ok, not to take this off track, but smalcald, leave vegas (or amsterdam) or any other CITY out of it. there is no more amount of sin in this city than there is in dallas, or miami, or anywhere else. so picking out cities is about like picking out individuals. it's silly.

besides, the whole point is that robertson's comments were taken out of context to begin with. please go back and watch the video for yourself.

I do think his comments were taken out of context we can agree on that.

My point is more along the lines of your first paragraph, it IS indeed silly to pick out cities or countries for destruction based on sin or based on worship of the anti-Christ. There are more Christians in Haiti for example than in many secular cities in Europe or in our own country. So the logic just does not follow. Now this is not to say it is not true! Maybe it is true, but only God will know that not Robertson.

When this earth is destroyed which we know from scripture will happen as ordained by God, we as Christians will still help those in need as we are called to do.

And here again is our disagreement - that isn't what Pat meant by his statement.

Pointing out cause and effect (followed by "pray for these people") isn't picking out the nation for destruction.

I know that before today I did not know that Haiti was so engaged in voodoo. What Pat Robertson did for me was two things: he gave me the opportunity to be educated about this matter, and gave me another reason to pray.

this is backwards.

after this disaster...Haiti education doesn't matter

and ideally you pray to prevent.

Better late than never. I can now pray for their future too.

Yes, and one of my consistent prayers is that the rights of the innocent be protected.

Smalcald

How do you know this? Because a person belongs to a church or a denomination doesn't make the person born again.

Blessings,

thing is, to compare any city with an entire country is just... well, apples and oranges. i'm not so sure though that there are as many actual chrstians living in haiti as there are in a city of europe or america. and, aren't ALL cities secular?

furthermore, it's just sad to me (frustrating, angering, pick an adverb... or adjective... or whatever... ) that people can't get the context of what robertson said right in the first place. there is no reason why he or anyone else shouldn't have said what he said, because it was expressing a root cause that needed to be overcome by prayer, as opposed to just some superficial, short-term expediency prayer for relief.

I can tell by the gist of most of the posts here that not very many people really understand voodoo and the goals of it's religion. I would be very reluctant to start posting detailed descriptions of the things they do to bring out the spirits that they invite to live within their heads and bodies......

If you listen to what Pat is trying to get people to understand, you will see that he is asking us to pray and ask God to releave these people from the situation they are in. While I would agree that this might not be the appropiate time to tell the people in Haiti that they have created themselves a real problem, I also would remind you that there are no televisions in Haiti for them to hear his comments, and those comments were sent to and ment to be received by his Christian followers to pray for the Haitian people.

I'm not a big fan of Pats, but to edit his statements the way some are doing is very close to liable. The whole context of Pats message was that the Haitian people are in the middle of a great disaster, but that they have more problems than food and water and that we should all be praying for them.

I would ask if a single person, who has been putting Pat down, has actually prayed for the deliverance of the people from the effects of that sick religion......... has anyone besides me asked for help on a spiritual level in thier behalf?????

Material help is needed immediately in Haiti, a catastrophe of gargantuan proportions. Roaming gangs with machetes, thieves preying upon the poor & destitute, decaying corpses and the absence of essential governing authority in Port-Au-Price surely demands immediate introduction of security officials & life-saving personnel. World Vision & Samaritan's Purse are on the ground there as we talk. That is one vital requirement without delay.

There's something else that makes Haiti quite distinct. Haiti, with its satanic voodooism & its Roman Catholic (mixed with African tradition) of "re-sacrificing Jesus Christ" millions of times over & over in the horrendous "sacrifice of the mass", needs our believing prayers and the saving, healing touch of the world's only Savior, Jesus Christ the Righteous One, via the imperative of the new birth proclaimed by Christ in John Chapter Three. "The Great Physician now is near, the Sympathizing Jesus!"

While watching the news yesterday afternoon there was shown a 13 year old boy who was crying: Why, God, why is this happening?!?!?

This brought home to me one of the specific things we need to be asking for in prayer, and that is that it be revealed to them the why.

Surely, that little boy is not the only one asking why.

Yes, O.O., I personally am praying for the Haitians and I'm sure everyone reading this thread is too. You can pray for their deliverance and think that Pat Robertson's comments were insensitive at the same time...you know?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
