  1. As Christians we take Jesus's words very seriously. As has been said in normal conversation we do not try to make our statements more impressive or authoritive by swearing or by foul language. We do not curse. We do not blaspheme, in any way whether say blimey, omg, criky or any oyjer blasphous form of slang. There are occasions when one seriously and soberly makes a vow. Getting married is one, serving in a jury or as a witness in court, joining the military. These are serious vows that we should keep..
  2. We are not Jesus. He could see there faith, we can't. James talks about the prayer of faith will heal. That is, it is the faith of the person praying for healings faith that counts and not the faith of the sick person.
  3. Only if you make claims that are not true. If you claim someone taking medication has been healed, they stop taking the medication, but have not been healed and as a result end up in hospital seriously ill, then yes you could be sued. By all means pray for those who are sick, just don't claim, 'I've prayed that you be hea;led andyou are healed.'
  4. It is interesting that the 10 commandments when sumerised are All outward. We are to Love God. We are to love others. These are the priorities in our lives and Spiritual and mental soundness is based on this.
  5. John6: 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” If we are hs, he will ensure that we stay his. Unfortunately Judas was never his.
  6. The verses you quote, all of them, do not refer to being saved but to the on going Christian life. One correction, the church is NOT the stalk of the vine, as the verse says that is Jesus. We are to be rooted in him and not in Any organisation.
  7. Jesus in John 10 talked about being the ' good shepherd ' and that he in verse 10, had come that we might have life to the full. He is not promising us a full belly, fancy cloths, health etc etc, but life as a sheep in the care of his shepherd. In the midst of terrible circumstances we can know Gods peace and live a full life even in a concentration camp. Our life here is a preparation for our life in heaven.
  8. yes God is in control see Colossians 1:16-20New International Version - UK 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
  9. The greatest apologist of all time is an irrelevant question if churches do not use apologetics in there ministry. If they do not teach there members how to use apologetics.
  10. We are not saved by keeping the OT cerimonial law. So those commands do not apply to us. Many of these requirements where to keep the jews separet from the surronding nations. Today we are not separate but by how we live we are to be different, in how we speak, no filthy language, jokes etc. In our total honesty, literally totally honest, not taking work pens, paper home, not cheating on time keeping etc. Totally loyal to our spouse, obedient to the government except when it stops us being Christian. The question isn't clean/unclean animals but how Christ like do we live?
  11. Are there no english speaking churches in this country, that you can travel to? Would he sit and watch an on line church service from an english speaking country or an apologetic lecture/debate? The coldcasechristianity web site has many lectures that explain the reasonableness of Christianity, if he likes logic than the reasonablefaith site has articles, lectures and debates on it. Check out the online sites of churches in the country you are in, there may be a good evangelical church with services in english and translated into the local language.
  12. 6 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. This applies to our prayer life. It does not apply to witnessing at work, there if one is an educated faithful christian, the spirit will bring to our memory what we need to say giving us the wisdom to apply it.
  13. Would you please explain how this is being worked out in the world. How are the enemies of Christians in north korean death camps being ruined? How are the enemies of Christians being forced out of their villages in mexico, india, and indonesea being ruined?
  14. What it is called is irrelevent. Paul made it clear that speaking in tongues unless accompanied by interpretation was not to be done.
  15. Basicly ever ' right ' claimed by people today can be traced directly back to Christianity. Under Gods law all people regardless of race, status, wealth or religeon are equal and are to be treated in the same way. You do not find this in roman or greek laws, or in islamic or hindu laws. Freedom of the individual, again a judeochristian concept. slavery was forbidden, yet it was normal in the ancient world and in islam/hinduism. Any nonchristian claiming human rights should be challenged where those rights come from.
  16. 1Cor14: . 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God.
  17. Jesus is the Truth. If we are his how can we live a lie. As Paul says ' we renounce secret and underhanded ways. '
  18. Just what do you mean by thay? A blueprint is a set of plans that are followed by an engineer or builder to make what is on them. Are you saying we have to be crucified? What Jesus did at calvary was a one in all of creation event, we cannot recreated it.
  19. Ever been involved in a holiday bible club or sunday school for children? They always have a memory verse, which is taught by repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition and guess what repetition. Select a verse, write it out in full with chater and verse. Then read it out loud three or four times, then close your eyes or turn the card over and try to say it. Check where you correct, try again, three or four times. Now put the card in your wallet, or stick it on the dashboard and while stationary in trafic practise it, do it again while in the lift, the toilet, waiting for a bus, a train. Doing this regularly will build up a collection of verses which youcan review every couple of weeks.
  20. This was not an abortion, re read the account and pay attention to Davids responce once the child had died. Remember ' Hard cases make Bad Laws ' Those who want to dismember our society don't care about the suffering of ordinary people, that are colateral damage on the way to there view of a perfect society. Look at the stats, where do children do best, educationaly, socially, and financially? When raised by their biological parrent. Marriage and all it means is the answer for most of the poor, but they don't hear that from the society changers.
  21. Morality like truth has to be built upon something. Christians build upon the rock of Gods word an the truth found init. Todays non christian still live using the decaying fragments of societies Vhristian morality, but don't realise it.
  22. As Jacob did not have the talmud nor the new testament those commands did not apply to him. The kiss was then and still is the universal form of greeting. Jacob after a difficult journey had found his relatives. He had security. Yes on seeing Rachel he became sexualy infatuated with her and allowed himself to be taken advantage of by Laban. David expressed himself modestly, yet was exstragavent in meeting Sauls dowry request, which was an attempt by Saul to get him killed. His marriage failled because Michal came to dispise Davids enthusisam for serving God.
  23. A famous tightrope walk walked across niagra falls, was taught that it was easy with the balance pole. He responded by offering to take the heckler across in a wheelbarrow. the heckler decline because he didn't trust him. How does one trust God when ones life has fallen to pieces? How does one step out in faith over niagra falls?
  24. What made the difference to the repentant thief? Jesus's prayer for his exceutions. His behaviour while being crucified. His behaviour on the cross. What the thief know about Jesus. His behaviour and attitude was totaly different. He didn't curse his exceutions, he didn't curse or revial the bystanders. As the thief confess he and his companion deserved their deaths but jesus didn't. It is getting to that same point that is the problem for most people. They do not see themselves as 'sinners ' as deserving hell.
  25. It takes time to make friends, time to build trust, to establish boundaries. May I suggest trying something different. Does your church have ' a work week' or a ' work night ' when basic maintence is done? That is a time when through shared work friendships can be made. Or a mens sports night playing baseball, soccar, contactless america foorball etc etc
