  1. I don't think it really matters. Jesus said to forgive all of all sorts of offenses. He is not telling us to be a doormat. We do it standing up on the inside and speaking with the authority of the Holy Spirit. We employ the authorities when it helps, like suing for threats. So keep all communications. Mat 5:43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' Mat 5:44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Mat 5:45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Mat 5:46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? Mat 5:47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Mat 5:48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Col 3:12 ESV Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, Col 3:13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
  2. I was asked today if I was ready for halloween. I replied that I don't celebrate it. She looked shocked so I elaborated that I don't like to celebrate evil. She said she agreed when I put it that way.
  3. Welcome to Worthy. NEVER have a child to fill your own need. Have one to raise a strong Christian, to give him the best possible home full of love, consistency and the type of discipline that trains a child in the way she should go. That is, be firm when he errs and reward good behavior with fun things. I learned how to raise kids by AKC dog training, and it worked better on our kids than on the dog . Sons are serving God and raising their teens to follow the Lord as well. It is the hardest job you will ever have.
  4. Do you believe that the Bible is God breathed, entirely inspired by God and without error? "We believe that the 66 books of the Canon, from Genesis to Revelation are the exhaustive, inerrant and inspired word of God."
  5. There is a difference between a person whose lifestyle is sin, such as a person who continually commits adultery, murders, lies, or fornicates, and a person who occasionally falls and asks for forgiveness. We all are imperfect. Php 3:12 NKJV Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Php 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, Php 3:14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 1Jn 3:3 ESV And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. 1Jn 3:4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 1Jn 3:5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 1Jn 3:6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. 1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 1Jn 3:8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 1Jn 3:9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. 1Jn 3:10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. 1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1Jn 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1Jn 1:10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
  6. Welcome to Worthy, Omega2xx. Joh 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." Joh 8:57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." Joh 8:59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
  7. I have known people who became great imitators of the way others act in church. One claimed he was filled with the Holy Spirit but got 3 girls pregnant at the same time. One claimed the same but bad mouthed his sister and her husband who are both solid Christians, and then admitted he acts the way people want him to act. It amazes me to hear these things yet I was once more of a people pleaser than a God pleaser. I had started in the Spirit but tried to be perfected by the flesh and got off course. Maybe others do the same, or maybe they are just manipulating people to try to be in control. I don't have many answers. For me it was a matter of again repenting, knowing I was lost and without hope, then surrendering to Jesus as Lord and Master of my life, becoming His bond-slave.
  8. Thank you for another old favorite by Andrae Crouch.
  9. I don't know how long a scripture bomb is. Personally, I find that a point that is not supported by the word is useless. My opinion is ridiculous if it is not in God's word. You have been here a long time. The posts that I have valued the most have been Fresno Joe's. God's word enlightens and teaches; it gives wisdom.
  10. Steve, Wingnut and Omega are the workhorses here. They are the authorities directly under George and above the rest of us. Many like Jade, Angels and others put in many hours here. Some of us are hit and miss due to our appointments and schedules. Do pray for Omega whose health had not been as good due to heart and breathing problems, and for continued healing for Jade. Also pray for George and his family who are in the "line of fire" near the Dead Sea in Israel. Thank you all.
  11. I also had laser surgery for cataracts and it was very successful. It occurred about a year after I joined Worthy, and I remember I had problems reading my Bible back then. I needed glasses for astigmatism and myopia. Afterwards I only needed them for reading. Praise God! It sounds scary but it was a breeze!. And I was awake the whole time. Who would have thunk! Our God is faithful.
  12. The scale has tipped to the side of women in many cases. Women are most often given custody of the kids. However, men who try to subjugate women to the level of a dog, (Arabs often value their Salukis above women) are very demeaning, Some consider us just a sex toy. This is also very demeaning. We should be considered helpmeet partners. Women should receive equal pay for equal work. Aside from those things, Women should respect a man's leadership in the church and in the home. That is a matter of order, not of worth.
  13. I have never even cosigned loans for my kids. Instead I have bought cars for them and arranged for them to buy them from me as a personal loan.
  14. My old friend had denied her faith in Christ because she doesn't believe the Bible. She had leaned to hypnotize herself while practicing thai quando and complained that one time she couldn't bring herself out of it. She had also practiced meditation and other Eastern religious practices, and says that all religions lead to God. She prays to her dead mother, even though I have warned her that she is praying to a demon. She also had demonic nightmares that are so bad she is terrified to go to sleep. She she is disappointed that I don't respect her religion that she claims works for her. All I can do is continue praying for her and love her, even though my heart is breaking that she does not love the truth which would set her free. She cannot say the words "Jesus is Lord" even though she once did when we were baptized together in the 10 the grade. Father God, please have mercy on her and open her eyes and ears to the truth, and save her soul. In the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ, Amen
  15. 2 or 3 witnesses also testified that a thing is true. When Jesus was baptized he had a Voice from heaven the confirmation of the Holy Spirit coming upon Jesus like a dove, the prophets and the testimony of John the Baptist.
  16. I either sit by myself or near a fellow prayer warrior. We usually talk afterwards. Occasionally before church I greet newcomers or people I had not been acquainted with in our large church.
  17. We are here to serve God and He directed us to serve mankind.
  18. It hurts me to the quick when I hear it. Sometimes I respond that He really loves you. Usually I just pity them and pray for their salvation.
  19. I hope your husband has not been abusive toward your daughter. If she ever tells you anything like that, believe her and be supportive. Meanwhile, she is coming to the teen age years when there are two women in the house. As much as I loved my mom, I still felt that friction and it wasn't till I had my own home that we became close again. So just hope that you will eventually become close again and pray for her. She may never be your little girl again but perhaps you can become close friends.
  20. G1062 (Word Study) γάμος gámos; gen. gámou, masc. noun. Marriage, a wedding feast (Mat 22:10-12; Luk 14:8; Joh 2:1-2); the actual joining of a husband and wife (Heb 13:4). Used also of the wedding festivities in the pl., gámoi (Luk 12:36; Mat 22:2-4, Mat 22:9, alternately with the sing., Mat 22:8, Mat 22:10-12; Mat 25:10gámous). The expression, "the wedding feast of the Lamb" (a.t. [Rev 19:7, Rev 19:9]), and also certain parables (Mat 22:2 ff.; Mat 25:1-10), refer to the "husband-wife" relationship of God to Israel as presented in Isa 54:4 ff.; Hos 2:19. This relationship of Jehovah to His people in the OT, Israel, was to be fully realized in the Messianic era (to which the expression in Joh 3:29, and perhaps Mat 9:15, points) and is parlayed into Christ's relation to His redeemed bride, the Church, in the NT (2Co 11:2; Eph 5:26-27; Rev 21:2; Rev 22:17). The marriage of the Lamb is the consummation of salvation to be ushered in by the parousía(G3952), the appearing of the Lord. gamos (G1062), "a marriage, wedding," or "wedding feast," is used to denote (a) the ceremony and its proceedings, including the "marriage feast," Joh 2:1, Joh 2:2; of the "marriage ceremony" only, figuratively, Rev 19:7, as distinct from the "marriage feast" (Rev 19:9); (b) "the marriage feast," RV in Mat 22:2-4, Mat 22:9; in Mat 22:8, Mat 22:10, "wedding;" in Mat 25:10, RV "marriage feast;" so Luk 12:36; Luk 14:8; in Mat 22:11, Mat 22:12, the "wedding garment" is, lit., "a garment of a wedding." In Revelation 19, where, under the figure of a "marriage," the union of Christ, as the Lamb of God, with His heavenly bride is so described, the marriage itself takes place in heaven during the Parousia, Rev 19:7 (the aorist or point tense indicating an accomplished fact; the bride is called "His wife"); the "marriage feast" or supper is to take place on earth, after the Second Advent, Rev 19:9. That Christ is spoken of as the Lamb points to His atoning sacrifice as the ground upon which the spiritual union takes place. The background of the phraseology lies in the OT description of the relation of God to Israel, e.g., Isa 54:4,ff.; Eze 16:7,ff.; Hos 2:19; (c) "marriage" in general, including the "married" state, which is to be "had in honor," Heb 13:4, RV. Note: Among the Jews the "marriage supper" took place in the husband's house and was the great social event in the family life. Large hospitality, and resentment at the refusal of an invitation, are indicated in Mat 22:1-14. The "marriage" in Cana exhibits the way in which a "marriage feast" was conducted in humbler homes. Special honor attached to the male friends of the bridegroom, "the sons of the bridechamber, Mat 9:15, RV (see BRIDECHAMBER). At the close the parents conducted the bride to the nuptial chamber (cf. Jdg 15:1) Vine Weddings were usually arranged by the parents but the bride had to accept by drinking of a cup. The pair were betrothed which was an official engagement in which they were as good as married but without sex or living together. They were given to each other by the families. The marriage included a dowry and a great feast which might last a week. So it seems it was a family affair with acquaintances in attendance as well. They lived in a room that was added to the grooms house and when the marriage was consummated they would announce to the guests, "it is done". The whole thing was very public and official in the sense that the whole families and friends of both parties were involved. So if the union was not conducted in that way, the pair were not considered to be married. So we have a similar tradition. At one time the marriages were officially recorded by the churches. I have an ancestor who was married by publication in the general store. The bans were posted. He was a circuit riding Baptist minister in the frontier of Kentucky. So traditions have changed due to circumstances. We post engagements and weddings in newspapers.
  21. I use the child lock for myself so I won't flip through channels and start watching trash. I put limits on language, violence and sex because I don't want to swim in the sewer.
  22. Jesus did not consider a couple to be married unless it was legal, whether through the state or the synagog. I don't know how they married then. But He didn't consider people to be married who only lived together. Consider the woman at the well. So it is fornication, and there will be no fornicators in heaven. My own income has decreased since my husband's death so I am also in the midst of all this. It is more important to me to be in fellowship with my Father and not to have guilt hanging over me. It is most important to honor God in what I do. I am not judging others. God will do that.
  23. Lazarus also saw corruption but he came forth from the tomb bound up like a mummy when Jesus commanded it. Many people were saved by seeing this. I believe we are to take your passage literally.
  24. Most of what I consider to be metal is really hard rock. Whitecross, Bloodgood, Bride :Snakes on the Playground", REZ, X-Sinner "Get It" and King's X. The latter is on a secular label. Galactic Cowboys is on the same label and is harder. Tourniquet is metal but I respect it for its classical foundation. Did you know that Jerusalem prophesied the removal of the Berlin Wall a year before it came down? That was on Dancing on the Head of the Serpent. I know kids who got saved just reading the lyrics of Bloodgood's Out of the Darkness. I like Idle Cure as well but it isn't quite as hard. Another rock favorite is Audio Adrenalin. Mastedon was pretty good. King's X is based on a trilogy by CS Lewis, and Out of the Silent Planet is a little alternative but one of my favorites. On the other hand another favorite is ONE BAD PIG (punk). I weep during Isaiah 6-it really touches me. Some of it is just fun and some is hard preaching. Another punk/alternative that is a little crazy is Breakfast with Amy. Blessings and I hope you fine more that you like..
