  1. I think it might be a good idea for each of us to state what we believe. I Wayne believe in one God and lord. I believe he is the creator of all matter and all things. I believe God is three persons. The Fathet the son and Holy Spirit. No other God exist. I will make this short. Not everything will I state. I believe Jesus the son of the Father created all things before his incarnation. He created all the authorities in the heavenly places. After the rebellion in heaven God the Father sent Jesus to our earth to redeem all of mankind those who hear the gospel and believe. I believe we each who are chosen by God to be his children are told by Jesus to work out our salvation. To bear fruit and be a light in the darkness. I believe we are told to wait with godly patience for our master Jesus to appear. And to be busy doing his will until he comes. That’s the basis of what I hold true. One thing I believe he rose from the dead. He was truly lifeless for three days and nights. Then he rose as king of glory he is glorified and rules in heaven till the last trumpet when he will be sent back with the holy Angels . I hope I believe correctly. I believe I do.

  2. @Neighbor @AdHoc @FJK @Marilyn C @Mr. M @Ray12614 @Starise Let me put the brother's statement into a fuller context. He said, "Many Christians believe that first we accept Christ and then we get a bunch of rules to follow . . . but they aren't taught to realize the real Christian life comes from the new life of Christ that's been placed into them!"

  3. 2 Corinthians 13:14 - (benediction of love) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Colossians 3:16-17 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Romans 15:13 - (benediction of hope) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

  5. Instructions given by the elders for the orderly activity of an Ecclesia are by definition "biblical rules", unless they contradict sound biblical doctrine. Members of the church, particularly new believers must be careful in their responsibility to follow the leadership of the church that they believe the Lord has placed them. That would put them in the place of obeying based on "personal likes and dislikes". In other words, knowledge from the tree of Good and Evil, by which we form many contrary opinions.

  6. Galatians 3: 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. A clear distinction is made in this instruction between believing, and having the faith of Christ necessary to walk in the Spirit, and be free from Law. Best description I have ever found in scripture is "instruction in righteousness", which every new believer must obtain. 2 Timothy 3: 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, (definition of Torah) 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  7. We only had one rule to follow in the Garden of Eden, and we ignored it. You can see the result to this day, so maybe those rules are a good thing to follow and a bad thing to ignore. There just may be a purpose for them that is beyond our immediate understanding.

  8. I stand corrected. I should have expanded the area and called it ancient enemies of Israel, including the Gaza Strip. The Philistines, during the prophetic career of Zechariah (520 B.C – 515 B.C.) when he prophesized. According to the Bible, the Philistines had a league of five major cities (Pentapolis): Ashdod, Ashkelon, Ekron (Tel Miqne; Khirbet el-Muqannaʿ), Gaza, and Gath.[1] If Zechariah is yet a future prophecy, which I suspect, HAMAS may flee to these cities, or in some way, this current war may expand to include the areas. At any rate, this war could have prophetic significance. [1] Sinclair, Lawrence A. 2000. “Philistines.” In Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible, edited by David Noel Freedman, Allen C. Myers, and Astrid B. Beck, 1050. Grand Rapids, MI: W.B. Eerdmans.

  10. Which is a good thing! Reminds me of the time I attended an all nighter revival service on the 11 floor of the "11 building" locally. The top floor was a Pentecostal church facility. I was invited by some childhood friends that were there to provide worship music for the local group. The attendees would come up front to receive a little loud blessing by an "elder" who would give them each a mighty smack on their forehead and they would then go running to the back of the auditorium and slam themselves into the back wall. Well that eventually caused the top floor to sway back and forth as they did this routine over and over. Sitting there some three hours, I got seasick and had to make my exit down the elevator 11 floors. Never did get to even meet with my musician friends from my childhood.

  11. 1 Timothy 4: 6 In pointing out these things to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the good doctrine which you have been following. 7 But stay away from worthless stories that are typical of old women. Rather, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; 8 for bodily training is just slightly beneficial, but godliness is beneficial for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9 It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance. 10 For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the living God,who is the Savior of all mankind, especially of believers. 11 Command and teach these things.

  13. Hi, Hmm, not necessarily a unilateral forgiveness without recourse or method. Forgiveness does have a strict methodology not unlike that shown the chosen people of God under the Law of Moses covenant, that is to be obeyed. The passages at Matthew 18 referencing the lost sheep, Mathew 11 through 35, instructed His disciples, and reminded Peter (and by extension each of us) of the grace of God, His mercy toward us individually, and the responsibility that is also our privilege to forgive as witnesses giving testimony of our Lord Yeshua by our own forgiving of slights against us. He, Yeshua, having died in order to be a willing sacrifice for our trespasses became our model for our mindset. Yet did his willing sacrifice forgive all? Is forgiveness of sin against God universal without response of repentance from that sin? Does the sinner have need to ask for forgiveness, and also to repent of it? Might the sinner fall back, "backslide" and have need of further forgiveness and his own repentance? Can he in effect crucify our Lord again? Anyway, the steps given in the forgiving of sin against a brother (Sister too) is specific. It may be repeated endlessly, but it is specific. It does not, as I see it, make one a doormat at all! It gives specific and logical means to demand a sin against one stop. It gives means to bring it before the whole body the local body of Christ. It gives instruction and means for casting out any member including any leader. It provides for the disqualifying of leaders from ever leading again too. I also suggest that those deciding to gather without rule, without leadership, are not in a good sound Bible believing and practicing Church body. For they as a body will have torn out and disregarded a major portion of the Bible, both OT and NT. If a local body does not engage in church discipline, as laid out at Matthew 18, that alone would be warning enough to stay clear of it. If anyone comes into having wisdom of Matthew 18 and yet continues to sit under leadership of overseers ( be it pastors, elders, deacons, or deaconesses) that do not adhere to it, they of course may suffer the severe weakness of that local church body. For that whole body will have opened their doors to belial.

  14. As long as you hold any grudge, or resentment, or ill will for another that you perceive has done you wrong, you have not forgiven him. I could talk a great deal about this from a Christian or secular perspective since I am not a naturally forgiving man and have has to struggle with this my entire life. But putting religious and other dutiful reasons for forgiveness aside and looking at what it forgiveness does to you from a practical standpoint, have you considered what carrying a grudge against another with you does to your life? I have never seen a man who is full of hate and anger and resentments against others who has led a happy, fulfilled or satisfying life, have you? Jesus taught that we are not defiled by what the world brings to us, but what we bring into the world out of our heart, and I've found the sin of unforgiveness is one of the most self defiling and subtle things we have to deal with. It seems that the ego always jumps to the forefront and defend it as justified so we can continue in it, but the truth is that we will never be free of the control of others -those we resent and bear grudges against- because of our unforgiveness unless we truly forgive so we can move toward God and Christ as we go forward from there. A great deal more can be said about this, but I find that forgiveness ends being something we do for ourselves as much or more more than for the person we are forgiving, it sets us free from the bondage of the grudges and hatreds we bear.

You can make your purchase direct by phone or on line from a provider. They will send you a phone that is ready to go with just a little help from them when you receive it. OR "perhaps" you might make a purchase at Target and get whomever is their local counter salesperson in that department to help you get set up. I recently bit the bullet and gave up my old S6 Iphone for a 14pro max. I might as well have been dropped off on Mars. It is a challenge for this old man. 23. Morning, well just barely eh? Looking at the reports from just yesterday, this change process will be a long term proposition, and even if approved there will be at least an additional six months of landline service. There will be much competition I think amongst cell service providers to get those of you in areas already serviced by them. You will get swamped with offers, and I would also expect a lot of SCAM offers! Take your time learning what's what, and participate in writing to the California Utilities commission, so that you specifically are not overlooked amongst the hundreds of thousands that will potentially be affected. This may also be a play to get the base rates increased and approved for landlines, but the era of landlines is over. Companies are not going to invest in keeping up their existing systems for long. Service will get worse and worse. You will have time to learn and work out your own needs.

  24. A border wall wouldn't keep everyone from crossing illegally though the majority which is probably the goal of added security as a wall. When the crossings become wide spread along a border and added measures are needed to manage the border effectively. Impenetrable border, no country could achieve that. Though countries do keep the flow down. A place like north Korea are likely around 90% or above.

    1 point
  28. I believe the splitting up of God's word into 66 books is not inspired of God, but instead has been for the convenience of book publishers. I do think that the word we have, though sufficient, may well be not complete. A missing letter of Paul to the church body at Corinth being a strong probability for example. I do not find the numbering of God's word into verses, nor into chapters, to be inspired. I do not find footnotes in any Bible to be inspired. All are useful tools, but not inspired. I do find the various best efforts (Exposition) by many determined scholars of the Bible to be sufficient for communicating the word of God, and to be very useful for sharing of the Gospel of Yeshua. I believe that The Holy Spirit makes a general call to all, but not necessarily a specific call to everyone. I do not care if one calls God the Triune God as I do, or not. For I do not find that word used as a conclusion or description of God within the Bible itself. It is the well reasoned conclusion of many men doing their best to be true to God's word. I believe Trinity does describe God. I do believe the Holy Spirit, the Son Yeshua, and God the Father all to be divine, having no beginning nor any end. I do believe in the eternal life and salvation of the Old Testament saints,- in Yeshua, or Messiah, to come. I do believe the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, via the born again experience, to be a real physical as well as a real spiritual experience, without which one is not yet saved to eternal life with God ( Father-Son-Holy Spirit). Yes I believe the Holy Spirit to be God, not an attribute of God, but instead a person with His own attributes, serving God the Father and also the Son though all are equally divine. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are also one. To see or experience or know one is to know all, but that comes through the work of the Holy Spirit who reveals Yeshua. I believe the only sin that is not covered by the shed blood of Yeshua is that of denying the Spirit's reveal of Yeshua himself. Without acceptance of Yeshua as Lord there is no salvation for it by His faith alone that any are saved to be with divine the "Godhead" ( Father Son and Holy Spirit). I do not believe Gifts of the Spirit are term limited. Not all receive all gifts however. Finally I believe God has far fewer rules for man than man makes for either God or other men to follow .

  29. What did Jesus believe about the Scriptures? He knew the Scriptures thoroughly, even to words and verb tenses. He obviously had either memorized vast portions or knew it instinctively: John 7:15.2 He believed every word of Scripture. All the prophecies concerning Himself were fulfilled,3 and He believed beforehand they would be.4 He believed the Old Testament was historical fact. This is very clear, even though from the Creation (cf. Genesis 2:24 and Matthew 19:4, 5) onward, much of what He believed has long been under fire by critics, as being mere fiction. Some examples of historical facts:.... He believed the Old Testament was spoken by God Himself, or written by the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, even though the pen was held by men: Matthew 19:4, 5; 22:31, 32, 43; Mark 12:26; Luke 20:37. He believed Scripture was more powerful than His miracles: Luke 16:29, 31. He actually quoted it in overthrowing Satan! The O.T. Scriptures were the arbiter in every dispute: Matthew 4; Luke 16:29, 31. He quoted Scripture as the basis for his own teaching. His ethics were the same as what we find already written in Scripture: Matthew 7:12; 19:18, 19; 22:40; Mark 7:9, 13; 10:19; 12:24, 29–31; Luke 18:20. He warned against replacing it with something else, or adding or subtracting from it. The Jewish leaders in His day had added to it with their Oral Traditions: Matthew 5:17; 15:1–9; 22:29; (cf. Matthew 5:43, 44); Mark 7:1–12. (Destroying faith in the Bible as God’s Word will open the door today to a “new” Tradition.) He will judge all men in the last day, as Messiah and King, on the basis of His infallible Word committed to writing by fallible men, guided by the infallible Holy Spirit: Matthew 25:31; John 5:22, 27; 12:48; Romans 2:16. He made provision for the New Testament (B’rit Hadashah) by sending the Holy Spirit (the Ruach HaKodesh). We must note that He Himself never wrote one word of Scripture although He is the Word of God Himself (the living Torah in flesh and blood, see John, chapter 1). He committed the task of all writing of the Word of God to fallible men—guided by the infallible Holy Spirit. The apostles” words had the same authority as Christ’s: Matthew 10:14, 15; Luke 10:16; John 13:20; 14:22; 15:26, 27; 16:12–14. source So by this we know that Jesus considered the Scriptures to be accurate and the inspired word of God. The word of the Creator takes precedence over spurious claims of men who foolishly claim a natural formation of a universe that was created by supernatural forces. The fact is, if the world IS a supernatural creation, science can never be right about its origin. For example, on day three God created trees bearing fruit. It takes a fruit tree 6-9 years to bear fruit, so He created a mature tree. Adam could walk and talk an instant after his creation, so God created Adam in his mature form. God told the birds, fish and animals to be fruitful and multiply, which means they were created in their maturity. God created a planet in its maturity; fully capable of supporting life. If you walked through the plush garden of Eden, you would think it had grown up over several decades, even though it was mere hours or days old. The elephants which were sent forth to multiply were at least 18 years old when they were created. If there were oak trees there, they could well have been 100 years old on their creation day. The ultimate authority is not the creation, but the Creator. The Heavens declare the glory of the Lord. The stars and planets are not evolved from chaos but created with order in very specific patterns. We can look at the planets in our solar system and we know that they do not all rotate in the same direction. According to the law of angular motion, had they come from a central source, scientifically they would all rotate in the same way. However, they do not. God leaves clues for His miracles for those who will believe. For the non-believer, no evidence will ever be enough.

  30. Hi @secondtimearound Great to have been smoke-free for 42 years, right? It used to be that mothers and fathers and sons and daughters would almost 'inherit' the smoking habit. A century ago, with women working in factories and then with huge numbers of women joining the military, it became pretty normal for teen daughters to start to share the contents of their mothers' cigarette packs; and for fathers and sons to go to a bar for beer in a smoke-filled establishment.

  31. Hi, I am going to go full out contrarian on this one for the sake of thinking the presentation through if nothing else: 1, Yeshua made all; all that has been made has been made by Yeshua for the good purposes of God His Father that being His pleasure. 2, I am to care very much about food and what God has given within his covenants to me "as meat" Just as God has been very generous and specific, I should be carefully appreciative and precise in my obedience. If God says leave nothing for tomorrow consume it all before next dawn, I should, even must, do so. 3, God has devoted fully 25% of his word to money. He has used money examples in his lessons about servants serving masters, rewarding those with the best gain for their master. And how to best utilize wealth in sharing of it that all that "work" may be blessed of it and be enabled by God to bless God without resentment of God for one's poverty, nor be able to ignore God because of one's wealth. 4, So called secular people ar enot without standards of decency. They do not drink to excess a bit more than a Baptist alcoholic might, nor do they travel more than a Christian missionary might be led to by the Holy Spirit, nor do they take retreat for rest more than any cluster of Elders Deacons and Deaconesses might as a "retreat". Conclusion: I care very much about much of what affects the world. Though I am not of this world, having be born again, I am in this world.

The seat of His power and overall authority will be in heaven, but that does not mean that he does not/cannot have other thrones upon which He will sit, including this one on earth: Ezekiel 43: 7 And He said to me, “Son of man, this [the Millennial temple on earth] is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever." For years now I have relied upon Verizon without too much of an issue, except at the one place where I have bought a home in the mountains, but then no one penetrates that area. It took over a year to get landline service activated there and it has iffy service at best. I have to drive nine miles find a spot on the side of the road between mountain peaks and hold the cell phone just right and zip,- send a text. So I am not especially chatty on phones.

  42. I don't use mine much, most of my reason for having it is emergencies when I'm away from home or a backup if my landline should go down, but it has always worked perfectly whenever I've used it. I used to use it on a fairly frequent basis when I first got it (had a higher limit plan then) and it never gave me problems. FWIW, I switched to Tello from T-Mobile when they dropped 3G service and I had to buy a new phone form them to use 4G that was still available, T-Mobile has always given me reception problems and after the 4G switch it became almost unusable most of the time. T-Mobiles plans weren't bad (although twice as expensive as Tello) but their service in my area became really difficult, don't know whey and couldn't find out. You can look Tello up on the Internet and check out their plans, they seem to be able to tailor a plan for your needs so you don't have to buy a lot of services you don't need. I'm not particularly promoting any brand, just giving my experience and noting that I'm a very light user of cellular services these days so YMMV.

  46. If that's actually true, then let me ask simple questions that make me wonder about it: Why did God appoint Chairman Mao as ruler of China? Why did God appoint Castro as ruler of Cuba? Why did God appoint Ali Khamenei as Ruler of Iran? Since all of these men were appointed by God shouldn't all of their actions and those obeying them be considered Holy actions? For that matter why did Paul spend so much time in prison for disobedience to his appointed rulers from Rome (under which he was a subject)? I think that "no rulers not appointed by him" is one of the most misused scriptures of the Bible, it justifies absolutely every form of dictated evil and makes disobeying evil a sin in itself.

  47. I believe that it's good to come forward and share. My last attempt at suicide took place when I was close to death. I've shared about that day with others in general terms, omitting certain details that weren't needful to relate at the time. I've never suffered in such a way before in all of my life, and it was dreadful to open my eyes to yet another day of wasting away. I suffered from multiple infections in this body --- my teeth were affected, and I lost all of them --- and it was so excruciating to eat that I experienced the effects of starvation and malnutrition. Regions of my brain were damaged by this ordeal, robbing me of the ability to focus and speak. My hair was falling out in clumps; I was so emaciated that I couldn't recognize my reflection in the mirror, and I wasn't oblivious to how this was affecting my adopted mother. My slow death was devastating her. When we first met, I was healthy and strong. I managed her ranch while she dealt with her own health issues --- cancer and liver disease --- and I took care of her whenever she was bedridden. Now, she had to take care of me because I lacked the strength to stand on my feet for long. It was too much to bear. She needed to be liberated of the burden I had become and this, along with the agony of living, motivated me to "hurry things along" to their inevitable conclusion. I chose a day when she left the mountains to run errands in the city as my last day on earth. I didn't want her to be around --- it was a two-hour drive one way --- so I hoped that would give me enough time to work my way into the wilderness where I would never be found. It's a desolate place up there, a place where people disappear without a trace every year. It would be better that way. I'm not going to share the chosen method, only that I cried out to the Lord in despair beforehand. I had failed Him! I had failed my Lord, but living was just too much to bear, and I had lost everything. I had nothing left. I couldn't even speak to Him. All I could manage was moaning, groaning, and weeping. My attempt failed. Immediately following this failure, the Spirit of the Lord drew near.

  48. Ok here goes .... Im a private person so this is a bit of a big step for me to talk about it on the forums ... I was not saved until I was 30. The attempt happened in my early 20s. At the time I believed in a universal god but not The One True God. And I thought Jesus was just a man not a big deal. I was engaged to someone prior to my husband. One night he came to me and said he didnt love me or need me any more. My world crashed. Half our friends decided they didnt want to be around me any more. Some let me know who he was dating etc in rather brutal ways. I was not sleeping or eating well at all. 2 months later, I went down to mexico to camp on the beach with some friends. Rocky point is a popular place for arizonans to camp at. We were having a campfire on the beach and I got up to get something. When I left, everyone was paired up, married couples etc. So I was feeling lonely and miserable. When I came back, no one was there. I sat down and thought about how peaceful the ocean was. How easy it would be to just start swimming until I could not any more. I knew what it was like to almost drown. That happened to me when I was around 9. I figured it wouldnt be too bad. The sharks scared me a bit but I decided that was not a problem. Just as I was about to get up and go for a last final swim, this drunk came up and dumped a beer in my lap. My viking rage came out. The guy sat down and started chatting with me. Turns out he was a pastors son. When he left, I decided to fight, not to let my broken heart get the best of me, not to let my former fiancee crush me any longer. At the time I knew it was "god" but not the Lord, only the universal one I believed in at the time. Looking back I know it was the Christian God, sparing me for His purpose. For any one who feels life isnt worth it any more, who is considering choosing to die, please do not do so. Consider psalm 23 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. The Lord is there with you always.
