out of the sky" they are called "meteors." When "stars fall out of the sky to the earth," they are called "meteorites." Mark's account also clears up "from one end of the sky to the other": Mark 13:24-27 (KJV with alterations) 24 "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25 And the stars of the sky shall fall, and the powers that are in the sky shall be shaken. 26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of the sky." This means "from the lowest point of the earth to the highest point of the sky"; so, "from one end of the sky to the other" would be VERTICALLY! "from the lowest point of the sky to the highest point." Neither Matthew's account nor Mark's nor Luke's says that He comes "upon his throne!" As a matter of fact, in Matthew's account Yeeshuwa` later says, Matthew 25:31 (KJV) 31 "When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:" This means that after He has arrived, He will take up His role as the King of Jews (and later as the King of all Israel) and begin His reign. *** Revelation 19:11 reads differently. Here's the Greek: 11 Καὶ εἶδον τὸν οὐρανὸν ἀνεῳγμένον, καὶ ἰδού, ἵππος λευκός καὶ ὁ καθήμενος ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν καλούμενος πιστὸς καὶ ἀληθινός καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃκρίνει καὶ πολεμεῖ This transliterates to ... 11 Kai eidon ton ouranon aneoogmenon, kai idou, hippos leukos kai ho katheemenos ep' auton kaloumenos pistos kai aleethinos kai en dikaiosunee krinei kai polemei Word for word, this translates to ... 11 And I-saw the sky opened-upward, and look!, a-horse white and the-[One] sitting upon it was-called "Faithful (Consistent) and True (Reliable)" and in righteousness/justice he-will-judge and he-will-wage-war Note that it does NOT say that He comes "from heaven" nor does it even say that He comes "from the sky!" How does a HORSE FLY?! No, the SKY BREAKS and He comes riding to the rescue! It's rather like Gandalf riding upon Shadowfax appearing on the mountain top as the sun rises above the battle below, in the movie "The Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers," when He arrives to save Theoden, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and all those with them in the Hornburg! That's how it will be when the Lord Yeeshuwa` the Messiah of God returns to fight! I'm going to finish up my comments at this point and just end with this: Many have a messed up view on the TIMING within the events of the Revelation. Just know this: Yeeshuwa` is not coming to "DESTROY THE EARTH"; He is coming TO BEGIN HIS REIGN UPON THE EARTH!
  18. Your thoughts are an excellent commentary on this verse: Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
  19. Seems to me that at least one of the "we' was individually mistaken to suggest, or declare, that another is a judaizer. It was kind of funny though! Got a chuckle out of it anyway, went good with morning coffee and toast.
  20. Seems the creature behind my own "hardships" is me. I cannot blame another creature for my own standing before God. I have been judged an heir to sin against God, born into it, an heir to the consequential fall of the first Adam. I am found to be short of perfection from before my birth even, and yet I am loved by my creator Yeshua whom has reconciled the irreconcilable, making perfection of that which is not perfect, for me personally, to be likened as being perfect in His Father's sight. Punishment has occurred and yet is still to occur, judgement(s) has occurred and yet is to be faced. Time itself will face it's own end(s). The wrath, the just wrath of God the Father, is before me, and yet my hope is certain, absolute, for it is placed in the faith of Yeshua whose willing sacrifice has covered my sin against God. How do I maintain certainty of my own hope? I do not even do that by my own power, but instead by the gift of God the Holy Spirit indwelling within me that I am aware of the certainty that is hope certain. I cannot detach myself from responsibility, as heir of what I am I can only give thanks to God for his perfect provision for my eternity forward. That eternity being a timeless pardon, one without condition except knowing of it, through the Holy Spirit's reveal, to delight in it having been changed by it turned about away from my sin against God. And even that knowledge and or turning itself coming not from me, but from God alone. No other creature can I blame, no creature can I claim. I am of God, by God alone. His will being done as he wills it from before time itself to after time itself.
  21. The creature behind these hardships has already been judged, it's just that the sentence hasn't yet been carried out. John 16:11, concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. A believer needs to know or remember where in the flow of time one stands and have confidence that there is an end to this trial of physical life. John 16:33, I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
  22. Rev. 19:10 (ESV), Last sentence in the verse: For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
  23. The wine press of the wrath of God is compressing. There is stress and pressure worldwide and just since the new year events seem to be compounding. Edit: Changed a word.
  24. We know if something would come true by those means, it would be by evil forces or spirits. And we know those evil spirits eventually would destroy a person.
  25. Good example of someone being warned, but then they have the choice to go on or not. Paul was not emotionally swayed from his course with the disciples weeping etc.
  26. I'd say it's slightly more nuanced than your summary. I think the important 'highlights' are as follows: - The British were given official stewardship of "The Palestinian Territory" in July 1920. - Approaching this period of British mandate, as the result of Jewish immigration, the Arabs had become increasingly concerned and violent because of the changing demographics. - The British solution to the conflict was a partition plan (Peel Commision 1937) that separated Jews from Arabs (with a stretch in between remaining under the control of Britain). The Jews didn't really give a universal, united response to this plan. The Arabs increased their violence in the land as a universal rejection of this plan. - After WWII, Jews also became increasingly desperate and violent - due to displaced Jews now needing a place to go. Jews therefore also became violent against the British for limiting immigration to the land. - In 1947, Britain asked the newly-formed UN to help provide a solution. The UN resolution for a two-state solution passed. Jews celebrated and Arabs increased their attacks on Jews. - On the final day of the British Mandate (Friday, May 14th, 1948), Israel declared Independence at 4PM. Egyptian bombs fell on Tel Aviv around 4 hours later. The military forces of the surrounding Arab states mobilized against Israel the following day - starting a war that would last two years.
  27. Correct. There are two narratives surrounding the "Nakba". There are many resources espousing the virtues of each narrative. The mainstream has adopted the narrative that incorrectly attributes Arab migration exclusively Israeli military intimidation. In this thread, you have also been a proponent of this false narrative.
