Someone once asked a preacher if they would go to hell if they didn't stop smoking, and his reply was that they won't go to hell but they'll probably go to heaven earlier than expected.:)

One of the few things I agreed totally with that I heard from Kenneth Copeland was one day when someone asked him if smokers could get into heaven...... He thought for a few seconds and then sais, " Yes they could, but I sure hope they don't stand by me..."

believe what you wish, i don't expect everyone to agree with me. but in my opinion, it was an apt comparison. and for those who feel it is a sin, it WOULD be for them to partake. what God does not define in scripture as sin is a matter between God and the individual.

in any case, i'm glad that i now longer smoke (even though my immune system plummeted AFTER i quit smoking). it was a costly habit, and it did control my life. God has delivered me from it, and i'm grateful He did.

The definition of sin is much broader than what is listed in the Bible, but those listed in it are definitely a sin. It is impossible for the Bible to list all possible things that could be a sin. But a sin in the general term is missing the mark, or standard of conduct or behavior God desires for us. Anything that does not please God is a sin, even stray thoughts.

I would bet that God would definitely not be pleased with a person willfully damaging their own body by smoking. Even though smoking or not would not affect salvation, it is a sin nevertheless. Do you think God would be pleased with a person cutting themselves with a knife as a form of pain relief? Smoking is basically doing that to your body, hurting it all the same.

Smoking not only hurt yourself, but it damage your reproductive cells, which would damage your future children. A lot of birth defects are attributed to smoking, it is like direct curse from this act.

I would think that smoking is some form of slow suicide no? I believe that if someone smokes to the point of becoming sick and keeps smoking knowing that they will die if they keep smoking is pretty much like suicide. And I don't think that ppl who commit suicide go to heaven, maybe not hell either (if there is a place in between these two?).

I do not smoke. As a registered nurse, I have taken care of patients who have smoked for several years. Many of them are dependent on oxygen, and some have peripheral vascular disease pretty bad. I am not criticizing anyone that does smoke, but the health effects of smoking can be detrimental.

Theres no in between place, limbo is a false doctrine, hell gets thrown in the lake of fire and God makes a new heaven and a new earth and we all live in New Jerusalem not heaven. Read the last couple of pages of Revelations for all the details.

The current heaven and earth are going to be destroyed with a loud noise and fervent heat. Sounds scary but its necessary.

So you think that per say.... a tribe of people living in natural harmony in a remote jungle and never had a chance to even know that the Bible exist will get thrown into a lake of fire? I don't think so...

Half of the planet in 1st world countries is grossly overweight. Is eating too much a sin as well? The Bible speaks of gluttony.

Smoking will not send you to hell, you just smell like you have been there.....

Being overweight is not entirely one's fault. Sometimes it is due to genetics and the kinds of food available to you, what stage of life you are in, nobody really chooses to be fat, but you could choose to smoke or not smoke. Yes, if you lack self control in terms of eating that would be a sin as well.

Its not a question of what I think and salvation isnt a question of hearing the name Jesus Christ or reading the Bible or attending a Bible college or going to "church" its a very basic principle. Do unto others as you would have done unto you for that is the law and the prophets. There are plenty of people who know nothing about the Bible that understand common decency and love of their neighbors. They love God without putting into terms of christianity. There are also many people who hate God even though they claim His name. God will not be mocked and He searches the hearts of all men. YHWH knows who loves Him; He said one resurrection on His day of judgement, hell goes in the lake of fire with all the sillybillygoats, the Lamb and His Bride (ewe/you&me) live eternally in New Jerusalem. Good News! God made us in His image and sin was introduced through Adam so we are born with the knowledge of good and evil. Its not an issue of social or cultural circumstance, I.Q., life situation. Its a question of hope and fear. Those who have hope for a bright future will not be let down and likewise those who fear the dark will be consumed by it.

I wonder how many Christians still smoke?? I do and I know I shouldn't and I have tried to stop. My main problem is that I enjoy a cigarette with a cup of coffee, after a meal, when i sit down to rest, and in between. For me a cigarette is a stimulant when I am tired or can't think straight; and a seditave when I am upset. I feel like I have leprosy when I light up anywhere but my house.. i respect others who don't smoke and if they visit me... I will smoke outside. Do you smoke????

i'll smoke me a good cigar every now and then.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
