  1. You deal with them by saying or thinking, 'yes that is right' and the move on, paying them no more attention. If this does not work you may need to talk to your doctor for medication to calm your mnd down so you can regain control of it and of your thoughts.
  2. No God does not answer questions like this. He has given us the intelligence to be able to read his word, to understand it and apply its principles to our lives.
  3. If you are a Christian and are living a 'sinful ' lifestyle that is correct. So are you a Christian? by that I don't mean white, middle class, parents attended church and you attend church, but someone who has Jesus as Lord and Saviour. ( Lord think of master slave relationship ) What ever your situation if this church causes you to know that you need to change, that you are not honouring God by how you live, if it makes you feel ashamed etc etc, then attend that church every Sunday untill you do change.
  4. You know what 'all' Christians believe, or merely what you have been taught to believe? There is a big difference. oral traditions when they conform to what the bible teaches can be believed. Who is tis rabbi? What relevance does he have to Christianity? There is only one source of authority for Christians and that is the bible. Re the second coming and the many differnt teachings about it. There is only one certainty about it. Jesus is coming again. Everything else don't worry about it, what ever man says about it will be shown to be wrong. The Jews thought and still do, that they knew the conditions the Messiah would fulfill when he came. It will be the same when Jess returns, he will not meet our expectations but come unexpectedly.
  5. Point out two things, You booked your time off first. That who ever approved her leave should have checked that there would be enough staff in the dept. It is not your problem, it is who ever approved her leaves problem.
  6. Intrusive thought one just acknowledges by saying/thinking " that's correct" or 'OK' and move on ignoring that thought. Please read this link:- https://iocdf.org/expert-opinions/25-tips-for-ocd-treatment/ Particularly the sections about intrusive thoughts, share this with family, friends, your church leaders, anyone you might talk to about your intrusive thoughts so they can help you deal with them. Last point. If you are unable to follow the advice because you have so many or so intrusive the thoughts, then you may need medication to calm/slow down your thoughts in order that you can regain control. Do seek medical advice.
  7. Ok two things. God does not make bargains/deal etc with us. He expects obedience to his commands. Any attempt at bargaining with God, attempts to manipulate God to do 'my' will, to feel good about what I am doing is a lie of the devil. Don't do it. Memorise 1John1:9 and practise it. 2nd look up this link :- https://iocdf.org/expert-opinions/25-tips-for-ocd-treatment/ read it several times and start putting into practice what it says about intrusive thoughts. Share this link with your family, friends and church leaders so they know how to help you. Talk about it to your doctor and therapist.
  8. Because there is No biblical mandate for such an unnatural thing.
  9. Just two suggestions. To learn what they believe and why, knowing key verses etc is not the way to challenge them. To think, how does there barrage of verses and explanations affect you? Do they make you want to be a JW or just make you more resistant . So why should your demolition of what they believe have any different effect on them. The key is not to drive them into a corner but to leave them with 'thought bombs' that when they start thinking about them they start undoing their beliefs themselves. To ask them ,' have you done what 2 Cr 13:5 says? and move on to the main discussion, letting them at their leasure read it and think about it. In an online discussion you don't have to be seen to have the last word.
  10. Yes God establishes All ruling/governing authorities and he uses them, but that does not excuses there acts or judgements, any more than a hell bound sinner can use the excuse that God caused him to do it? Every person is morally responsible for their acts. This appealies to all people whether in government or not. Secondarily, the acts of government6 do not save us, that is only through our faith in Jesus.
  11. John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." Romans 5:10" For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son" We are Christs, you should now this!
  12. I don't know about you but the Creator happens to be My God, the one who Loves me enough to send his Son to save me. Do I please God? I have an intelligent faith in Jesus, as heb 11:6 says " without faith ( in God ) it is impossible to please him. Tell me please how do you please God or what possitive things/ideas do you have to help others please God. Telling a drowning man " Swim, swim!"" is pointless.
  13. There is no goal for reading scripture. If one wants to learn, to grow spiritually then one reads. Reading scripture does not save us, it teaches us about who it is that can save us.
  14. as in John 3:16 to believe in Jesus, followed by obedience.
  15. What God had to show/tell Paul was for his benefit. You are showing the ignorance of quoting scripture out of context. Paul isn't boasting of his spirituality but replying to supporters of other preachers who have made great claims about there super spirituality and have been dismissive of Paul.
  16. No it is critical that Christians be educated in what they believe. Discernment helps one choose between conflicting views and if one does not know what one believes it does not help.
  17. What is your churches youth group doing about Halloween? Do they have an alternative party laid on? It is not a big deal for you and your family/friends to have a party, in fact use it. You'll help with the party arrangements and he will willingly come to your churches next family service.
  18. Very inspirational post. Now lets read how you would apply this practically to our daily lives? As James said, If one merely blesses a starving person and does nothing to feed them that is useles. James 2:15-16,? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? So apply it.
  19. Actually we train by learning about what it is we believe so we can give a reason for our faith.
  20. How well do you know them? Clearly not well enough to know who they have been going out with. So what can you do? Ask what there joint plans are for church involvement once married? Ask for how they will involve their children or teach their children about Christianity? To If they are set on getting married there isn't much that you can do other than pray.
  21. Sorry no it is not. Look at the OT there worship was compulsory for those who were Jewish. Now it is not the law of the land that we must worship but it is Jesus's command for us. Christianity is not intended to be lived in isolation, but as part of a community of believers who meet together regularly. Look through the NT and you will find that Jesus and the apostles regularly went to the synagogue in order to worship. Paul gathered new Christians together in church groups, who met regularly. Covid is a problem for many who are vulnerable, but there are you tube services and zoom meetings, some churches have whats ap groups etc etc
  22. Face your fears. examine them to see just how realistic they are. Get expert advice about ones fears. Look at what one is putting ones trust in, is it ones bank balance, where one lives, social standing or in Jesus. Again what are you being frighten by? Jesus promises never to let us go, he does not promise health or wealth.
  23. That you need to see a doctor. You have some sort of skin infection, you can try using scent less soap and handcreams, but do see a doctor.
  24. So lets have some practical examples of what Christians should be doing. Any one can knock a building down, but it takes real spiritual insight and wisdom to build up peoples faith and worship.
  25. The reality is that our sins, All of them have been forgiven and that we have been adopted into Jesus's family, so we have peace, a hope for what is to come and a purpose in life.
