  1. Today people try to work up faith in their faith. Jesus wants us to have faith in the Father. Rom 8:31 NKJV What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Rom 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
  2. Welcome to Worthy, Felipe. Some people don't believe dinorsaurs existed. A few believe the earth is flat and that men walking on the moon is a hoax. Most of us are not irrational. As to the time that has past, the measurements of past time are not dependable. There are scientists that have serious doubts about the current theories of evolution, especially of "big bang". Many theories of evolution have disproven themselves. However, any thought to the contrary is ridiculed by the establishment and those scientists are often blackballed. There are no "missing links". There have been many times they have claimed to have been found but the peers of those scientist have disproven them. After you have lived a few decades you discover that our knowledge is constantly changing and that which seems a fact today is disproven tomorrow. No knowledge is certain. That being said there have been some fairly complete skeletons of dinosaurs discovered-enough to be pretty certain that they did exist. The Bible tells us that to God 1000 years are like a day. He created everything before time existed and He created time itself. Our God is beyond our comprehension. The bottom line is: do you need to be forgiven? Do you know that your Creator is a holy God Who demands perfection? The Bible tells us there is only one way for you to be forgiven, and that is the plan provided by God Himself. No one can be good enough to be forgiven or to escape eternal punishment. No other religion on earth provides a way for man to be forgiven and to give him a new start, a new life that is satisfying and full of love joy and peace in spite of the circumstances we live in. Moreover, it involves not in escaping from life but in embracing eternal life. I challenge you to search for the God that we worship, your Creator.
  3. .Rom 7:18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. 2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. It is Christ in us that is worthy. I am just a container, hoping to empty itself of self so that there is more room for the love of Christ to grow and fill this vessel, that His Spirit may overflow to others as rivers of living water.
  4. I strike up conversations with strangers in a small cafe and look for opportunities to glorify God or to share love with them, or just kindness.
  5. Luk 16:10 "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. Luk 16:11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? Luk 16:12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."
  6. You are right. Only I would add that it was not till the Holy Spirit had been poured out that we received the power to live the Christians life and bear fruit, being connected then to Jesus the life giving Vine. Joh 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. Joh 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. It is also true that we are not under bondage to tithe. However, we are to support our local pastors and the ministries of God as well as the poor in our churches and the poor churches. 1Ti 5:17 ESV Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching. 1Ti 5:18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.” Gal 2:9 and when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. Gal 2:10 Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do. These seem to be the only restrictions placed on the Gentile church: Act 21:25 But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality." YET 1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 1Co 6:10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1Co 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. We look at blood and things sacrificed to idols as a given, yet the love of money is called idolatry, and there is growing trend to mix other religions with Christianity, many of them idolatrous. Namely are mind emptying meditation with mantras, yoga, and those martial arts that include self hypnosis and eastern religion. Many Buddhas are acknowledged to be demons. Others are just ethical religions, but all are departing from Jesus Christ who said: "I AM the way, the truth and the life; no man can come to the Father but by Me." We are not allowed to combine Christ with other religions. It is not Jesus plus works or Jesus plus anything else. It is through faith alone, through the Scriptures alone, by the grace provided by Christ on the cross alone.
  7. My dad spoke of the baseball sized stuff in Nebraska, but we only had quarter sized hail here one time. It piled up a foot high in places and several inches covered the grass. A river of melting water rushed down the center of the street as it was mounded on each side creating a channel. This was very strange for our area which is not prone to tornados or severe thunderstorms.
  8. God compares the relationship between a Christian to Christ as being like that of a woman to a man. We might have "puppy love" or be infatuated with a man, but that doesn't mean you are married to him. If your love is temporary it is not genuine love. Christian love means total commitmitment, for better or for worse, no going back. It is that way in a marriage, and it is that way in your relationship with Christ. You give your whole self to Him, once for all time, no going back. It is total commitment to honor and obey, till death. This person knows that life is not worth living without God in it. I don't know if you have totally given yourself to God or not. Have you completely surrendered to Him as your Lord and Master? Only you can answer that. Some people want a Savior but not a Lord. They don't want to put down roots, clinging to and relying on Christ's words. We should always be growing in our relationship with Him and applying His words to our lives. We need to hunger for Him and long for Him. Psa 42:1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. Psa 42:2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?
  9. As George pointed out, the lamb was chosen on the 10th, a Sunday, and was examined for 3 days, MON, Tue, Wed. then sacrificed on Thursday, the 14th of Nissan. Jesus celebrated Passover on Wednesday night (ie Thursday) had the illegal trial, was crucified and taken down before sunset on Thursday, which began two holy days in a row: Unleaven Bread and normal Sabbath on Friday and Saturday. He arose sometime Saturday night (ie Sunday), which is the feast of First Fruits. He was the first fruits from the grave. So He was dead part Thursday, Thurs/Fri, Fi/Sat, and part Sat/Sun. We are only told He arose prior to first light when the women arrived at the tomb. I celebrate First Fruits. Should you judge me as hell bound for doing so, remember that I answer to my Master just as you answer to yours. I do not condemn you for worshipping on Saturday. It is your choice according to your conscience. Luk 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
  10. Amy Carmichael the missionary to India who rescued children from abuse, and who ran a shelter for them despite having fibromyalgia. Of course, Corrie tenBoom is a favorite. She walked in faith and obedience.
  11. I only watched part of one of the movies. They do seem to be full of witchcraft and occult. At least the old fairy tales had clearly defined good and evil, and psychologist first endorsed them for that reason. Since then there has been a proliferation of occult but with evil being called good.
  12. People should be true to themselves and be the same person with whomever they are around. Someone recently told me that he has learned to be a different person with whomever he is talking too. That is pretty much a definition of a hypocrite. He pretends to be someone he is not.
  13. 1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sin, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 Tim 4:10 the Savior of all men, especially of these who believe. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation for all men. If it had meant only the elect it would have said only the elect. Instead it says--1 Tim 2:4 --Who desired all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. All means all. 3) the world, the universe 4) the circle of the earth, the earth 5) the inhabitants of the earth, men, the human family 6) the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of men alienated from God, and therefore hostile to the cause of Christ Thayer (B) The earth, this lower world as the abode of man. (1) The then-known world and particularly the people who lived in it (Mar 16:15; Joh 16:21, Joh 16:28; Joh 21:25; 1Ti 3:16; 1Pe 5:9; 2Pe 3:6). To come or be sent into the world means to be born, as in Joh 1:9. To go forth into the world means to appear before men as in Joh 3:17, Joh 3:19; Joh 6:14; 1Ti 1:15; Heb 10:5; 1Jn 4:1, 1Jn 4:9; 2Jn 1:7. Hyperbolically (Mat 4:8, "all the kingdoms of the world"; see Rom 1:8). (2)Metonymically, the world meaning the inhabitants of the earth, men, mankind (Mat 5:14; Mat 13:38; Joh 1:29; Joh 3:16; Rom 3:6, Rom 3:19; 1Co 4:13; 2Co 5:19; Heb 11:7; 2Pe 2:5; 1Jn 2:2). Word Study Dictionary, Zodhiates. When your theology doesn't fit with all of Scripture, it is time to rethink your theology instead of adding words to Holy Scripture for the purpose of changing the meaning to fit your ideas.
  14. God doesn't give us more than we can handle. Twice I have had amnesia concerning traumatic occurrences. One was an auto accident in which I did not expect to survive. In the instant I went out of control and went over the embankment I committed my family to God. After I woke I had forgotten our youngest son was in the car till I heard him moan. He had fallen through the window and was on a pile of tumble weeds. Bits a pieces came back to me over a year's time. The worst part of it was, as I sat on the hospital bed combing the glass out of my hair, my hair fell out in a huge pile! The shock did it. I had also not remembered that my Boston Terrier had been in the car. The policeman found him and rescued him. Bits and pieces of the incident came back to me over a year's time. For Years I was terrified on gravel roads should the back end of the car begin to "fish tail". This is the point I am trying to make. When God does it, it is hard but he brings back segments till in time you can make it into a whole story. By that time it is no longer as terrifying and you can manage to live with it. Reliving those things is not easy, but He shows us how to deal with things and trust that God can bring good out of them. At the time of the accident my husband was a new Christian who had just decided to back out of being baptized. When the hospital called saying that his wife and son had been in an accident and his wife was being help for observation, they didn't indicate that our son was alive. As my husband drove the 10 miles to the hospital, he found himself thanking God for the time we had our 4 year old! I don't think I could have done that as a new Christian. It revealed that his faith was real and had a depth that only could have come from God's grace. He was baptized two weeks later. As a result of his example our sons also desired to follow Christ and be baptized, although we held them off a few years.
  15. I was told by a Christian psychologist and our churches' associate pastor that it is psychologically predictable for people who cannot repay their benefactors to turn against them. That is why it is best to give anonymously to the poor. It is true that some people can receive gifts as from the Lord, Who is our ultimate supplier even when He uses people. However even Christians are inclined to become beholden to people and to turn against them when they can't repay. As I have said before, that is why the current hand outs of our socialistic government doesn't work and why so many try to scam the government. They save face and feel in control by scamming, or they become ungrateful or feel entitled and demanding. It is how they preserve their dignity. It is also why most men in Russia are alcoholics according to Russian evangelistic Christians, and why so many women become prostitutes there. Socialism robs people of their self respect. Others have said and I concur that some are desperate and in great need or in temporary need. These definitely need help. This is especially true of disaster relief.
  16. Wikipedia In 1980, LeFevre attended a concert by the CCM group, 2nd Chapter of Acts. Their long hair and music showed that they weren't concerned with outward appearances, but with issues of the heart. Buck Herring, the group’s leader, led the people in prayer and LeFevre prayed along and submitted to Jesus as the Lord of his life.[3] LeFevre quit secular rock and returned to his home church at Mt. Paran Church of God, in Atlanta—where he worked as a janitor, while attending Bible-study classes. His first challenge was to get out of his music contract which, according to the terms, could only be broken "by an act of God". LeFevre's attorney argued that being born again is an act of God and won the case. In return for release from his contract, LeFevre agreed to give up all future royalties on his songs, publishing and recordings.[3] In 1981, he started a Christian band called The Gathering Ground Band, later to be renamed Airborn with some musicians he met in the Bible study: Dean Harrington (lead guitar, vocals, percussion), Don Woods (drums/percussion), Kim Klaudt (bass), Mike Adams (rhythm guitar) and Michael Milsap (keyboards). In 1982, the band changed their name to Broken Heart. A small offshoot gospel label from MCA Records known as Songbird released Broken Heart's first album Brand New Start (1982),[11]with members: Dean Harrington, Kenny Bentley (bass/vocals), Stan Coates (keyboards/vocals), Ben Hewitt (drums/percussion), and Mike Adams. Others musicians who helped with the first album were: Joe Hardy (bass, guitars, percussion), John Hampton (drums), Ed DeGarmo (of DeGarmo and Key; organ/synthesizer), Jack Holder (guitar/background vocals), Phil Driscoll (trumpet/fluegel horn). Later members of the band included: Tim Huffman (guitars/vocals) and Scott Allen (rhythm guitar/vocals). Other musicians who helped with other albums over the years were Kerry Livgren (of Kansas), Phil Keaggy, Ed Zimmerman, The 2nd Chapter of Acts, The group Sevenfold, and Jimi Jamison. Two more albums came out in 1983, More and Live Forever (recorded at Six Flags Over Georgia). Over the next 10 years, the group released 10 albums and traveled over a million miles. In 1987, the group attempted to cross over to mainstream rock by rechristening itself 'Look Up!' and releasing an album with Columbia Records. The album contains a retooled updating of "Peace Begins Within" from the We Believe album and a cover of DeGarmo and Key's "Love is All You Need".[12] Over the years guitarists Scott Allen, David Payton, Trent Argante, and Skip Benicky and keyboardists Stan Coates, Paul Joseph, and Marshall Pratt were also members. Many members of Broken Heart have gone on to become solo artists, music producers, worship leaders, pastors, and teachers. In 1987, the band received a Rock Album of the Year GMA Dove Award for Crack the Sky.[13] That same year, they received a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo, Group, Choir, or Chorus.[14] I remember Mylon Le Fver vaguely because his stuff was too soft for my tastes. I dislike most gospel because it is too much like "worldly" country lol. I did like Whitecross, Bloodgood, Rez Band and many other hard rock bands as well as some punk and alternative, especially One Bad Pig. The harder the band the more evangelical they tend to be, and I have seen teens hand out the tapes like others hand out tracts, and kids were being saved through the lyrics. Many others were led to the Lord during the sermon that was preached at the concerts. These were kids who would never have been reached in a church, but attended regularly following their conversions. One today is a head pastor at a large Nashville church, one is a youth pastor. The softest Christian music I have is Phil Keaggy and Phil Driscol. Otherwise I listen to the classical romantics. But I had a pastor tell me my Tchaikovsky is too worldly as well and that the only classical music I could listen to was Bach. I told him that I wouldn't stay under that kind of preaching and we left that church. There is nothing is the Bible about music styles. It is the lyrics that sanctify them. Psa 150:1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Psa 150:2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Psa 150:3 Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Psa 150:4 Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Psa 150:5 Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Psa 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
  17. No, Michael is just another created being and not another name for the Christ, the Word made flesh. Christ is called the Commander and Chief of the Lord's armies in the old testament. This is not the archangel Michael. He is occasionally called the Messenger (Angel) of the Lord, not meaning a created angel. Again it is not the archangel Michael. Calling Jesus "Michael" is Jehovah Witness doctrine.
  18. These are men's sorry opinions and are not based on Scripture. They are all in error.
  19. Welcome to Worthy, Sorry. No I don't think it was your fault. We are told not to make vows like this, but I made one as well when I was about that age and asked God to forgive me of it because I didn't know we weren't supposed to make foolish vows like that. I believe God has forgiven me. However, we are supposed to learn from our mistakes and not do things like that in the future.
  20. Definitely a Mary.
  21. The bottom line is does he need his sins forgiven? There is no other way that it can be done but through Jesus' death on the cross, taking the punishment that he deserves. It's God's way or the highway, so to speak. The word says it is a fool who says in his heart there is no God. It is most often plain ugly pride that keeps people from receiving Christ. They think they are too intelligent, or that they are in a better class of people, or people only do that because they need a crutch and they don't need any help, and finally, they are just as good as the next guy. One lady even said that we would have to wait and see if the good outweighs the bad. That is how the heathen think. 1Co 1:26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 1Co 1:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 1Co 1:28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 1Co 1:29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. I was guided to 1 Peter 3 and was told that he would be won without a word--no debating or arguing, no preaching. That only resulted in him tearing up my bibles. It was Just by my change in attitude as you have also seen. 1Pe 3:1 AMP. IN LIKE manner, you married women, be submissive to your own husbands [subordinate yourselves as being secondary to and dependent on them, and adapt yourselves to them], so that even if any do not obey the Word [of God], they may be won over not by discussion but by the [godly] lives of their wives, 1Pe 3:2 When they observe the pure and modest way in which you conduct yourselves, together with your reverence [for your husband; you are to feel for him all that reverence includes: to respect, defer to, revere him—to honor, esteem, appreciate, prize, and, in the human sense, to adore him, that is, to admire, praise, be devoted to, deeply love, and enjoy your husband]. 1Pe 3:3 Let not yours be the [merely] external adorning with [elaborate] interweaving and knotting of the hair, the wearing of jewelry, or changes of clothes; 1Pe 3:4 But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which [is not anxious or wrought up, but] is very precious in the sight of God. In the end I concluded that God could have saved hubby any time he wanted to. It took Him 4 years to remake me into the kind of wife that hubby needed.!!!
  22. A lady once told me that if God could speak out of the mouth of a donkey, He could use me as well. I'm still not sure what she meant by that.
  23. Forgive me. However, both are the words of God the Holy Spirit, and all should be considered the word of God.
  24. The same Holy Spirit that was in Jesus was in Paul. I trust that God the Holy Spirit spoke without error and that the original autographs are fully inspired of God and without error. To say that Paul was prone to error in his writing is much more misleading to new Christians. What is verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible? by Matt Slick 10/27/2014 Verbal plenary inspiration means that every word found in the Bible is given to us by God(verbal), everything in the Bible is authoritative (plenary), and every word is also divinely directed (inspired). But, this does not mean that everything referenced in the Bible is also morally proper. For example, the Bible might record someone's lie or a murder even though lying and murder are not approved of in Scripture. But the recording of the events is under the direction of God and is accurate. The verbal plenary inspiration applies to the original manuscripts, also known as the autographs. It was the originals that were penned by the prophets and apostles that were given by God, authoritative, and divinely directed.
  25. As said, the words of Christ were directed toward the Jews who were still under the Old Testament law. His finished work on the cross and His resurrection ushered in the new covenant under which we live today. While the personalities of the apostles affected their style of writing, Paul's writings are 100% inspired of the Holy Spirit except for the place in 1 Corinthians concerning marriage where he states it is his opinion, not the Lord. To believe otherwise is contrary to our statement of faith that you agreed to. We believe that the 66 books of the Canon, from Genesis to Revelation are the exhaustive, inerrant and inspired word of God.
