I have to ask....what about those you could possibly lead astray or into sin by you watching harry potter? Well it's ok for them and they are a Christian. Seems you would become responsible for their final destination or the harm that came to them by your "innocent" fun that led them to believe it was safe.

IS this a serious question? We would lead someone to sin if we watch Harry Potter with them? They will run out and start trying to wave a wand and shout odd latin phrases into the night?

Are you just rying to stir up mischchief?;)

Gee you don't believe it is possible for them to be influenced by something you think is innocent? Not trying to stir mischief...trying to show you something. People watch your life. If it is good for you they might think it good for them. be real cute for them to end up with a demonic influence in their life cooing them a different direction because you didn't think it could happen. Ever met someone involved in witchcraft? Obviously not if waving a wand is your take on it. You don't think people look into this stuff after watching it? Oh my. It happens, and if they are there because they saw you doing it, and assumed it was safe....wow. We have de sensitized people so badly. Even my 11 yr old son will tell you it is horrible, and something he wants no part of. I never mentioned it to him, but his cousin is into it. He finds it evil. Sad when the children see it more clearly than the adults.

Exactly. Those who are into witchcraft started with just playing with it. They got the idea from somewhere, watching someone. Maybe is was a movie, a friend, or a little book on fantasy, but they get it from somewhere. People will always see no harm in something they like ...

In Narnia there is magic right? Is magic not a form of witchcraft or wizardy? The difference between Narnia and Potter is that one was written by a great christian and the other was not. Both are fantasy and both deliver great messages. Just like real life there is a fight against evil and both show that fight threw the eyes of fantasy. Maybe we will never agree on this subject but it's fun talking about.

Agreed...good times! ;)

I'd just like to point out that there is a difference in the witchcraft of Narnia and HP. In Harry Potter, witchcraft is shown to have good and prosperous effects on people, and its power is nutured in children. In Narnia, witchcraft is seen, but its power is not for good. As you correctly pointed out in another post, seeing a representation of something in a movie or book isn't the problem...its the glorification of sin thats the problem. I don't have a problem with witchcraft being seen in a movie...because witchcraft is real and people mess with it. Kinda like seeing demons in a movie. I believe demons exist and I believe that they are a part of human existence. However, like witchcraft, i won't watch a show that puts demons in a positive light (Like Buffy or Angel).

So yes, there is witchcraft in Narnia...but its representation as a source of evil is proper to me and it is a theme that I am okay with my kids being exposed to. Unlike the theme of Harry Potter of kids learning and cultivating a positive experience with witchcraft (which is against Godly standards.)

Axxman that seems like a middle ground to me. I have no problem with you or your children not watching things that carry witchcraft in them. I have done this with other things in my life and it's a big life fulfilling step. On the other hand I am a little sensetive about someone saying it's a sin to watch Harry Potter. That's the only beef I have. I hope we have reached a middle ground and I think we have.

The responses on this board haven't endorsed witchcraft. All have said it was a sin. A poster named Man talked about temptation in post #122. It might reflect some light on what is beeing talked about. Your son finds sin evil and that is a good thing. When he goes to school and he and his fellow classmates commit sin, does that mean he should aviod school. People can be lead into sin by just about anything. That doesn't mean we aviod everything.

Just a thought where did Adam and Eve get the idea of sin from. What does the bible say causes people to sin? I thought it implies are hearts and thoughts are evil. We didn't get the idea from something. If you have kids you should be well aware what I'm talking about. At an early age they start sinning without getting the idea from somewhere.

he has been in public school. Luckily not this year. We are to be in this world not of it. Why participate in things just because someone else does, and there were those who saw no harm in it. Sorry if you missed that part.

It could be asked "What evil should Christians endorse?" ...or "Which demonic evil would God be pleased i observe without speaking truth?" ...or "Is He pleased when we downplay evil?"

Good witchcraft -vs- Bad witchcraft.

The evil is good and the good is evil.

Where have I heard that before?

Sorry bro... I have no idea what you are talking about. ;)

I've got a question:

Which movie(s) or TV show(s) do you believe God would endorse?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
