Well Tigger, I have pressed that question to my son and grand son. They sit looking at the phone as if they are hoping someone will call . I really think its the bright lights and the sound thats got them addictive lol. But as for texting, that I find very useful. I get a faster response (usually as soon as the message is received), than if I leave a voice message.

Texting is faster, then voice mail.

I think it's alot faster, it appears on your phone and you reply at the push of a button rather than call your voicemail, type in a code, listen to the options, play messages then call the person back. Also it's alot handier to have at times you cant talk on the phone, for example when I'm working my wife txts me to ask me a question, and I can see what she's asking without having to call her. plus I can send pictures by texting which is always fun.

:24:

I know what you mean, Tigger. The only reason I have a cell phone is because: 1. It's required by my job. 2. I don't have a home phone. The thing doesn't get used much, though. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I prefer to talk to folks face-to-face if I can.

Ever see 4 people sitting at a lunch room table all talking, only to realize as you get closer that they're all on phones talking to others and not those they're sitting with? :whistling: I saw that at work a few years back . . .

The thought occurred to me a few days ago: What chaos might ensue if all cell phones in the U.S. (or your favorite country) ceased to function for, say, 24-72 hours? :39: Would the world end, riots in the streets, the internet crash?

There's a saying I heard while going to a recovery meeting a few years back that covers this, I think. It went, "Human beings can get strung out (addicted) to almost anything."

I think that people will be lost and hopeless, not able to talk to anyone without plastic between them, it would be an apocalypse of zombies learning how to communicate.

I am sooo with you on this one tigger. I finally bought one, too, after someone stole all of the pay phones in our city, I didn't have a choice. This is one thing that I wish had never ever beeen invented, it has literally destroyed our society, and the respect people used to have for each other. We used to be able to talk to other people in a room without wondering if they had a telephone hidden on them somewhere and they were talking to someone more "important" than us low-lives that were actually in the same room with them. And its frustrating at work when your coworkers have their tiny little fingers flying away on tiny little keyboards when they are supposed to be working as a team. And you can't ask the manager to talk to them, because they are doing the same thing! No one wants to take care of business, and no one wants to respect those people who are physically in the room.

I have to say....I've never in my life wondered if other people in a room had a telephone hidden on them somewhere and were communicating with someone more important. Most companies don't allow employees to sit and text all day; that's just weird. You said that all the pay phones in Plano, Texas were stolen? :noidea: When did this happen? Did they catch whoever did that?

Reply:Theres an attachment for your phone called bluetooth- I'm kind of surprised you never heard of it-its been out a while, look it up. Unfortunately, my company allows employess to use their cell phones, thats not in my control, so call it what you want. And since you haven't had any payphones taken out where you live, I'm glad for you. Maybe you will become a happier person. Whatever it takes.

I use my cell phone, and have provided my kids with Tracfones, so I can keep track of them and so they can call me if they need me (to be picked up, or if there's an emergency, etc). I text because that is cheaper on the Tracfones than calling: 0.3 min for a text vs at least a full min for a call. I especially don't want to leave a voice mail on a Tracfone, since that will rack up the mins pretty quickly.

Call me cheap, yeah. On the other hand, I know how to switch the ringer on my phone to vibrate so as not to be a pest in the library, for instance. I also know how to speak quietly into a phone as opposed to using A VOICE LIKE THIS.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
