  1. Hi Annette Thank you for this thread. What a wonderful book, I have always loved it. There is some wonderful, valuable commentary on the book from other members. It also pictures us following Jesus. How He looks after us and covers us. How can it be anything but amazing? I also loved all the comments agreeing with you. There is a song we used to sing, way back - a chorus: Cover me, cover me. Extend the border of thy mantle over me.. because Thou art my nearest kinsman .... cover me, cover me, cover me.
  2. Hi Figure of eighty We live in something called 'time'. God lives outside of our 'time'. God doesn't always answer us in what we imagine to be our time. We must learn to trust Him. Lately I have felt (not by feelings) that the Lord has not given me any direct answers. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean He is not there! It's a matter of faith. It's a matter of trust. In a thread called "A little more about me" by newbie Deaf Mouse, SelahSong has posted a beautiful hymn about trusting Jesus. You would do well to read it. Please take the advice given above (they have encouraged you and given you the truth) and learn to put all your faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ no matter what! It takes abandonment unto Him; complete surrender to Him, for us to develop that deep relationship with Him that matters most. Develop a prayer and Bible reading habit daily. If you have had a revelation of Jesus and what He did on the cross, you will understand what it means to be dedicated to Him, and follow Him, again - no matter what!
  3. Nothing, Mabel - when people are gagged in order to "not offend" the people they are helping, this is the social gospel. I quit doing chaplaincy in our schools for a similar reason. I was not allowed to preach or teach or even tell the children about Jesus. We were employed to be counsellors more than anything else. Agreed Maz. With our food program, we will not accept Government grants as it places obligations on the group of people giving, and we will not be beholden to them.
  4. Hi Mabel and Marilyn I think there is a variety of names for what you are talking about Mabel. One is Universalism, another Humanism, another the social gospel etc. They are pretty much all the same - they appeal to the humanitarian side of human beings to the point where the real gospel is ignored and the social gospel takes over. It is a worldly religion.
  5. Hi Maz Thanks for this. I have asked people (athiests) things like "How does a spider know how to spin a web?" and "The dna for every type of vegetation is in the seed." Where do seeds come from?" Nobody answers.
  6. Beautiful turtletwo. Thank you.
  7. Yes, I agree that this is a good topic. Thanks Michael37. I also see that our service to God (for example, volunteer work; hospitality) is a privilege given by God to help us learn and grow - and given with a whole heart and intention to serve the Lord with all faithfulness and love toward Him and the one/s being served - as true worship.
  8. Heleadethme, I am in agreement. Well said.
  9. Amen to all the wonderful people and posts above. We are already there; it is now 10:14 hours and minutes into New Year's Day. May God bless all at Worthy.☺️
  10. We must make the most of any opportunity to share Jesus' love. I think we all agree here that that is the great Commission, as well as making disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19). This is happening in many countries where Christians face great persecution.
  11. Hi Freeeagle Welcome to Worthy. Eagles are magnificent creatures, created by God Himself along with all other creation. I like the name - I guess free because of Jesus' sacrifice on Calvary and wanting to mount up with wings as eagles! May you grow strong in the Lord - I hope that is your desire.
  12. Hi Albin Just to add to the other comments: "When I survey the wondrous cross/ on which the Prince of Glory died / my richest gain I count but loss / and pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast / Save in the death of Christ, my God / All the vain things that charm me most /I sacrifice them to His blood. See, from His head, His hands, His feet / Sorrow and love flow mingled down / Did e'er such love and sorrow meet / Or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm of nature mine / That were an offering far too small / Love so amazing, so divine / Demands my soul, my life my all." From the Redemption Songs.
  13. Hmmmnn. I am feeling overwhelmed by the rate at which we are moving now with all this technology; but I turn to Him and He gives me peace.
  14. Hi turtletwo This is one of my favourites, too ... I think it was written by Fanny Crosby, who was blind and I think lived until 95 years of age. I also love "It is well with my soul" and "When I survey the wondrous cross".
  15. Yes, Melinda12 - my husband and I rejoice whenever we hear, sing along to, join in with, meditate on the words of the wonderful hymns we have at our disposal to sing anywhere, anytime. We love hymns more than any other song, as they evoke a deep sense of the presence of the Lord and tears roll down as we remember the price He paid for us at Calvary and how we want to remember and talk with Him every day... these songs given to saints by the Lord are definitely special.
  16. Hi Pencil24 I thought this response from JustPassingThru was a wonderful prayer to our Lord for you. I stand in agreement with this prayer for you on the loss of this loved person in your life.
  17. Let all Christians everywhere reject any attempts by the enemy to substitute anything for the Word of God - the Bible and all it contains. It has been said that some people want to make a religion out of artificial intelligence. We don't need religion - we have our Lord.
  18. Hey sis. Is thanksgiving this weekend? Consider me sitting at your table (but I won't have the turkey as I don't eat meat lol) - veggies by themselves are gooooood! Set a place for me - we are family!
  19. Thank you turtletwo! You certainly have an attitude of gratitude; I hope every one of us thanks our Lord every day. I know your list goes on and on, the same as ours ..... every blessing comes from the hands of God.
  20. Hi preciouspearl. I understand. Take care sis. We will all be praying for you.
  21. Hello preciouspearl Your name says who you are - precious. You're an absolute pearl in the eyes of Jesus our King. He loves you sister. He gave His life on Calvary so you could be redeemed. All the people here have been telling you the truth. You need to listen to them dearest. Our friend and sister Abby-Joy knows what it is to overcome. Can you talk to her through the pm system? Just take that step. She is full of the compassion of the Lord and can help you, because she leans on Jesus completely herself. God bless you sister.
  22. I am with you, LivingbyFaith. I have never been interested in fb. My daughter has it, and my husband. But our other daughter cancelled hers and so have some other people I know. I find that, whenever I meet up with people I haven't seen for a while, they always know the news I was going to talk to them about already, thus making meeting up a bit of a non-event. I am also wary of big brother. They have enough on us already!
  23. I feel like this right now, tt. Thank you for writing my feelings. I must not go by my feelings, but by faith in God alone!
  24. Isn't it amazing, people, how the world just "joins in" without even questioning this vile practice? And "Christians" too! It is so wicked. I can't understand why any church would condone joining in with this; it is so blatantly of the occult! Our supermarkets, cheap novelty stores etc. all have stuff for sale. It sickens me. We have put signs outside our house stating that we do not participate. Good on you turtletwo. This is a really good poem! I really like your poems very much
