Maybe Oklahoma gets so many tornado's becuase the people of Oklahoma are very sinful? Yet I never hear anyone say that, why not?

I will! All people are.

If we got what we deserved, who could stand?

Still...I do believe that God is sovereign and even when bad things happen to good people, it is His will for a purpose that I may never know. When bad things happen to really bad people, I call it "justice" but His ways are always redemptive. We tend to be like Jonah in that regard, eh?

Yet every disaster like this has myriad levels of ways the Kingdom of God can be glorified. He desires that no man should perish and yet knows that most humans won't seek Him until they sense their own helplessness. For the helpers, this offers an hour to shine.

Only He knows how to work all things together for our good. It's also visible in the scriptures that He controls the wind and the rain.

Maybe He is offering America a chance to show how we treat the helpless? :horse: Maybe He's offering Haiti a chance to rebuild on a stronger foundation?

Those are good questions to ponder after we focus on the task at hand; protecting what remains of life.

That's a thought; He does things in His own way and time. I believe that the U.S., and most of the rest of the world, are stepping up in a major way. Even Hugo Chavez has sent aid and personnel. Has anyone heard what the oil producing countries in the Middle East are doing to help? I haven't heard anything but then....they may be doing something and it's not in the news.

Good question.

I have been searching and the countries listed so far as sending aid to Haiti are The US, Cuba, China, France, Israel, the UK, Spain and South Africa. There are probably others I have missed, but that is what I have found, so far.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/20...untry-donations

I found this site which lists countries that have donated to Haiti. I am sure I'm mistaken, but I do not recall Muslim countries being involved in humanitarian aid to countries that were not Muslim - Maybe they have been - but I haven't seen evidence of it.

What follows below is just a partial list of charities that have already jumped in with an impressive international rescue effort:

* The Red Cross has directed $200,000 for immediate assistance.

* AmeriCares has pledged to send staff and $5 million in relief aid.

* Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres will be deploying additional staff to help at severely damaged medical facilities.

* UNICEF will provide supplies to allow access to adequate sanitation, safe water and basic health care. Their phone is 1-800-4UNICEF.

* The Inter-American Development Bank, a Washington-based agency that focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean, will provide $200, 000 in immediate aid for food, water, medicine and temporary shelter.

* Venezuela plans to send food, medicine, water and 50 rescue workers.

* Mexico has pledged to send doctors, search and rescue dogs and infrastructure damage experts.

* Italy is sending a field hospital and emergency medical personnel.

* France is sending 65 clearing specialists, rescue dogs and a team of medical personnel.

Doctors Without Borders needs help not just for the Haitians but themselves. Their own buildings have been devastated by the earthquake.

Haiti.911.com makes it wicked easy to donate $5. Just text "Yele" to 501501. This is done through Wyclef Jean's organization Yele Haiti so I know it's legit.

Partners in Health (PIH) is also looking for help, as is Mercy Corps. Their toll-free number is 1-888-256-1900.

You can also donate to DirectRelief online through this secure server.

Oxfam America also provides a secured server if you wish to donate to them.

International Medical Corps is also putting together a response effort to help the victims.

Here's the link to Save the Children's website.

This is the official Facebook page for the relief efforts.

http://welcomebacktopottersville.blogspot....help-haiti.html

I have never seen the above site - and am certainly not recommending that anyone donate through their site - it is merely to show what groups are involved and people wanting to know more about the relief groups can research on their own....

The Haitian people need help, not judgment. Pat Robertson was way off. I don't think that governmental corruption in Haiti is any worse than corruption that exists in the US government or that of any other country.

They need prayer and they need real long-term help to rebuild and to be rebuilt up to modern earthquake code standards so that this degree of devestation is not repeated.

:horse: Amen!

and that was EXACTLY his point. they need prayer and long term help, and needed it BEFORE the earthquake too, which is why his ministries have been in the trenches in haiti for over a year already. his whole point was a call to prayer for these people. he was not passing judgment on them, he was pointing out that the spiritual condition that needs prayer as well.

So true, yod

But it's not uncommon and quite natural for Christians to try to look for God's reasoning, the why's and so forth when things like this happen. We should search for the truth, because the lost certainly aren't going to make the connection.

While sin abounds in Haiti, we must remember God's grace abounded much more... even through righetousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Blessings,

but nobody wants to hear the truth of robertson's compassion. they just want to point fingers... ahhhh, there's that word that so many are using to describe what robertson did!!!! you're all accusing HIM of pointing fingers. truth is, most of the people in this thread are the ones doing the finger pointing and blaming, while pat robertson was already very active in trying to help the people... and all some want to do is criticize and belittle him for asking for prayer that goes to the heart of their problems rather than just sticks a bandaid on the surface.

his comment about "pact with the devil" is bad timing. no one is removing credit for his assistance.

I disagree. Pat has a huge prayer worrior group of people who watch his program daily and he often talks about things that need prayed for. If it were not for Chirs Matthews and Bil Oriley cutting his talk off at just about the worse point possible, I don't think any of this would be being discussed. Pat has discussed the Voodoo problem off and on for a very long time..... it's part of the reason he and his group is there.... spiritual batteling on their behalf.

I'm a Nazarene and we have and have had people there for a long time. Our missionaries have several churches around the area (which we don't know if are still standing) and as I understood from Church this morning have affected at least a hundred thousand people there by introducing them to Christ.

It seems that over the past years as the people there start to bring themselves out of the problems they have, some disaster comes along and destroys what is being built.

Personally I do believe the country is cursed, but it's not God that cursed it, it's Satan himself. I don't know if Satan can cause earth quakes, but it seems that major disasters happen there at the worst times. Some natural, some political some desease, but all there and not on the other half of the island where people seem to be living just fine.

Something is different in Haiti.

Might I add a note that I am not a follower of Pat Robertson. Some of the things he teaches and does are no better than Benny Hinn or the other WOF's.

I do like the way his organization prays for people, and I know folks that were introduced to the Gospel through his show.

My main purpose for posting on this thread was just that I detest the way the news media can take a piece of video and edit it to twist it into things that were not really said within the context of the whole thing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
