James 1

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Mark 11

24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

John 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Without a doubt.

what i have been taught is this we are to focus first on the kingdom and put christ always in the center of things

all prayers are answered but not in our terms

christians have been taught to ask first and not taught what i was taught this is were i think the confussion comes in and why so many christians are angry at god

Matthew 5

22 but i say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother wil be liable to judgment whoever insults his brother wil be liable to council and whoever says you fool will be liable to hell fire

one of the reasons prayers are not answered

second reason prayers are not answered

Matthew 5

23 so if you are offering your gift at the alter and there remember that your brother has something against you

24 leave your gift there before the altar and go first be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift

third reason why prayers are not answered

Matthew 6

2 thus when you give your gift to the needy sound no trumpet befor you as the hypocrities do in the synogogues and in the streets that they may be praised by others truly i say to you they have received their reward

3 but when you give to the needy do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing

4 so that your giving may be seen in secret and your father who sees in secret wil reward you

5 and when you pray you must not be like the hypocrities for they love to stand and pray in the synogogues and at the street corners that they may be seen by others truly i say to you they have received their reward

6 but when you pray go into your room and shut the door and pray to your father who is in secret and your father who sees in secret will reward you

7 and when you pray do not heap up empty phrases as the gentiles do for they think that they will be heard for their many words

8 do not be like them for your father knows what you need before you ask him

23 but seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you

this is how i was taught but if you want to be taught what i hear being preached dont come whinning to pastors who teach the truth and to guys like my self and complain saying how can god be mean he did not answer my prayers

christians dont forgive

christians dont forget they hold on and remember whats been said to them

christisns dont even forgive their bosses or work mates

christians dont even ask god to search their hearts to see if their is anything they need to give up or deal with

instead what i hear i want this god i want you to do this in this much time lord i need $10,000 in 5 min dad or i wil be locked up or kicked out

god has answered my prayers when i have openly asked god if i am holding on to any anger or do i need to ask some one in church to forgive me

do we realy put him in the center and focus on the kingdom first ?

why do we lie to new christians why do we hold back from telling the truth ?

"You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says,

Interesting answers. I have a whole bunch of explanations as to why prayer is not answered. I am away in the bush doing various anti poaching and other things until Sunday and will be out of contact completly. However, I concur with Nebula that all prayers are answered, and that some times the answer is no, and sometimes the answer is deffered in God's timing.

The prayers that are not answered, are because they are not prayers. Some have mentioned scripture in this regard on this thread, but I would like to postpone my answers until I get back.

Pray for us, it's a jungle out there!

John 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

I think there is a danger in how we approach the words "anything" and "in My name":

Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" (Mat 7:22-23).

The will of God comes first. Our prayers can be affected by our will and by the way our "wisdom" tells us things should be.

Was just reading James :)

James 1:2-4

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

I guess a lot of the time I pray for God to spare me from things like pain and disagreements with people. This verse shows me though that it's during trials that test our faith that steadfastness is produced, which is something for us to actually desire!

Anyway... just some more thoughts.

I don't think my Lord can lie.

Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

John 14:13

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:7

IF ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

John 15:16

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Here are some reasons someones prayer may not be answered.

"You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? ... James 4:2-5

Those James was speaking of reminded me of those in Isaiah 58 who fasted for the wrong reasons. As fasting and prayer go hand in hand I thought this would shed some light on the subject.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
